  • the mountain is high. there is no end in sight to what we see. we look to the sky for answers climbing towards an end that never comes. who is there to hear your call? who is there to see you struggle? move up, move forward and reach out towards that end. you will reach your destiny.

  • I like to climb things. Sometimes I climb mountains, which isn't very fun. I've climbed burnt mountain quite a few times in my life. That's an okay climb, the top is really fun though cause it's all rocky and stuff. One time I went with my mom and the Scotts and Ellie and her kids, and Ellie had a flip out. It was funny.

  • on a mountain i stood

  • Once upon a time I was in the middle of a forest, completely stranded from the rest of society. I didn't know what to do so I started to climb. I climbed up the mountain, through the trees, past the rocks until I could see everything in the distance.
Suddenly it became clear, who I was and where I was. And all I had to do was climb.

    [Katie]

  • The journey isn't complicated. I dance all the time. We're slowly clearing out filthy heads for the next three or four steps. You and Janice are too uppity for me. We're silent. We're cultured. We don't like hamburgers, trances or the slim possibility that one day our neighbors will shift the blame and we'll be stuck in a fucking well.

    [Aez]

  • I climb trees. I climb to the top. I hope I don't fall. Climbing ropes can hurt your hands. I don't want to burn my hands. That yellow nylon rope is the worst.

    [heather]

  • never in my life have i seen such a random word! if the b is silent, why put it in the word in the first place?? it is soo unecessary, but there are so many words with silent letters! there is absolutely NO point.

You start when you're born, and keep going until you give up or die. Don't give up. Happiness is up the hill. You just have to climb.

  • Climb is to ascend to transcend to grow and to achieve. Climb is not easy, although it can be leisurely. To climb means you can fall, to climb means you can reach. Just Climb.

    [Gypsy]

  • Continuallly up the stairs, his horizon never changes, step after step, constantly turning left. It seems like something has bene following him forver, sliming it's tentacles over the steps, never gaining, or losing ground, as lost as he is in this staircase of forever.

    [RobertTheImpossible]

  • There were four brothers. The hill was so high that they couldn't see through the clouds of mist that split them from the ground. It was a lack of respect for life that made them jump, a massive respect for life that made them climb. All four, brought into the world, climbing the social ladder, only to find themselves freebasing into the abyss.

    [james]

  • I climbed up the ladder with a heavy heart. I went on and on endlessly looking up at the stars that beckoned me onwards. My entire body ached with the endless moving up and up and up. Meteors soared past my ears whizzing by. Undoubtedly, this was the hardest journey I had ever or would ever take. Of my passage, many tales would be told. Despite my current discomfort, I kept moving on.

    [KarlH]

  • I like to climb things. as a kid I used to climb on rocks at beaches and stuff. I loved jumping between them. I also climbed a tree when i lived at my old house. It was really relaxing. That tree means alot to me.

  • i began to climb. the rocks fit perfectly into my hands like rungs of a ladder, the top of the mountain loomed at the edge of my vision, the sun breaking over the ledge almost blinding me. i pulled myself up and found a place for my foot when suddenly my hand-holds crumbled.

    [Jon Wise]

  • climb a mountain, see lots of trees, a little river flowing down a wooded glade. Life is so much enhanced by such things. Without them life is sterile and uninteresting. Flowers in the woods are often tiny and delicate. An orchid is a parasite that lives on the trees. I don't like orchids very much, but my neighbor grows them and loves them. They're pretty, but they lack the life of flowers of the regular sort. Back to mountains, I love the mountains of the west. They are tall and craggy, soft and rounded, but always impressive. I was in the mountains this week. The pictures are still running around in my head and I visit them often. This is a neat exercise. What do I do next? Is this timed? I'm running out of climbing things to say. Is this a test of how stupid I am? It's six o'clock in the morning. I should be drinking coffee and reading the morning paper.

    [Marilynne]

  • Everytime I try I fall. Everytime I think i'm up I fall. But I guess the key is to keep climbing whatever climb you have in front of you. What the fuck else is there to do?

    [sal]

  • When I decided to start climbing the corporate ladder I had no idea that shit does, in fact, float to the top...I am utterly disgusted with the behavior of so called role models that we, as a young generation are supposed to look up too.

    [deb]

  • I can see a mountain so tall, its height both inspires and frightens me, from the top if I look down I can imagine myself tumbling down over and over and over until every bone in my body is shattered. Truth be known that love can be like that. Make that climb because the rewards are both great and scary as well. Climb climb climb and aspire.

  • As she began to climb the mountain she thought of her past, family and friends. It wasn't that she felt she was abandoning them, it was that they abandoned her. Her way of escaping the harsh reality was to climb the tallest mountain in the world; everest.

    [shannon]

  • The mountaineer rested, poised against the cliff face, a perturbed look on his face. It was too late for regrets now. He had to continue. But the bitter cold swept through his lungs, and he knew he would not make it.

    [Lulu]

  • I climed up a mountain and saw the world through the eyes of a woman who had seen it all. Saw the ground below and the people that must be residing there, living lives and walking forward in what they consider the imperfect existence. There is nothing like the feeling of being on top of the world. Even if one climbs up all the way to get to it, to try and replicate that feeling, even if one is on Everest and is physically on top of the world...we are not. No one is.

    [Daniya]

  • climb the mountain? which mountain? It's a challenge. And an adventure. Feel the wind chill. Breathe in the sights. I need to climb a mountain, and take a break from life.

  • Climb a tree. It was earth day yesterday, and I didn't do anything special. All I wanted to do was climb a tree...but it rained here in San Francisco, and I was stuck inside, watching my mother fill out paperwork, and longing to just be able to show my appreciate for mother nature by - yes - hugging a tree. I know climbing trees might not be totally earth-friendly, but it's still all I wanted to do for earth day.

    [Katie]

  • I was on the top of a mountain with the wind blowing into my face. I couldn't see for the fog and snow. I surveyed the small area in front of me. No way of knowing where I was. "Is this it?", I thought. The end of all things. No. I can climb.

    [Joey Bania]

  • Climbing is a very peculiar thing because it can mean both a physical and mental feat. For instance, I can climb to the top of a mountain, or, I climbed the corporate ladder. Its not always something you do with your hands or feet, but something you do with your brain.

  • Thinking of that word make me think of trees. Especially the tree I use to love to climb when I was little. Horrible thing is it is now gone. Along with a lot of my childhood places. All my old schools, all the old play grounds....so much for building for the future...it destroys the past.

  • Smiling to be sure about the smiles of a few. The few and proud, the few smiling from afar. Let's see the smiles of the people of the world as fall fades into the distance. Oh I see the smiles of them all, in ages past and ages to come. What once was will once be, smiles everywhere upon everything. Smiles for the wicked, smiles for the innocent. The smiles does not restrict it's uses for any few.

    [Andy N]

  • Mountains, obstacles, both literal and figurative. It's what we do all day--climb obstacles and jump through hoops to make it by, to make it to the next rung of the ladder. It's how our society is built--that it's not OK to be where we are, rather, we must continually strive to climb higher, or we are worth nothing.

  • Climbing trees has always been a fun pastime, though I am not as able in it as I would like. My childhood was filled with climbing only the most tame and low to the ground trees, with their branches closest to the ground. I suppose I should count myself lucky, for I have never fallen from a tree before. Is that really luck, or just intelligence?

    [James Goux]

I think I regret that now, because really that's kind of a staple of childhood, isn't it? Taking chances, making mistakes, maybe falling. Did I miss out on that? I'm not sure. I'm still young. There's still time.

  • moutains are so tall. I don't understand what people's obsessions are about them. Why climb something to get a high when you can just smoke. But then why smoke when you can jump off a cliff. Why risk that when you can have a bungee cord tied to you. That's where the real fun is at. Climbing is worthless.

  • Climb. That's the ticket. Keep climbing, because no matter what you do, I'll keep standing at the top. You know, before you. Aren't you used to that yet? Didn't it occur to you that maybe the reason he chose me was because I am better? And not in that shitty way. I'm not prettier. But I'm not some over analyzing pain in the ass who thinks everything is an experience and is too busy trying to live her life right that she's not living it at all. Right. Keep climbing.

  • Everyone is trying to climb the corporate ladder nowawadays. And they're willing to do just about anything to do it. It doesn't matter who you step on anymore. It doesn't matter how many friends you lose or how many morally reprehensible things you do; as long as you get that next raise, step onto that next rung, you've done what you need to do in this world. In a lot of ways, it disgusts me. People don't remember basic decency anymore. It used to be that people were more important than money.

How could he be so simple, so stupid, so insensitive to who I am as a human, let alone as a part of his life, his friend... his sexual toy. I suppose a sexual toy is all I am although I already know that I am that, I see that, I know that. I. Am. Okay. With that. He just sees my kindness for weakness, my affections for love. And in this his fears awaken and he draws back.

Continuing to dream of her he spread his wings and tried to fly.

  • Climbing is hard work. I am a lazy man and I don't care much for this climbing business. Fake rocks, make fake climbing is what my grandma always said, and that's something I believe to this day. If you can't find real rocks it's not real climbing, and if you do find real rocks you should look at them and be awed by their size, majesty and age, not monkeying around on them like some kind of goofball.

  • Climbing is one way to scale a mountain. Another possible way is to use the power of positive thinking and float yourself up the bitch. Don't take shit from mountains, alright? What're they gonna do? Avalanche you? Fuck that. Punch every rock on the teeth and break it with your positive-thinking-infused-superfists. That's how they do it in the streets.

It's no like we can tell parents what to do nowadays. But wouldn't that be nice... Only in dreams.

  • there was one time when i was a kid i had to climb a tree...i was terrified of falling.

    but you know what

    i climbed it anyway.

it was a triumphant day. i looked down onto my friends beneath me as i simultaneously watched trafffic at the intersection at the bottom of my street.

i recall the events of that day well.
it was warm and a tad breezy.
and as i sat up there nervous of falling....

i forgot what i was doingand actually fell.

    i don't recall the rest.

but check out this sweet scar.

But I'm going to climb to a place where I'm comfortable.. doing what I want to do. I want to be what I want.. what I want. Not their pick. Mine.

I was finding it quite difficult until someone told me the secret which is to push up with your feet rather than pull with your hands and make sure you have good footholes and handholes before you trty and get to the next one.

    [Mike Coates]

  • It was such a reach. The mountain seemed so far away, but so needed. The climb wasnt the challenge. The climb wasn't the obstacle. The feeling of closing that chapter of life was. The top meant success. Failure was an option. It would be just as easy to climb down, to turn around and pretend life would be ok. But that wasn't what happened that day in June. It was the end.

  • Life is one long game of climbing, always to the top. To the top of the social ladder, where the money is, to the top of your class, where the prestige is. I suppose I just never really understood it. Why are we always so eager to reach the peak of something? Are the shiny new car and the newly-painted house really the purposes of life? Is that really why were put on this planet? I don't think so. I think we should climb rather toward understanding, not up, but sideways.

  • To summit one establishes a goal and then strives to reach that goal. We measure the success of climber by how high the goals he set were, and how artfully he or she went about reaching those goals, but the climber would tell you it was the journey and not the summit that was the best part.

  • I climbed to the top of a tree when I was a kid just to see how high that I would go. It's funny, because whenever I climbed trees-- I was much more graceful than I was the rest of the time. I think it's because when I was climbing trees, I was a little scared, which made me more careful of where I was putting my hands and feet and conscious of the locations of all of my body parts. • I was climbing up the side of the old building, but I couldn't get my footing just right. The entire place smelled like piss, and the walls were chalky to the touch. But the second story seemed so promising, so wildly high and full of possibility. Besides, I bet the people who piss in old houses without stairs are often not caught climbing their way to upper stories. The booze hinders the climbing quite a bit, I'd think. Though, who knows. Maybe it makes them fearless.

  • The man was standing at the base of the cliff getting his gear together when he saw the grizzly charging. He leapt and scrabbled up the rock face, no time to think, then he slipped down and the bear put his fore arm in her jaws, and tore off the arm at the elbow. He began climbing again, now weak with blood. He made it up 20 feet, to a ledge. Then he looked down. He had never seen a grizzly climb rock so well.

  • I climb when the chasms in my heart have collapsed
If I climb I may not reach the depths of space
    But space has collapsed
So does it matter if my achievements are not fulfilled
For I fulfill your fulfillments to my need
And that need resides from a good deed
And indeed the speed to which I reply
May become the definition of a different creed....

But for the life of me I can't find a reason to jump. The view up here is so nice I want to stay for the sun set. People can't bother me up here and I know that I am way higher than them.

    [Scott Thorpe]

  • To climb is to trancend the majest that is in fact the greatest obstacle posed to mankind: a steep inclination of truns and crannys and -oh, who am I kidding. To climb is nothing special, and such a feat has been accomplished time and time again through the ages.

I remember feeling as if I was the king of the world when I would look out over the cliff and see the ocean.

  • mountains high above the whole world seem to conquer and you hike and sweat and if you're on your period that's not fresh. Many people lust for the fresh mountain air and the north face brand name, but I like the view. The last time I was on a mountain, I was looking down onto a cotton ball. The world was a cotton ball.

    [Sarah]

  • i would like to climb to high heights and look down on the world below.
to see the ants of buildings, cars, people and problems slip out of reach of the realm of worry. To breath in the breath of clear clold crisp honest air.
A mountain high doesn't worry about lies or dishonesty. It doesn't question who to be or where to lay its head. It just says...I am.

  • It is simply understandable to believe that "to climb" is to move up a physical realm to another sphere. An example being to move from 2 feet to 3 feet. However, this more aptly describes what one does in trials, they climb to a higher spiritual or emotional sphere. They gain something. That's what they do, they climb up and gain muscle or understanding.

  • It was too tall for me to even bother to get over it. But I told myself that I would, so at this point I had to. That tree. That totally annoying tree. Why had I accepted the dare to climb it. Why? But I did. And so now I had to climb it. It wasn't tall but I was still scared.

  • i have been known to scale mountains the size of everest. i have been kknown to climb mountains that do not exist, of the irrational kind, they're not supposed to be there in the first place, but regardless I climb. I climb and rest, pick out a spot about halfway up my imaginary journey and rest, contemplating the challenges that lay ahead.

    [Mike]

  • Climbing, clambering, sprawling up the walls of your limits. Break over the top, climb over the fears, conquer your reality. Climbing, climbing, climbging, up andd up and up. Never stop and what you must do to get to what you ant. Always be at war with your limits, the little shadow telling you not to do it.

    [Joe]

  • So where exactly am I climbing to? The top of the jungle gym or a cliff or, as corny as it sounds, my future? Have I ever actually put in the effort necessary to climb anywhere, or have I merely been using the stairs?

  • Up the wall I went, climbing faster and higher than I'd ever climbed before. I climb,I climb,I climb and it's sublime,so sublime,so sublime. If ever I recollect that climb a smile coats my face from ear to ear but this isn't the best part about the climb remembrance. The best part is my soul singing in wondrous unison with all that is as I soared ever more higher into the moonlit sky. I climb oh I climb Oh I climb. When all else fails and the turmoil wails,I climb,oh I climb,oh I climb. Suspended in a never ending cornucopia of wonder.

    [Joshua]

  • To climb is to be free, to climb is to be able to transcend whatever is going on around you. Wouldn't you like that? To just stop whatever it was that was going on around you, and to just ... climb? Haven't you ever gotten that feeling, where you just want out? We all need to climb sometimes. But more than that, we need to be able to see that we can climb - we need to see that wall.

  • Climbing a mountain in the Columbia River Gorge, or perhaps not a mountain, but bluffs covered in green, fragrant trees, is something I need to make a priority. Other things get in the way, being too busy or too tired, too full of stress and preoccupation. A climb or hike like that would be healing and renewing to me.

He was laughing, but was in a bad spot. Climbing is mostly for kids. There are some animals that specialize in it.

  • mountains are there to climb - you get a sense of achievement when you have scrambled up three thousand feet, up to the snow level, among the rocks and the dust devils, the world is clean and new and primitive, and you can see for miles and miles and miles. You can tell mountaineers - they are silent, they talk very little, and their eyes have a distant, dreamy look.

Already they are dreaming of their next cold bride....

  • To climb is to branch out. To scale upward in a sprawling wind tunnel of scratch trees and sharp edges. To fall is to let go. Once you're reached a certain high you'll plummet back to the earth. Some people don't come back until they've reached the top.

  • Have you ever heard "the rule of threes for climbing trees"? It's premise is that you must always have 3 of 4 limbs (cute pun, huh?) touching or supported by the surface of the tree.

i think that funny saying kept me from breaking my neck many times. As a child, it was part of the "kids bible" and i taught it to my own son as well.

    Happy climbing.

In childhood, we start by climbing the school social ladder. Then in college we climb the academic ladder. Then real world ladders and finally retirement life ladders...

  • . . .
    powered by movable type
I love to write. Writing is my favorite thing to do. I love poetry, prose, verse, rhyme; anything written I pretty much love. I love to buy notebooks, notepads; anything to write on or with. I am writing a novel right now called "I Love Writing". That's actually just a working title.
I am writing all the time, submitting my poetry and prose to the many different writing contests and writing houses. I'm trying to get my novel professionally published. I love to read the New Yorker, they have great writers there constantly. I have submitted a few articles to the New Yorker for submission to no avail. I like publishers like Simon and Schuster, but they're a little difficult to approach at the writing level that I'm currently at.
Still I spend my days writing prose, being inspired by the poetry of each day. I'm looking to publish with someone like Random House or Shambala Classics for some of my more spiritual stuff. I have three novels currently in the works.
If you came across this text, you weren't supposed to. It's supposed be unseen; much like my current publishing deal with Radcliffe Publishing.
What I really want is to get a job writing full-time for a magazine or high-profile newpaper. I would even write for the Huffington Post, or The Onion.
Now that that has come up, it is clear to me that writing for The Onion would be the ultimate job. Working for The Onion would be a lot more fun than the New Yorker. It would be fun to just write funny, ironic humor all day long.
So it appears that writing invisibly about writing down here has helped to make it so we are getting a little more relevant results from our "ad" publisher. Which is entirely different from a book publisher.
One question I have is: where can I buy writing supplies? Where can I buy writing software? Where can I get books that will help me on writing? I've read the Chicago Manual of Style cover-to-cover, and Strunk and White's Elements of Style three times at least. But I hunger for more. Are there any books on helping to break writer's block? I mean, oneword is great, but I'd like a little more.
I've heard that the guy who did this site also sings for a band called invisibleland, I wonder if their album is on iTunes? He also produced Guru Singh's album, that may be on iTunes as well.
Again, if you're reading this: sorry. There is a purpose—we swear.
