  • Speak up, let your voice be heard. a mic is just a tool to get your message out. Stand up, be proud, let it flow.

    [Sandra]

  • Microphones make things LOUD. Some things are okay loud, but most stuff oughta be a lot quieter. I wonder what they call a quietaphone. A muffler, i guess. I think there should be more mufflers than microphones in the world.

    [Starving Artist]

  • Her voice rang out across the room as she projected into the microphone. The crowd sat quietly until it was over. Her heart rendering version of "I'd give my life for you" from Miss Saigon was heard across the whole room. It had her in tears by the time she had finished it.

    [Lily]

  • a small object in which someone can speak into and is lead trhough speakers which make them louder so the aduince can hear.

    [Eva]

  • so i accidentally typed about a microscope instead of a microphone, opps, i have a bunch of microphones and they make your voice louder so people can hear you.

    [rachael]

  • and then the microphone snapped. No one expected it. It was just there, on the stage. Black as black as an ordinary microphone could be. When she was speaking on it, she didn't even grasp it tightly. Just a slight touch at the tip, and then it broke in the middle-- that wasn't even the part that she was holding.
It was a mystery for a while.
The while continues up to this point

    [abbydabby]

  • science uses microscopes to look at bugs and things its kinda cool to use one, my parents baught me one once for my birthday, we use them at school i think too in biology, microscopes can see tiny things bigger its tight

    [rachael]

  • I'll scream into you, so open your electronic ears...and also I need one, mine is broken.

    [Chris]

  • in the arc, there is a secrt.

    [julie kowalski]

  • used for talking

    [bogdan]

  • microphone. the window to exporting your world view onto others. tool of performers.

    [Jes]

  • I want to grab the mike
    belt out some prose
so that you may see me
    like no one else does
your hand feel so good around mind
    would you just see me
as I sing you this ballad meant only
    for you
    but you wont see me
you can only see past me

    [Jen B]

  • Bill held the microphone in one hand, painfully aware of the sweat dripping down its sleek black sides. His mouth was dry, his heartrate high and something inside his stomach was punching its way out.

"Harry was a good man," He croaked. "He died doing what he loved: inhaling massive amounts of water."

    [Tom Walker]

  • what to write ?i have so many ideas .how to choose?my mind is full of conflicts. first i have

    [marugahaara]

  • It's a phone so small that you can't see it with the naked eye.

    [Alexandre]

  • the microphone buzzed as he spoke into it, it was unclear and weary, as the speaker's voice and demeanour. unclear, wavering, but it didn't hold up its hands and say 'i give up' - as the speaker wished to.

    [Shagun Khare]

  • Interest of the bloody kick boxing microphone like the ready to rumble. Its radiohead in a box, a Twinkie in disguise, a still life portrait of the main character from "friends." Understanding the microphone is a lie and a likeness of the window to the world. It amplifies, it reduces, but it opens up the world to your voice. Let it understand. It will never understand.

    [Zaleznik]

  • loud violent virulent music
Her hand holds the microphone like a gun
    her words pierce the room
    my gut
it doesn't even matter as smoke swirls heavily
    and so does my head
    my stomach
    my heart
she holds me in place with that sound
and reminds me why i'm here
    that i'm here

    [elina hill]

  • i once worked at a sound effects studio where there were alot of microphones. high quality expensive microphones. singers use them too and it reminds me of a great photo i've seen of billie holliday shimmying up to a beautiful silver microphone...so translucent and effervescent and shimmering

    [lara]

  • sounds echoing across distance and time, and space. Sharing, amplifying, building, building until you can't hear it, only it's volume, the magic power of waves...

    [Edward Sauve]

  • sing and dance and sing amplifying the sounds that it picks up sending them through a speaker and making a loud feedback when pointed at it. black and silver. some are wireless. dancers and singers and speeches and loud. Rockstar. i wanna be a rockstar with a microphone! yaya yaya yayayaya

    [April Cox]

  • I once wrote a song, and I was beautiful. At least in my ears. The problem was, that I didn't have the nerve to sing it out loud. And now i forgot the lyrics and the melody.

    [Tue]

  • the first time i performed with my best friend sarah at a coffee shop, i was terrified. it was the first time i had ever had my own microphone. she had her guitar and we both sat on barstools. our friends all came and sipped coffee and listened to us sing our hearts out.

    [meredith]

  • 1 2 3 testing
    1 2 3 testing

    [mimi]

  • I like to sing with a microhone. They make your voice sound louder. Sometimes Microphones sound skeaky when you spit into them.

    [megan]

  • I looked out from backstage, the crowd was so beckoning, as were the empty floorboards. I waited until my cue was called. I walked slowly to the edge of the platform and stared at what was before me. I smiled on the inside and out. I radiated. I had requested this microphone. It was an older make that they didn't sell anymore. It reminded me of my childhood.

    [Chelsea]

  • theres a microphone and you speak into it in order to communicate over long distances. Microphones are in everything these days. Telephones, computers, televisions, even cars. you could speak to your car and it could respond in time.

    [sdldkjslkajf]

  • what is a microphone and what am i supposed to write about? i see uncle choorang singing it away at one of many concerts ... and then us kids dancing all out at the community center, young maffel with me and lani with maffel's even shorter cousin... those were such great times .... i miss those times, the innocence, the fun and carefreeness ... aaaaahhh wher'd it all go? is this minute up yet? i'm looking at the bar on top ... what happens next .... oh, microphone .... hhhhmmmm .... do i just continue writing ?? what is this at the bottom? 'skip' oooohh i'm supposed to enter name and email now. lol ok

    [jax]

  • Talking at the microphone, staring off the stage, waiting for the praise to come, they're waiting for the tune

    [Becky]

  • i love this when in my bass drum with effect so i can be loud with the bass player and feel like im in the future and go there peacefully together with fiery steve and his moose friends all of them.

    [william patrick kelly]

  • What a style! Ilike it.

    [Abid]

  • i need a microphone to amplify my mind
phone me something micro so I can ease and find
the personality that is within my behind
    bridge the gap between reality
    and the fantasy that resides
in the whiles of the line that will exist

    [Jayaimz]

  • there's an empty microphone on an empty stage with a red curtain that looks like it's been drawn thousands of times. there's a shadow of a black and white image of women with tight dresses singing sad songs to soldiers about lost loves.

    [rhonda]

  • one time i dropped a microphone. actually i dropped several in my past. having worked with music since the age in which I could walk. I handled at least 3 recoding instruments daily. I first started really appreciating music in the 5th grade when my dad made me start playing cello. i hated it. it was beautiful. ocello was the best thing that could've happened to me at that point in my life. it served it's purpose, but i had to move on. electric bass was next. then guitar. guitar has carried me so far as freshman year of college. i don't know what my life would be like had I not picked it up. I think it my have contributed to the preservation of my sanity at least somewhat. Microphones on the other hand have played a comparatively less meaningful role in my life.

    [ian]

  • microphone singing music if only i had a good or at least better one.. I mean as good as a voice can be no one takes it seriously unless it's portrayed in the right way.. hence a good microphone... and i need one that makes sound as well as records it.. if you know what I mean.. yes I wish I had a better one.. of course I could get one to use in covert spy operations.. that could be fun.. although not all that thrifty

    [jane]

  • i see a microphone over in the corner. I wonder what my friend uses said microphone for. I think she uses it in conjunction with her web cam to talk to random people. I wonder if this is healthy. Should she really be talking to random people on the internet? Maybe I should get her a better microphone that way she can talk clearer. Or maybe I should tell her to quit and get a life. Cause really...thats just sad.

    [Sara]

  • a device that magnifies sound enabling sound to be transmitted through speakers. Singers or anyone wishing to communicate across a large area and be audible use these frequently.
comes in many sizes. can be very discreet.

    [Andi]

  • about it

    [miguel hernandez]

  • the microphone I have is the gateway to my soul, singing releases my anger, my hatred, my love, my passion. It is my life, my release, my escape.

    [stina]

  • It was one of those little microphones, you know the type thats wrapped around your head and a tiny little black bud sits near your lips.
Well she had one of those with the little box strapped to her belly dancing skirt. I wanted to be her.

    [Marls]

  • Say it loud. Say it proudly inside the shining silver metal coffin. Made with slices of shining moon, this instrument reverberates your fears, your joys, your triumphs. Vibrating with the sound of your own voice, the microphone shakes with the joy of being used as you belt your feelings out to the world.

    [TM]

  • test test hello any one out there, how are we feeling tonight, i hope we can all wake up in the morning and have all of our plans go through. that would be so great, then i can smoke a bong when the heat is over haha.

    [UnderCoverbrother]

  • as i hold the microphone, i can feel my heartbeat racing. the crowd is growing louder, but my heartbeat is drowning out the sound. it's now or nothing. the energy keeps building and building. i step out. silence

    [doug s.]

  • sleep anxiety is the reason i am writing this. it comes in a strange way, swimming throughout my body, creating a disparity between my physical sensations and my mental emotions, where i question the motivations of my enternal biological clock and the way in which my body behaves. why is it that i never feel this anxiety with any other situation

    [thomas roloff]

  • The microphone never really reflects what I say correctly. I always sound too man-ish or trivial which is slightly redundant to say. People are never themselves behind microphones which could be seen as a good or bad thing.

    [Bridgetta J. Parker]

  • I stared at the black foam in front of my mouth, petrified. It looked so foreign and threatening. I knew there was no escape though, and I would have to face my fear sooner or later, and so edged closer and opened my mouth. "Testing."

    [Kaela]

  • I could see myself just like Madonna sinining into the microphone. Idid it while I was pissed out of my brain on champaign...oh it felt so good but sounded reeeeeeeeeeeeel bad. Or so Ive been told.
    Oh the bliss the freedom

    [Marls]

  • I speak, I talk, I try to make sense but the words keep coming up my gullet like a sickness that I can't quite stop. I choke it back and spit out the meaning into the microphone and hope that it will translate what i want to say and not just...

    [Titus Aduxux]

  • it is an instrument to see things that are invisible to the naked eyes. i used microscope to see ameoba in my bio-lab.microscope gives you every finest detail of the objects.

    [geetika]

  • All the red and blue I squirted out of the microphone clenched leg muscled braced skimming a dusty floor dead eyes all helped like a soup and its all dark or its all ful ill keep it to myself anyway

  • music and speaking and speaking in front of people
when i get in front of a microphone, in front of an audience, I can speak.
I am not afraid, I am not intimidated.
I tell my story, I strive to entertain, I want the audience to laugh and think and enjoy.
    FEEDBAAAAAAAAAAAAACK

    [Rachel]

  • there is a microphone in my jacket and I love to hear myself sing. I love to sing into my microphone and watch the sunlight beam. I want to share it with the world and let them all shine though. And if my microphone makes me rich then more for me and you. So thanks for singing

    [Tina]

  • singing. i remember the first concert i ever went to. i remember the fob concert last year. it was amazing. i wish i had been closer. the guy next to me lit up a joint. it was funny. i had so much fun. screaming, singing, laughing, laughing so hard i cried. almost puked. it was amazing. i wish i could go back.

    [katie]

  • the microphone was invented in the seventeeth century by a magician that went by the name of lord magico de la fantastic. he had sold his soul to the devil so that he can leave a lasting impression on earth before his time passed, thus making him immortal in people's minds. however, no one remembers who invented the microphone.

    [sue]

  • there you are.
    sitting, waiting.
    for me to say something
that just might have the chance
    to change the world.

i walk up, i look to the crowd
    and nothing leaves my lips
    my throat ceases to vibrate
and im lost amongst the watchful eyes
who expect but never give back

    [john]

  • It wasn't until she picked up the microphone that she realized, it wasn't Danny she was singing to, it was Elizabeth. She began, "You can't always get what you want..."

    [chris]

  • when i used to look round the room i always found myself surrounded. Quietly i hoped my thoughts could be expunged from my mind... if only i had the courage and the mental microphones of others. Then i could speak my mind without fear of it coming out as just a faint whisper on the morning wind.

    [Robert Ploense]

  • microphone, the instrument of instruments, it exists to capture that which we make. to hold in time one single moment of beauty or freedom. to make to save to exist.....

    [chris]

  • a device used to record a voice

    [mehul]

  • boost the sound and check out the crowd. they wait expectantly. tell and joke and play a song, if you do it right you are the star, if you don't you are just another drunk karaoke singer in the smokey abyss that is your friday night.

    [raphael]

  • Microphones aren't easy things to hold, there is so much expectation in the possesion of a microphone. Unless youre six years old and the microphone is connected to a cassett player by a twirly cord and the only result of your speaking into that microphone is a sixty second recording of twinkle twinkle little star or little bunny foo foo. But in real life, when youve grown up a microphone is usually held at some defining moment. A wedding, a graduation, or even a drunken night in the bar that begins with a few too many margaritas and leads to a super sloppy rendition of some 80s song and your daughter.

    [Amanda]

  • used by many people to speak their minds, to make music, to sing, to record evidence, to have fun, yet no one knows how it works.

    [luis enrique]

  • loud. She spat into the space infront of her mouth. The room was dim and smoky, and a small layer of filth covered the stage where her feet barely stopped moving. The microphone was drenched after the first 25 seconds. Her voice held no harmony, no style or grace.

    [Kris]

  • microphone

    [vernah]

  • the ampliphied voice screeched throgh the microphone stiging our ears. we couldn't believe what was being said. the president was dead.

    [teresa]

  • He leaned forward to talk into what seemed to be a microphone, but at this point in what would become the worst acid trip session ever, it could have been anything. He started yelling. His nose was flaring and bursting with thick snot.

    [John K.]

  • I want to know what it's like up there. I've always dreamed of what it would be like to be on the other side, for once. I stand below, sweaty, shirtless, screaming their lyrics and throwing my fists in the air with hundreds or even thousands of others... But I've never been able to see it from the stage.

    [Spencer]

  • there once was a microphone that was used by gene kelly. it never forgot the way his lips moved with such grace and beauty. the way they seemed not to be talking to the crowd, but to the microphone itself.

    [katie]

  • i see the microphone. i see it fall. out of the hands of the one i shot. he wanted to be the leading man, when really, he was a mediocre singer. She shall now sing. and sing hard. i will back he up with my mandolin, as always. her twang, so sweet. with billy on the drums, we cannot go wrong.

    [albert]

  • mind

    [nicole]

  • microphone is a instrument to talk into so other people can hear you
either by amplaphying it or sending it through things suchs as telophones or computers
they are used for signing recording communication

    [Eric]

  • the microphone is the singers key to the rest of the world. without it, he would not be heard by the masses. it gives him power, authority, and command of the entire audience. no matter what he says into it, they will love him....always

    [Doug]

  • i got the microphone and started singing as loud as i could. my voice is not that pleasant, so people started screaming louder than my singing. Some tomatoes were flying right to my face. But i didn't give up. I kept holding that microphone as if i had to prove that, yes, i can sing.

    [Joey from the Block]

  • It will make you loud. It will make funny high-pitched noises. It signifies performing, it makes performing easy, because no one will ignore you and there is no need to work to project your voice. It is a good thing to have around when you want yourself to be heard, and it will blow your mind.

    [erica]

  • i wish i had a microphone attached to me. "why do you mock me like that if my voice doesn't sound that way??" perhaps the point of mockery is beyond your drunken understanding. i don't apologize for wanting to record your stupidity. i wish i could just put everything together, to pick me up when i'm feeling down. that's all you are good for: a cheap laugh.

    [eryn]

  • I got two turn table and a microphone. I guess that's been written before. I don't really have much experience with microphones, but every experience I've had with one has been really fun. I love me some karaoke, but then again most people do. People are vain. They love everything about themselves including their voices.

    [Veronica]

  • I don't much like microphones. When I talk, or especially sing into them, I sound very young. I don't like to seem young in any way because I feel much to mature for my age already. Yesterday Ariel said I should change my last name to Ryan-Pagano, I wish I could. I would marry him right now. That would be wonderful. Maybe one day...

    [ashley]

  • stepping up to the microphone i can always look into a crowd and sense a longing. maybe not something truly tangible, but all the eyes directed my way seem to be tearing apart my very individualism and simply seeing me as a complex amalgamation of ideals and one liners. well today, today things will change.

    [david]

  • It's a recording device used in many stereo sound systems to record music, voices, etc. into a tape, or any other storage media. A microphone is most often made of a few chips and a modulator that picks up vibrations, or something of the sort. I enjoy microphones, but sometimes, software like Ventrilo can be spammed with stupid people who don't know how to property configure microphones.

    [Justin Woo]

  • mic. i walk up. i see the faces of all the critics. they are judging me before i have said a word. i pull the mic from the stand and say "how is everyone doing tonight" well apparently there was not enough booze running through the veins of these masochistic fellons for i received no response.

    [Lane]

  • I was there with the microphone, worried about what I would say. The peopel were all looking at me in horror, knowing that the end of time was coming . . . and that it was my fault. I wanted to argue with them. T o tell them "no, no! It's not my fault!" But the thing growing out of my forehead told a different story. I couldn't argue with somethign like that. No one could. So I just cried.

    [Jacob]

  • Beautiful people, guys. Shirts off, beautiful screams and lyrics. A shirt with a microphone wrapped around the neck.

    [Victoria]

  • it wASN'T SUPPOED TO BE THERE. THE ROOM WAS EMPTY. EVERYTHING WAS GONE AFTER THE MURDER. AFTER THE EVIDENCE WAS TAKEN AFTER THE BODIES REMOVED. WHY WAS THE MICRPHONE THERE. oN A STAND. LIVE. acONNECTED TO A AMPLIFIER?
wHY DID THE DOOR JUST LOCK?

    [ED]

  • He stood oon the stage thinking 'my god, I'm actually here' and the sea of faces was like a beast with many eyes, all looking up at him. He stepped back for a moment, terrified of the power in all these eyss, that seemed to strip him bare, hunting for cracks, probing for who he was, to eat him alive. The guitarist slashed out the first riff, the drums began to kick.

He stepped forward to the microphone, grasped it and, as his voice thundered out through the immense speakers to either side he and the beast became one.

    [Roger Wells]

  • i sing into this, and its pretty tight i mean like, its my voice just spurting outta speakers and things. sometimes i just talk into it though, and i give lame long lectures about trite and boring subjects. occasionally, ill blow into it or pretend that the item is a part of the male genitalia, mostly i focus on the singing though.

    [jriz]

  • She stood at the edge of the stage, waiting for her cue. Beads of sweat dripped from her forehead, her breath quivering slightly as her stomach churned nervously. The stage was dark and the curtain had yet to rise. Back stage she heard one of the stage hands whisper a "ready?" Just as the curtain began to rise. Ahead of her the crowd sat, dark and anonymous.

    [Kaye]

  • The sound of the microphone blaring with the guitars and the drums reverberated within my head. I couldn't think anymore. The ringing just wouldn't go away. I have decided to never again do a three day tour with led zepplin on the front stage.

    [Patrick Davis]

  • an object you speak into, it records your voice or songs or amplifies your voice when speaking to an audience

    [jeanette]

  • Is an amazing object that is so useful to every one and with out it it would be a sad sad world but sadly we have a sad sad world any ways.

    [Mariah]

  • I was just talking about these, actually. In the show "Spring Awakening," which has beautiful beautiful music, the characters, who are 19th century German schoolkids (teens), pull out microphones to sing the songs. Words like "stereo" reveal that the lyrics and songs are contemporized. So beautiful.

    [meme]

  • that single word inspires as much fear as the real thing.

    [Frances]

  • the microphone WAS BLEAK AND HEAVY, THOUGHTS FILLED MY MIND IF BEIN G AFRAID AND SCARED. WILL THEY LIKE ME OUT THERE? WILL THEY REALLY? I walked out and the ambiance was such a reality.

    [Steve Chapman]

  • between curtains of green moss my old mask comes to life and takes the form of a small genial person with autonomous thought. we shake hands and i ask where he has been and there is never a moment of awkwardness except when it comes to heritage.

    [douglas college]

  • Pushing words over the huge lump in my throat, I introduce myself quietly. I'm not sure what I expected, as I skim over the bored faces in the crowd. Applause? At the sound of an introduction? I smile. This is going to be a long night.

    [Jade]

  • toes of technology

    [Laura B.]

  • singing and stages I have stage fright. I can't dance in front of people. I don't like celebrities or tv. I don't like my voice. I'm too shrill, especially when I'm upset. Mr. Microphone. Oh children's toys. I miss being little.

    [Isabelle]

  • i become nervous at the sight of one. it startles me and makes me wonder if i will be speaking in front of a crowd. i read somewhere that a ridiculous amount of people would actually rather die than speak in front of a crowd. am i one of those people. i don't think so. i hope not at least.

    [jamie]

  • She fell to her knees, the microphone rolling out of her hands and coming to a stop just before the edge of the stage. It was too much, she could no longer continue pretending. The audience looked on with unease, wondering what she was doing. Was it a part of her act? they wondered. Nobody moved. Nobody breathed. The room was silent.

    [Carrie]

  • Give it to her. She deserves it. Young rouge painted cheeks. Bright blue eye shadow. Fake nails. The type that's made of plastic and looks like a finger that's been chopped off when they lay strewn across the floor. Little breasts, soon to develop into a voluptuous mountain of lust, that will be hidden oh-so carefully by her mother.

    [SM]

  • I hate microphones. They are so intimidating. Make you loud and obnoxious sounding. I wish that people could just be kind enough to be quiet so that they aren't even needed...or they meet in smaller venues or groups so that microphones wouldn't be needed at all. I

    [Teresa]

  • michrophones have come a long way since their inception. the ones in cell phones seem to be inadequate and muffled and need more modifications so they make better quality ones. they are continuing to use some antiquated ideas and in this day age they need to be updated.

    [dee]

  • so the word is still microphone. grease is also the word. the word that you heard. its got time. it's got motion. it's got meaning. grease is a time. it's a place. it's a notion.and grease is the way we are feeling. fuck. i'm bored. and i love musicals.

    [Gabriel]

  • Microphones personify tthe wanting of someone to be heard. Myself, I prefer for my actions to speak for me. I hear many things about how the media are canted and loyal to those who would oppress us, which shows me that while you cannot hear a person's words, you can still feel their actions in your life.

    [Seth]

  • sing, baby, sing!!! your voice is so pure that it touches each body, each heart, each soul. A new instrument to introduce to the world-- your voice singing into the microphone reverberating all around me.

    [michelle]

  • im scared of the microphone. when i put my lips to the metal, i feel like what i say really matters. everyone will actually think about what goes into it, then judge it.

    [JULIAN]

  • ...

    [Maria]

  • As I stand here motionless, I don't know what to say. The audiance is waiting for my response but only a crack exits my throat. I am scared, waiting for them to let me leave the stage.

    [Debbie]

  • check one two three. is this thing on? because its starting to feel like no one can hear me. like i'm trapped and the forecast isn't clearing in the near future. check one two three. this microphone only goes one way, there are no returns.

    [chelsea]

  • Microphone? That seems like silliness. I mean, do you know how recently microphones were made? What did they do before that?

The just had really good lungs and strong diaphragms.

They yelled as loud as they could.

Sometimes, technology makes things too easy, now we're too lazy to have strong diaphragms.

    [Steve]

  • There I was, one man before a crowd, the only thing sharing my on-stage torment was a singe microphone. I stepped up to my brother in torture and began to speak words of undying truth and agony, words of life and death, salvation and damnation. Words that could save a nation, or bring it to its knees at the hands of its people. I finish and the crowd roars with the scream of a thousand lifes then...Darkness.

    [Sanus Kanarik]

  • I stood there terrified. I'd recited the words all night, all day, and this moment needed to count, I needed my words to be heard, validated, understood, accepted. I spoke every line perfectly, they stood and clapped. The MC gave me a hug. I never felt so proud of myself.

    [CarlaB]

  • I am so quiet that, no one hears me
my voice is too small to get any attention
among the crowds, I am only a small speck
I need to be heard by someone, anyone
but then you come along, and theres a change
you listen to me, my small quiet voice
you hear me above the crowds that roar
you hear it loud and clear
as if i spoke using a microphone
maybe I'm not so small after all
I know, you can hear me

    [chrissy]

  • He stood in front of the microphone. It stared back at him, waiting, inexorable. The sweat rolled down the back of his neck, scooting silently around that mole that he knows he should get checked out. "Uh. . " And that was all. The buzzer went off, the audience stood up, and everyone filed out. His hands stopped their shaking, and he let out a shaky sigh.

    [matt]

  • LA do da hah dah dhdhdh. now stand up and tell me what's the dealio, jo--sephine. netter's mom goes to coolege.

    [ashley]

  • I've always wanted a microphone. I had a Fisher Price recorder...I loved speaking into the microphone and then listening back to how different my voice sounded. Now...I feel uncomfortable in fron of one.

    [Lauren]

  • There was once a microphone. It was a good microphone and it had seen work from many different people and from many different places. It was the microphone that Elvis belted out hits with, and the microphone that Buddy Holly crooned with. It was the microphone that comedians would later use to tell jokes. It was also the microphone that families would use at get togethers, mostly to use it to amplify their own laughter.

  • microphones are very fickle. sometimes they pick up my voice, others they dont. i think it has something to do with my pretty monotonous voice. I dont believe its monotonous, but as i play rock band and attempt to sing [usually, i dont sing] it turns out to be around the same pitch every single time. I dont get it, microphones actually.... well, we need a new one. A real one. especially for our band.

  • A microphone is something you sing into . It lets you record your voice and hear what you sound like. It amplifies your voice over speakers. I love to sing into a microphone especially when I karoke. Microphones come in all sorts and sizes. I love the big old fashioned microphone. They amplify sound better. I also like the miny microphones you have for your headset. they are awesome.

  • I like to talk into microphones. They amplify my voice. If i was going to talk to a large group of people, I would use a microphone so that everyone would be able to hear me. He could play into the microphone, any instrument he chooses, it could sound like nothing but noise, I'd love him anyway. They say love is false, we only love people for what they give us, but I love him for his love, and what does that leave us with? I love him and his music and his art and his voice, and those don't benefit me, so I suppose I love him for his love, and love does exist.

Also microphones are typically black they are always cooler when they are gold or silver though. My friend has a microphone that is covered by a circular screen that will protect the sound quality, and h

  • Susan walked slowly up to the microphone. She was wondering why she had let her friends talk her into coming to a keroke bar in the first place. She certainly didn't have any singing talent, and now she would be making a fool of herself. THe music bagan and Susan took the micropnone in her hand. Just as she was beginning to sing, a loud bell began to ring. It grew louder and louder as the music faded away. Suddenly the room was filled with smoke and flames began to dance across the back of the stage. "saved by the bell," thought Susan, as she made a dash for the door.

  • The first time I stepped up to the microphone to sing alone was in sixth grade. I asked my parents how I did, they of course said wonder. I asked my friends. They said they couldn't hear me.

Sometimes the disenchantment is just what you need.

  • I have this microphone and sometimes I sin it to it but nothing really good comes at. I also have this speakerphone but whenever I talk into that the sound coming out is so beautiful it makes birds cry. I would say doves cry, but that's sort of racist right? To suggest only one creature would cry. So all the birds cry because it's so lovely, it's better then they're songs and they are sad that they don't have it for their own. So I think what I'll do is start recording my speakerphone sounds and donate it to the birds. I was always fond of charity.

  • microphones are one of my favorite things to use while filming. Without them your film is useless and without usable film, you'll be laughed out of the screening before anyone is able to know your name. Face it, in order to get your voice heard, YOU need to be heard in the first place. I mean without being heard, people won't listen, and if they don't listen

That mike that introduces something.

Instead in was in my own hand, my own shaking, trembling, pasty white hand. As I brought the black microphone up to my lips and opened my mouth to speak, it occurred to me that I had no idea what I was going to say. None at all.

Maybe the microphone can say all those things for me.

The crowd begged for more. What else could she sing? She had went through all of her prepared material. Then it came to her, she'd sing "God Bless America". She could do that piece without accompaniment. So she began. She was met with dead silence. The audience was not buying it; she'd lost them. She ended and was greeted with polite applause. Dejected, she replaced the microphone on its stand and quietly left the stage.

    [Kate]

  • i stepped back and looked at it. i never had a very clear voice and it cracks so often anyway. i couldnt see past three feet in front of me. who set up these fucking lights? blind, i'm blind up here. notecards might have been a good back up. on the count of three, take a step forward. take a step forward and talk.

  • I spit words into the microphone. My voice is so loud that I don't need the mic to increase my volume. I love the sound and the fury of my voice as I say my words out loud. I speak my truth and my truth is beautiful. I only wish to share with the world the words of my personal wisdom.

    [Natasha]

  • I like to sing but in front of people it makes me nervous because i'm not that good but i shouldnt care right? but i do because yea. microphones are very varied because there are different kinds like cardioid and hypercardioid and there are different bom coveringds for it to prevent room tone and/or wind so there are fuzzy ones called dead rabbits and not fuzzy ones that are styrophoam esque an d

    [Alyssa]

  • it crackles, it beeps, it's a microphone! people speak into it, and enjoy it. people hear what is being spoken, and respond to it. it is amplification of the human voice, it is amplification of the ability to appeal to all.

  • My name is microphone. I tell the world who should be listened to in the room at a given time. Sometimes I like to point at speakers and just squeal. I love those guys. I am told that we look really good together. All slick and black and smooth.

  • haha, i study music tech and audio systems as my degree so i could go on for days about microphones!mics are transducers that convert sound into electricity by sensing changes in air pressure induced by sound waves with a light membrane called a diaphragm which vibrates in a magnetic field :P

  • I wish I could sing. I think I can carry a tune in my head, and I'm often presented with the opportunity to sing in public (ie Rock Band), but I always fake-sing, instead of really trying, for fear of being made fun of while, well, really trying.
Also, one time when I was little, I had a fight with my friend while we were singing karaoke. We were really polite about it.

    [Carrie Coulter]

  • it stood vacant on the stage, only the spotlight for company. Everyone at the club was waiting and wondering who was suposed to be on and why they weren't there yet. They didn't have any clue that just 12 feet away lay the body of a poet.

    [michael]

  • She put her mouth up to the microphone and stared nervously out at the crowd. Sure, reading poetry had sounded like an excellent idea when she had signed up for it, but now that it was her turn to actually READ it was another story altogether. What made it worse was that you could actually see all of the people in the audience; it was so different from other performances where the stage was so dark that you couldn't see any faces.

    [Michele]

  • She held it close and sang, as if only to him. It was a masterful performance. The critics were effusive, but to her, it didn't matter for once. It was too late. He didn't want to hear it.

Anyhoo microphones were a good idea because now people don't have to yell they can talk normal and their throat hurts less. Yay microphones!

    [Ash]

  • My friend Keeley loves to sing. When we were younger, I didn't like her. But as we grew Up, I absolutely fell in love with her and her red hair and her freckles and her voice. When we graduated from High school, she sang. She sang a song by Coldplay and I sat there and cried. And now she's in Boston, at Berkley College of Music. She's amazing and I tell everyone to listen to her. She'll be home soon.

    [Barbara]

  • i looked at the crowd. so many expectant faces. what if i messed up? i don't think i can do this. and that microphone. i'd seen what people do to those.
they practically make out with them. i was a bit apprehensive about singing into something some other random singer had licked.

    [mollie]

  • I stood in front of the microphone, which stood in front of a smoky, crowded bar. There was nothing but silence. They were waiting for me to say something, do something. I was awestruck. How did I end up here? I wondered, perhaps outloud. It didn't make the audience any more understanding.

    [Daniel]

  • singing into a microphone is fun you can be a popstar or sing opera and you dont have to have a good voice. You dont always have to sing and you can use it to announce things. they use it on the radio., you can get wireless microphones and they make your voice louder and they can be fun. beatboxers use a microphone. i havent got one, i would like one, they are expensive and you need a pa systrem to run one. my daugter wanted one but never got one for her birthday. I like them.

    [Natalea]

  • i stand in the middle of the stage with its black hole of a mouth staring at me. it magnifies my every thought and command. this is the source of my power. i stand in front of the mouth and speak; i now hold the attention of everyone in the room.

  • Talking laughing and at drama club we didn't need them because everyone could talk loudly enough anyway but we still had them and they were always screeching in performances and going buggy and pissing people off so why did we have them in the first place? Bloody expensive things when we could have used other stuff instead. I hate using one, my voice sounds strange, and I'm scared that's what I really sound like.

    [Mariel]

  • i was playing guitar once and a microphone zapped my lip when i went to sing into it. that hurt, kinda like zipping your wang while trying to get your jeans on. those are two pains you don't ever really want to experience. i can't really think of any small, quotidian zings worse than those. worse than stubbed toes

    [n]

  • when i think of microphone i think of stages. I have no stage fright but what i am afriad of is being mis understood. I guess I'm the sensitive kind.

    [Jamon]

  • Microphones, I bloody hate them. They never work for me, and when they do work, it is only for one of my games and not the other. For instance, one of them I purchased only worked for CS:S and not TF:2, so I got another (that one broke)one and it worked for TF:2, but not CS:S

    [Alexander v. Amelia]

  • He walks up to the stage and picks up the microphone. His voice echoes through millions of voices that shout back at him. He lives for this. The microphone amplifies his words for the crowd and tells them his story.

    [Heather]

  • It is used to talk. used to make you're voice louder with the help of speakers. It can enhance you're voice using software. It can be used to grab attention. It can be used to beat box or hit someone with. You can use it to swing at things. You can get it in many shapes and sizes.

  • I stood transfixed on stage, microphone in hand - it felt like a lead cigar dangling from my finger tips.

    [hannah]

  • I like singing in the car, but on stage there is no way I would. My mom is a singer; I am a dancer. My voice will only be heard in the car. I sometimes wish I could sing for the fun of it, but I'm scared and self conscious. One day I will.

    [Mimi]

  • The podium stood abandoned and hollow. The microphone perched idly in its roost squawked and squealed with feedback from the overturned speaker. The rush of seconds passed, the flurry fleeing of bodies. Panicked paranoia (who's next?!), chaotic confusion, and gunshot-initiated instincts pushed a hundred people through two doors in mere seconds. Overturned chairs, spilled purses, and trampled water bottles litter and mark the many paths taken. One man stands reserved, high upon the catwalk, amidst the lights, the burning incandescence.

    [Carn]

  • I had to polish the microphone before the president made his speech tonight. I LOVE MY JOB. I have OCD, so I love clean stuff, like the US President's microphone. LaLalala...I do hope I did a good job that he would promote me to speaker polisher.

  • I held on to the microphone, eyes scanning the crowds. There was the thumping of my heart that revealed my nervousness, though a part of me was convinced that it could have been adrenaline.

  • Today I feel different, I don´t know what happened to the world. Weird, indeed, but what more can I do about myself. Today, I feel like a soul singer with a microphone in his hands singing to the world.

    [aranza]

  • the microphone sat unattended. No one dared to speak into it for fear of being judged for the words that they uttered. Finally, a young boy stepped up to the podium. The audience silence and all eyes fell on the boy. He was small and thin but stood tall with determination. He picked up the microphone and uttered the words: "Try now before you are engulfed with your own fear of failure." The crowd bent then on self reflection and wondered if the boy was speaking directly to each of them for the things that they dared not risk in their lives.

Then the boy stepped down and began to live his life.

  • A microphone is used in singing, performance, and public speaking. It projects sound to large areas and enables large groups of people to hear what is being said clearly without having to be near to the person talking. Microphones are also used in a number of other ways, such as to project the sounds of instruments.

    [Meagan]

  • He stood at the mic and looked out over the crowd. There were people everywhere it seemed. The air was heavy with his sweat.

He paused to look at the actual device, shining in the stage lights, the wire mesh looking like it was alive. All of a sudden he wanted to lick it. He couldn't tell why, he just knew.

When he parted his lips to begin his speech, he heard them reverberate in the device and he worried that he'd sound like a fool.

  • As the micropone squeaks, I turn around, to look at the guy with the wires in his hands. He looks to me, dazzled by the spotlights throwing an halo around my head. He shrugs, lays down his wires and walks away. I am left there on my own, it seems, to sing or to walk away too.
