  • that what my body is. A lot of substance. I am a woman of substance on so many levels. I like substance in my life. I like my life to be rich and full and ever changing. I would like my body to have less substance. That is all I can think about right now and I think I still have time left :-)

    [Kari]

  • A lot of meanings. A person who has substance is someone with a lot going for him or her. They have a lot to offer. They are interesting individuals. They have had much life experience and when sharing their stories, seem to take you there with them. I like being around people with substance. They know who they are and where they are going.

  • there is a substance unknown to man that will cure cancer and give us back our lives.
this substance, whatever it may be, is at an all time high for the risks it will encounter during it's lifetime.
hopefully, we will find it and save it before it's too late.

  • substance is an album by joy division, it is a substantial album of greatest hits. substance is required in order to create any worthwhile art.

    [Shakeyjoe]

  • Substance. Substance is the stuff of things. All things lacking substance lack heart, they lack soul, they lack "umph". Without substance our lives would be grey, confusing, undefined. Substance controls our media, our entertainment, our love lives. Substance can be a spark or a laugh or a gritty detail that's harrowing to the core.

  • the substance of life is sometimes unknown. I believe that there is no real answer to why we are here. You must find your own life substance or readson for life. You can not reach outside yourself to find this. You must look within. Only you can answer the question of what you will lieave behind when your time is over. If you waste your life only you can bw responsible.

I scream freedom in every waking moment. every caucasian walk and causcasian talk. I speak. I am no longer yours, so get rid of that smirk and continue walking.

    [chelsey]

  • substance is what this paragraph will lack, simply because at the moment, i was required to say something about it and i can't. however, we often, in this technologically prolific age, claim to have substance, when in actuality we really just have a new way of saying the same old thing. what we need is ideas, the real substance, and not a new spin on the old.

  • Give me someone with substance, someone I can respect. Someone who can light a fire with their mind. Drug Substances, are obviously not good for you, but i believe they make life worth living, they widen your horizon about everything in life, i believe they are what's good for you in life. • the substance of a human being is something that requires disgust. A human being cannot exist without love and without hatred. That is what makes the substance of a person. [Jen]

  • This substance that I have found is made of jello and rocks. I found it in a box labeled: artificial flavoring of television sets. So does this mean the televisions taste like grainy jello? Researchers, after experimenting, have found that television sets, while being entertaining mostly, are also a common desert in most Asian and Presbyterian countries. So does this make the US nuts? Probably.

Then, time came, when he was treating her like not much more than a prostitute, something to be ordered up on a whim. It had been six months since he'd last visited her place. Extension, existence ability to be sensed in some way or another. Substance is also another name for drug by which a euphemism is employed to try to give it a bad name. Also every time we think of substance it seems there is something below stance and so there can be something above stance. So maybe there is something other than substance and this is a world view called Dualism. Substance is.

It is much easier to talk about things like a new pair of shoes, the weather, or what you had for lunch that day. Talking about topics that actually have substance are oftentimes scary. • The word originates from Latin substantia, literally meaning "standing under". The word was used to translate the Greek philosophical term ousia.

Substance theory, or substance attribute theory, is an ontological theory about objecthood, positing that a substance is distinct from its properties.

Substance is a core concept of ontology and metaphysics. Indeed, philosophies may be divided into monist philosophies, and dualist or pluralist philosophies. Monistic views, often associated with immanence, hold that there is only one substance, sometimes called God or Being. Dualist and pluralist views hold that two or more types of substances do exist, and that these can be placed in an ontological hierarchy. Platonism or Aristotelianism considers that there are various substances, while stoicism and Spinoza hold that there is only one substance.

  • there is a lot that can be said about substance. Does something that a person have to say really have any substance? Can one persons view change the world, and cause a revolution? What has happened to all of the great speakers in this world, the world changers, that have caused people in the past to not want to be afraid anymore and put up with all of the bull shit? If we want change, we need to demand it. IF we want change, we need to forge it. Take it, and remind our leaders that we are country made up of free men a women, and we are no longer hiding in the closet. We no longer want them to be our voice, but our ears and our mouth pieces. We have sold our selves cheep.

  • substance? i guess it's something we search for, whether it be by word or via tooth or tongue to taste, maybe in terms of plot or the notes in a song...nothing artificial. no gimmicks. only something whole. the soul of an inanimate thing.

  • Substance: Some might think it's a simple word, generally thought of as a a chemical or something. But really, substance has much more behind it. People have substance, animals, houses, everything. It's the stuff that is put into you and builds you up. It's what makes YOU, you.

  • substance.

when I think of substance I think of drugs and alcohol and mostly of abuse.

The first image that comes to mind is a young, preppy high school kid with everything going for him. He walks into a bar for the firs time with his best friend and is offered a hit of cocaine from the back of a toilet seat.

His entire world comes crashing down.

    This boy is me.

  • Things nowadays on the radio and television have no substance....I hear this, and start looking....its not true. Many songs talk about love, sadness, life, etc. Television is all fake. Sitcoms are not how people live their lives. Yet we want to use their substance to make our own. Why do we?

  • Substance abuse..... something that might be ok if people didn't brag about it all the time. It's one thing to use things to learn new things, then to stop when things are learned. I'm ok with that.... but when people keep doing it, they end up fucking themselves over... like my dad, who ended up killing himself over it. Kinda sucks, right?

    [Haley Kooyman]

  • when things have substance that means they mean something. you create, fill, dream, love. lacking substance we're empty, unfulfilled, need to create something. Even when we try to focus on a single sound, thought, item...our minds wander and we get frustrated that we are not able to control it. What would it be like to just do and not have to think? Is this something that animals alone have the luxury of? And who's to say that they are not also always thinking? Sometime I get so tired of thinking that it would seem better just to die. • . . .
    powered by movable type
I love to write. Writing is my favorite thing to do. I love poetry, prose, verse, rhyme; anything written I pretty much love. I love to buy notebooks, notepads; anything to write on or with. I am writing a novel right now called "I Love Writing". That's actually just a working title.
I am writing all the time, submitting my poetry and prose to the many different writing contests and writing houses. I'm trying to get my novel professionally published. I love to read the New Yorker, they have great writers there constantly. I have submitted a few articles to the New Yorker for submission to no avail. I like publishers like Simon and Schuster, but they're a little difficult to approach at the writing level that I'm currently at.
Still I spend my days writing prose, being inspired by the poetry of each day. I'm looking to publish with someone like Random House or Shambala Classics for some of my more spiritual stuff. I have three novels currently in the works.
If you came across this text, you weren't supposed to. It's supposed be unseen; much like my current publishing deal with Radcliffe Publishing.
What I really want is to get a job writing full-time for a magazine or high-profile newpaper. I would even write for the Huffington Post, or The Onion.
Now that that has come up, it is clear to me that writing for The Onion would be the ultimate job. Working for The Onion would be a lot more fun than the New Yorker. It would be fun to just write funny, ironic humor all day long.
So it appears that writing invisibly about writing down here has helped to make it so we are getting a little more relevant results from our "ad" publisher. Which is entirely different from a book publisher.
One question I have is: where can I buy writing supplies? Where can I buy writing software? Where can I get books that will help me on writing? I've read the Chicago Manual of Style cover-to-cover, and Strunk and White's Elements of Style three times at least. But I hunger for more. Are there any books on helping to break writer's block? I mean, oneword is great, but I'd like a little more.
I've heard that the guy who did this site also sings for a band called invisibleland, I wonder if their album is on iTunes? He also produced Guru Singh's album, that may be on iTunes as well.
Again, if you're reading this: sorry. There is a purpose—we swear.
