  • I have a pretty red scarf from India in my drawer. I never wear it, though, because I'm not a scraf kind of person. It looks nice, but I don't think it looks nice on me.

Scarves are a nice fashion statement. They really help to dress up a plain blouse.

  • pretty, silk or nylon, used as an excessory. Or a wool or thick scarf used for warmth in cold weather climates. Worn over the face and around the neck for warmth. Some are handmade & warm & thick. Varies in colors. Can be used for hair ties or to hold your hair back as in a pony tail or as a head band. Were very popular for that in the 50ties. Not used much anymore I don't think except by the older generation.

  • The scarf billowed around her neck caught in the currents of the wind. He caught it just before it blew away. He grabbed the other end and pulled her closer until they were face to face. The tears glistened in her eyes.
"I promised I would never leave and I am keeping that promise." He said as his lips met hers.

  • Scarf, I love it. I wear it in the winter. Or I use it to whip a friend. It could be used to hand yourself or an enemy. Or it could be used to tie something down. Colourful scarfs are my favorite. I bought a nice one for carol once.

When I returned inside, the box was on the floor, the pizza had vanished, and Morgan was sitting at the back door with her head down in guilt. She knew it was wrong--but worth it!

I couldn't figure out how NOT to drop stitches. Still, I presented it to him, and he said he was pleased. I never did see him wear it, but once someone saw him stop his car and retrieve it from the side of the road where it had blown off his neck.

  • The blistering wind billowed my red and yellow striped scarf. The scarf bubbled up, tugging from my neck, flailing in the autumn leaves. It was one huge bubble filling with the crisp autumn air, and it begged me to come with it and play like I used to have time to when I was little. So I did. I ran around the feilds, rejoicing under the blue sky. I was playing again, connected with my childhod. Thank you to the scarf for helping.

  • I learned to knit last year. We started with a scarf. It was pretty easy, though I got bored with it pretty quick. I made a bunch of them though. One for my aunt, MIL, mom, friends, husband, dog, strangers, etc. I've moved on now to more advanced items - sweaters and such. But scarfs are easy things you don't need to think about while knitting. Good to do while watching TV. I made one for myself that's WAY too long. But I guess that's better than too short. Geez, isn't 60 seconds up yet? How long can I make this anyway?

  • The scarf hung quietly in the closet- it hadn't been touched since- well- winter.

He reached out and rubbed it between his fingers, remembering quietly how it felt when it was cold- when it was wrapped around her neck and soaked in soft perfume.

It wasn't long before she walked around the corner, seeing him with the closet door open, and the scarf in his hands. She asked him, smiling. "What are you up to?" And he simply replied, "Memories."

The texture of the wool was cheap and thick and he couldn't help but scratch gruffly at his neck for the entire walk. He remembered the day he purchased it as he adjusted it for the second time, crossing the street at a hasty pace. It was at a world trade market and he managed to buy it for less than the asking price from a dark-eyed tradesmen who claimed an old woman by way of Poland knit them.

    [talkativebee]

  • The bright red scarf was tight around his neck. Tears fell from his eyes as he remembered, at the last minute, that the ligature had been a gift from his now gone grandmother. Others would surely have found a better use for the elegant silk gift, but he--always instead of the group--used it for this purpose. With a slight intake of breath, he pushed off the stool which had been holding him up...

    [Dani]

  • My initial reaction is the piece of clothing, then I realize how full I am, and that I'm from a..."robust," shall we say? family, and that in America today, we just tend to over-eat.

Suddenly, I forget about fashion and think about one of my favorite past-times - borne out of necessity: Scarfing.

I usually don't have time to eat, and certainly don't eat much that warrants enjoying. Eating, for the most part, becomes just my need for sustenance - and quickly since I probably have somewhere to be.

Truth is, I'm so good at scarfing now that even if I find something amazing to eat, I'll just revert to scarfing the damn thing.

I should probably wear the noun of this word more often, wrapped around my neck. And pulled tightly.

A scarf to stop the scarfing.

At least it didn't say "snarf." That word alone almost ruined "Thundercats."

  • That winter, she wore a thick woolen scarf to hide the scars around her graceful neck. Then spring came and she switched to silk, but her friends wondered why so beautiful an expanse of porcelain skin should be kept veiled behind soft yellow folds of doubt. They urged her to take it off, and when summer blew in hot from the south she finally gave in to their pleading. However, those hideous marks drove each and every loved one far away from her, away from the glorious tragedy that she lived and breathed and hated. • The red scarf slowly fell of her nude body to reveal the scars made by her former lover. It sickened me to the extend that I forgot what the rest of her perfection, and pretended to to feel oblivious. As it slowly it slid down , the red silk fluttered, much like a damaged butterfly. This , in contrast to the previous, reminded me why I loved her in this damaged state; that, even thought her body was broken, her soul and mind was stronger than any I have ever encountered. To think, my love realisation, triggered by the same red scarf once used to bound her.

He didn't notice the color of her hair or anything else she had been wearing. Just the scarf. It was the same color that had strangled his wife, the same object. It drove him mad.

  • I like fluffy ones. I only really wear them when I have a bad cold and I want my neck to be warm so I can get better. I have a stripy one from Gap, a stripy one from Primark and a black one from somewhere that I stole off my mum. Scarfs are impractical for me most of the time and I'm not fantastic at wearing them. The ones indie/ emo kids wear are stupid, I think. Don't wear them.

  • it was a week after that DAY, and you stole my scarf. frustrated as you pranced around with it tied securely around your neck.
unaffected after you tossed me aside, you did not seem to mind having some lingering attachment to me.
The day when you eventually gave it back, it smelled of you. It was dizzying. i wanted to rid it every trace of you...and i...
I wanted to wrap up in it and disappear, just so i wouldn't forget. maybe you wouldn't forget either.
fastforward. I found that old scarf again, buried deep in an old box. it no longer smells of you.
i might have felt something, but it's alright, because you don't even exist to me, although...

  • The scarf was blowing gently in the wind... almost like a mother rocking her baby to sleep. There was a peaceful quality about it. Nothing showed what would come next. The senseless violence in an unforgiving world.

The scarf was beautiful. Light blue with red stars on it. Meant to keep one warm, while drawing attention to the beauty that was wearing it.

it was blue with pink polka dots. and it was fuzzy. the best kind. not itchy, not too thick, not too thin. Just right. it kept away the cold. • Scarf is a word that most speakers of English probably associate with a cloth around the neck, but of course it can refer also to sluffed skin, and to something associated with rocks (and no, I'm not mixing it up with scarp or escarpment). Robert Bloch wrote a lousy thriller called "The Scarf" back in the 50s--few of his thriller novels were as interesting ultimately as *Psycho*, and some, like *The Couch* were really lousy.

  • The scarf blew slowly as the wind picked up. Tucked away inside the long gray jacket its color was missed by those outside of the comfy confines of the jacket. It was long, frilled on one end, tattered though still in good enough shape for outside attention. Making a scarf is fun because you produce something you can wear or give to a friend or relative as a gift. In fact making scarves in a variety of colors means you produce many gifts. Sometimes girls and women will wear a scarf as a belt. That dresses up their outfit and looks sharp and up-to-date.
