"Don't make me get into that thing with you."

    Ben gestured toward the Camaro.

"Come on, Jeannine. Windows down, speeding, it'll be fine."

    "I'm thinking no."

Ben sighed and threw up his hands. "How do you propose we get there, then?"

    [Les]

    [Jamie]

  • Humidity kept my mind stuffed like clogged pores. Sweat dripped down my face, trying to hide the fact that I knew nothing of the day to come.

    [laura]

  • The humid greenhouse air stiffled her breathing. Admittedly, she was gasping before she'd dashed inside. As unhappy as her marriage was, for both of them, she hadn't expected to classicly "walk-in" on her husband. OK, it wasn't a classic. He'd been on his knees mounting the boxspring & wearing her red cocktail dress. Laughter bubbled up. "I'm going to have to paint the walls as green as these palms to get that image out!"

    [julie-ann]

  • Humidity is terrible for several reasons. The most important one is that it is a brother to the word "moist" which is the most uncomfortable word in the English language. Humid climates are also terrible. You cant sweat even if you wanted to. But it gets better when it rains. Most things do.

    [Y]

  • Oh my gawd is it humid here in the Ozarks. It's at least 70% humidity today and the temp is like over 90. Thats degrees not celsius. I really enjoy life a lot more when the humidity is under 40 or 50%. I like the air to be slightly dry and smooth on my skin. It's easier to breath like that. Ok how much will it let me type here...

    [Spidr]

  • humid. sick. sticky. thick air. i couldn't breathe right. things were hazy, and it felt like i was swimming through the air. somehow i will have to get through this. i think it would be easier to have taken the bus.

  • It is terribly humid in north carolina. Dry heat is tolerable, but once we top centiniel farenheight, then our skin begins to stick to itself, and the proverbial feeling of hot and bothered begins to overtake our sense of balance.

    [jk]

  • none of you know anything about humidity until you move to maryland.

    [Amanda]

  • The heat is always out there but it's nothing to compare when there's moisture in the air. That's what really makes things unbearable. In the mountains, humidity is hardly ever an issue but here in the flat lands of the Midwest, it's part of our yearly routine. Every winter is dry just like every summer is horribly humid.

    [Stephanie]

  • this is a hot summer sticky day with the clouds hoovering just above the city sky line .
this weather will make it difficult to breath and impossible to stay cool. you should probably be naked with so much humidity or pray for rain. this is usually the end result of such a humid day.
the t shirt stick the pants always will smell. never mind how you smell, with the air being so humid like an amazon rain forest. it makes the trees grow very tall and huge. which would then supptor the large amount of life that lives in the forest. but it makes it hard to breath.

    [jenan]

  • The air was thick and I found it hard to breathe. My hair plucked out and rebounded with tiny curls and fly aways. Curse the humidity.

    [Hope]

  • the humid air today had left me positivley exasperated. I wish we would live in a more moderate temperature where the humidity wouldn't be this great. My back is all soaked with sweat from this humid air.

  • The weather outside gets hotter everyday and soon it will reverse its flow getting colder everyday and then snow...wonderful snow...I love snow and everything that comes with it

    [Jacob]

  • MMy place is so humid I can't even begin to tell. We leak buckets here int he humidity. When I first came here things were great, the sea the sand the sun and now all that it ends up is sweat.

It's funny though to think that humid is actually a mid hum, or a mid human

    [fc]

  • it must be hot. when it's hot, you sweat. then you have to take a shower. showers make you feel good and clean. when you're in the shower... it's nice. unless it's hot. it might be humid. when it's humid, my hair frizzes. i don't like when my hair frizzes. it gives me a bad hair day, and i hate bad hair days. frizzy hair is embarrassing. i don't like humidity. it's mean. but it's weather. so that's okay.

  • It's strange how the air can have so much water inside of it, like how the human body can have so much love. It slicks your skin, and you feel the warmth of things inside and out. You cannot escape it no matter where you are.

    [Damien]

  • storms get rid of a humid day

    [swarnavo]

  • It is a sticky day today. Beads of sweat gather on my brow and slowly create a tiny stream of salt water down the side of my face. I grasp the hem of my shirt and shake it to vent out some of the sweaty skin. Cool air rushes in and I feel slightly refreshed. I look up at the sun and breath in more water moistened air.

    [Leila Green]

  • In the midwest you get to know a new meaning of the word humid. The steamy sultry mist that rolls off the ground in the morning when it is 90 degrees and 100% humidity is to die for

    [Jessica]

  • Like lying close to the ground on a sunny morning.
Dew sticking in your hair as you try to claim the last fresh remnants of the night air.

The rain had washed out any hope of a hot summer; constant downpours made it feel like an endless spring. But today felt like the inside of a toaster, at least to Lisa.

    [Thea]

  • the weather outside here in Tel Aviv is extremely humid today. It's ridiciulous, it's hard to breathe when you go outside. in addition to that you're soaking wet after walking for only five minutes. I was going to get icecream earlier but I didn't because it was just to hot and humid outside.

    [Channa]

  • it's humid here, right now. Sticky and gross. A little like durban in summer. Or anywhere, asia. True story. Humidity is the inherent wetness in the pit of your arm after a long day. And no amount of mitchum can stop it.

  • Humidity is the bane of my existence. It is sticky and muggy and makes it hard to breathe. Life without humidity wouldn't allow us to have plants and other life forms but do we have to have humidity when it is 100 degrees out and just begging for rain? I am going to move to the desert. Where I can breathe again.

    [LGK]

  • "It's a little humid in here, isn't it?" inquired Tibbins. During our trip I had gifted Tibbins with a title, Lord of the Understatement. He has surely earned it.
"We are in a leaking submarine, up to our necks in water, yes, I would say it's a little humid" I reply as I reach over and go to push Tibbins head under. I may be going to hell, but I'm making sure he gets there first.

  • In the South, you have to be patient with the air, the way it settles on your shoulders like a flock of burning vultures that somehow wring you with their talons, as though you are a starched washcloth. And the breeze is perfect, and the waves are smooth. And yet you'd rather be at a bonfire at school, with people you don't know or like, which you hate. But yet the humidity, as miserable as it made me feel, just made her seem so much more beautiful. And now, I love her confused expression. It reminds me of that nasty humid day that changed the rest of my life. Why? Because I love her.

    [Tyler Babbitt]

  • Dreamy drifting, sultry, sweaty. Overwhelming heat and cloudless skies. Moisture running down backs and necks and arms. True summertime honesty.

    [Shay]

  • I don't need to think too much to write on this word. The weather outside the room I am sitting in now is exactly that - "humid". It is perhaps the worst kind of weather u hcan have. It's neither depressingly hot. It's just sticky!

    [ishan mahajan]

  • the air is thick.
    the moisture clings to me.
    my mind is swirling fog.
    i can't think.
i want to run from the heat.
everything around me is too familiar.
it reminds me of it all.
    of how everything went down.
and i'd rather not think about it any longer.

  • Humid and dreary in the sun of another summer's afternoon, the water cools the skin and reminds us that the sun isn't all we need to survive. Fire, water, earth, and air; all are needed and all are contained in each saturated summer breath.

  • If I had a choice, any choice, I wouldn't be here stuck in this god awful desert. Not even this icy concoction my Grandmother whipped up for me is helping. My hair is curling again and my clothes are sticking uncomfortably to my chest. Days like this make me wish for snow.

    [Marilyn]

  • humid weather can be the absolute worst. It fucks with your hair, it makes you sweat and overall it simply makes you miserable. Heat is bad enough, but the combination of heat and humidity can absolutely kill you...really. A humid day is the perfect day to be at the beach, especially a nice clean beach away from NYC. Boy, do I wish I was on a nice, pretty, clean beach with sparkling blue water and fish you can see swimming around your feet. It would be wonderful to go snorkeling right now....I know that I moved away from humid, but thinking of humid made me think of hot and thinking of being hot makes me wish I was the beach.

    [michelle]

  • humid made her think of the beach, of a hot day next to the water, on the white sand. she could handle the heat because she had an icecold drink in her hand, a large brimmed hat covering her hair and eyes, and she had lost herself in the newest novel to take her into that imaginary place. Humid didn't seem so bad when there were distractions around to keep her mind off of things...especially the heat

    [janel]

  • it was a humid day. the hot stickiness made the roof of her mouth stick like hot cement to a pair of feet. she tried to breathe, but felt the breathe sucked back into her lungs, the same breath, not fresh...but sticky, cause her to cough and try to gasp for more air. her skin prespired

    [Janel]

  • And it was humid. And it was empty. That's how you left me. That's how it felt when my heart shattered into irreparable pieces. I wish we just married and had kids, by now I would've hated you already.

  • It was humid outside she could barely stand it. The second she stepped off the plane, it hit her like a wet blanket that wasn't quite done in the dryer. It was difficult for her to breath, and her clothes felt unnecessarily heavy and cumbersome. She knew she wouldn't like Florida. She was much more accustomed to the temperate climate of the northeast.

  • humid is a dirty word. it's like lightningbugs and raindrops and dirty sex with your own father. how many times do I have to tell you, abigail, that it isn't right for us to be going around telling everyone about that? the moon is high, but not as high as my brother gets on friday nights when he goes out with his friends; sometimes he comes home, with them. i was once an immigrant boy, nowhere and everywhere at once--but not home. never home, again. I'll never go back there, because that is where lightningbugs and raindrops and dirty sex happen.

I remember walking outside of an air conditioned building, only to be blanketed with the thick layer of overwhelming moisture that coats immediately caused my hair to stick to my face. • I hated the weather. It was always hot, always sticky, always crowded full of people just pushing and shoving their way to the beaches. Why couldn't they get pools, or sprinklers? I don't know. Perhaps they enjoyed showing off their bodies in front of people not their significant others. It never made sense to me.

Now I know it was 'nostalgia' in reverse. My future self longing for the days I would spend here urging me to live them right going forward because there will be no looking back.

  • The humidity was the part he hated most. It reminded him of his childhood. Christ, he'd hated growing up. No amount of antiperspirant would prevent the dark liquid circle at my pits and I was miserable. • The humidity chokes us down here in Louisiana.
You get used to it, though.
As a child, it's a great excuse to go swimming and drink lemonade, then as a 13 year old girl it's the bane of your existence because your hair WILL NOT stay straight. Then as you get older, it's just an excuse to slow down. Everyone complains about it, but in the end it's the reason to slow down.
Isn't that all we want, really?
    To slow down?

  • Humidity messes up my curly locks. I spend hours straightening just to walk outside and POOF! Humidity is a jewish girls worse nightmare. I do like humid rain though, it feels nice, as long as I don't straighten my hair prior to going out in it...

    [Lucy Abrams]

  • This summer was the most humid I have ever felt. In my practical cookign class, I had to make a hot dish on the stove top. It was the worst day of my life. Until I went swimming during sunset in the ocean. Then it was the best. I love Summer.

    [Hannah]

  • Sometimes my girlfriend says she is humid. I know she means that she feels sweaty, but she grew up in Germany so the things she says don't exactly compare to how we would have grown up saying them. I do love her though in so many ways... this is just another one of them.

    [David]

  • nostalgia and ennui feel consumingly humid, a grey feeling that stems not from roots but from sunkin clouds that seek the crystalline peaks of snowy mountains. Humid is the cigarrette smoke sleeping in the ashtray. Humid is the paddle wheel of days. Humid is the long grey hair on my shower floor.

    [Jenna]

  • The humidity is killing me. I'm sweating like a man, and it feels a good fifteen degrees hotter than it really is. The swamp cooler doesn't do shit in weather like this. And these fans are driving me out of my goddamn mind.

    [Tomato]

  • Humidity is where I live. It's a little city called St. Louis and it knows humidity better than you do. Sticky mornings and nights? St. Louis has got them. It's pretty much the definition of miserable.

    [Tiffany]

  • I hate humidity. The humidity in Texas is insufferable. I just moved from Texas to Arizona. I'd take Texas humidity forever over living here for several months. It sucks, the people are dicks, and there is nothing to do. I just want to go back...

    [Jorge]

  • st. louis in the city summers, sticking to hands and backs, a pup nibbles on my toes and calves, and i brush her away as i brush droplets off my nose. more constellations are showing up on my face and my arms the longer i stay out - out of touch - out of living in community - communing with ghosts and fog and crickets at night.

    [Katie]

  • The humidity hits my hair, and immediately turns to curls. The curls go on and on such as the path of life. Humid, hot, sweat drips off my face. The harder i work the hotter it seems.

    [Kelsey]

  • It's humid outside. I'll start sweating like a bitch and be uncomfortable. Maybe I'll just stay inside. No weather can get to you when you're behind brick walls. You can watch it from a window, and be perfectly content. Which is why, I spent the whole day outside with a sweater and long pants.

    [Cheyenne]

  • It's humid here- the air sticks to you and clings, making you feel muggy. I remember, one year, my family and I visited Arizona- I loved how dry it was. It was hot, but not horrible- I enjoyed not feeling sticky.

    [Kristin]

  • wet soggy bad days I hate being out on hot humid days. The worst days to have a heavy backpack on or to be out hiking in heavy gear. Makes me feel languid.

    [Tim]

  • New England summers. I sit on the beach every day for work; I can't move, I can't think. It's as though I'm being smothered in a burning room by a hot blanket. Humidity is hell on earth.

    [Brigitte]

  • it was moist, but not in that dirty way, more in a wet way, no that still sounds dirty too, I guess its was just damp. there, that's better.

    [Rudy]

  • Sometimes it's humid out. I see sweaty old men wearing wife beaters that stick to their large, harry man-boobs and I want to vomit but don't. I don't understand the meaning of wife beaters. Do men put on wife beaters to specifically beat their wives? Can you only beat your wife if you are wearing a wife beater? This really has nothing to do with humidity. Woops.

    [Leigh]

  • hot like unearly clouds in the atmosphere just hotness spread sticky feelings summer in the east coast, D.C area jajaj uhhh HUMID...............................................................................

  • One time I was outside walking my dog and it was humid. I nearly collapsed and would have died had it not been for my magical water bottle that I usually keep with me but had forgotten. Luckily my water bottle is magical, obviously, and appeared next to me out of thin air. I took a swig of lukeish warm water and gulped. All was fine. I lived.

    [Amanda ]

  • Humid. That's exactly how summer should be. But we didn't have much of a summer this year. June got rained out. July passed in a blur of days, as well. The weather last month wasn't as humid as it could have been either. I blame global warming.

    [Abby]

  • humid is the water on the glass of a window on a rainy day. You press your forehead against this window and have it slide down slowly watching the clear marks where your forehead drags away all the condensation of the window. Wait! that's the wrong word isnt it? shit what do i do now?

    [Blaze]

    [Matthew]

  • It was a hot, humid day. Things moved, but they did so sticky, slow and sweet, like molasses. Flies buzzed busily, and I was convinced that I wouldn't need to drink anything, just open my mouth and let the moisture in.

    [chimwemwe]

  • Oh yes, it's humid in FL in the summertime. In the garage, it's overwhelming as I do the laundry. Even with the fan blowing on me, I'm melting. Go outside for a bit, I think, maybe it's better out there. But no, I was wrong, so I run back into the A/C with a sigh of relief

    The humidity making me sweat.

    I'm blind now,
    Can't find my way,
    Searching for a road,
    That I'll never see again.

    Take my hand,
    Lead me through,
    Help me now,

    uncomfortable, anxious humid air.

    [Liz]

  • I hate humidity. I can deal with it when its hot outside, but the higher the humidity, the more uncomfortable I am. I could never live somewhere where the humidity was frequently high. I'd probably melt or something. When I went to Florida, it was just terrible..it was very humid everyday. I sorta like living in Buffalo.

    [Nick]

  • God, what a perfect word on an early August day. The heavy heat of the southeast meets me at the door of the car, the house, and the hotel. No matter where i am the sun has his partner, humidity, helping this month.

    [norm]

  • I'm not sure what humidity is. My American friends talk about it when talking about the weather but I still don't know what it is. I should ask one of them. I think it's in the air. My finger hurts. I was biting the skin off ealier. Ow.

    [Darragh Mc Hugh]

  • humid means there is a lot of water density in the air. I personally don't like it when it is humid. Wait , why am I doing this? THis is ridiculous. I don't even care about the word humid. Does that bar at the top mean I'm running out of time? Ding? What?

    [Shmuch]

  • Hot, muggy. Uncomfortable. Humid is moist and reminds me of August. My birthday is in August. I don't like the humid. Definitely leaves opportunity for heat stroke. Most important to stay hydrated in the humidity. Keep water and a cool rag on hand.

    [Brandon L.]

  • the humidity made her body ache for something only his body could give her.

    [Woody]

  • humidity is definitely something i experience when i'm nervous i'm as damp as a sponge when i think of your eyes. sometimes when i check my phone and i see i have a message for you, it's as though my entire heart is damp and i'm breathing it trying to fuel my system. but i can't breath so well when my heart goes humid thinking of you. it is a musty mystery. how you permeate the bellows of my system.

    [jess lafrank]

  • Humid is how wet the air is around somewhere. Referred to as the humidity. If the humidity is high, there's a lot of water vapour in the air around you, and if it's low, there is a low amount of water vapour in the air. It also can be used to reference other things, such as I cannot remember

    [Danny]

  • the air is quiet and still and lies heavy on your skin; it wraps around you like damp wool. each breath you draw is solid and wet and sticks to your tongue and throat. you flinch from the pressing, insidious heat but it follow you wherever you go. it almost feels liking being underwater.

    [eli]

  • In Louisiana, this is the only classification of weather. It is so humid outside, your underwear might mildew instantaneously. We often wonder why we never have "that dry heat". It's because monsters like Hurricanes Rita, Gustav and Katrina have to be fed before they can wreak any havoc.

    [Erica]

  • i dont know what humid is maybe it is a funny joke that i dont know

  • Hot and sticky.. I usually prefer this weather to the cold Wisconsin winter air that surrounds and invades my warm soul.

  • It's so hot out. I feel like I'm melting, turning into a sticky sweet mess on the sidewalk. I hope someone eats me for B reakfast. That's be better than what's happening now. No pbreakfast for grace. No breakfast. Even though it's so important. It just makes me sick. And sick is bad. Bad things happen to sick people and good people and bad people and sad people and happy people because like is fair and unfair like that.

    [Grace]

  • It was a humid day in Tennessee, which is not an ordinary thing. This day in particular was special. it was the first day of spring, and I was just given my dream job. Not normally, a persons dream job isn't in Tennessee, but when you grow up being a fan of the Volunteers being named the assistant coach at the age of 25 is a dream.

    [Ciara]

  • The air was warm and the Humidity was sky-high. It felt like I was going to burn up, but sadly I didn`t. My lungs were filling with air, and my mind preparing to start my science project on gasses, my choice: water vapour in the air.

    [Fredrik]

  • I was born in a very humid place. St.Louis Missouri. My life began there, but i doubt that's where it will end. My father has made my family move twice from that place I called home. First to Colorado Springs where I lived for 11 years and made friends for life. Yet, just a year ago he uprooted my family again and moved us. I have become what I was afraid of. I hurt myself physically to understand the feelings stirring around inside me. I wish I could go back to that home in humid St. Louis. I wish I could go back and feel what I used to feel. That people would just accept that "this me" is the "new me". The "me" that will follow me, like a shadow of the past. Of what I wish could come again, but know that it will not. The old "me" is buried in St. Louis and there shall stay for all eternity.

  • It always feels humid at the yogurt place I work at. Which is funny because the other job I work at is always too cold. It contrasts well a professional working enviroment, here the travel company, and some random new yogurt place run by a frugal Vienamese family.

    [Serena]

  • It's where i live, much hotter than your average hot. Humid heat is a pressure bearing down on me. It keeps me from breathing.

  • When it's humid my balls sweat. When my balls sweat I pick my balls. When I pick my balls the ladies swoon and take off their clothes. When I take my clothes off, they see my sweaty, hairy, balls and pass out in ecstasy. I swear at the insufferable cunts for being such pussies and put my clothes back on. I go home and jack off in the AC where the humidity can't get me.

    [Chris]

  • I couldn't even smoke a damn cigarette. I'd been on that plane for 8 fucking hours, and stepping off into the suffocatingly close humid Toronto summer, the last thing I wanted was the only thing I wanted for the past 8 fucking hours.

    [beth]

  • Sitting in a room, waiting for the walls to close in. This humid air hanging all around, looking for cracks to escape. Let it out. The paint peeling in the heat. The wood warped from the flood.

    [ducksoup]

  • it has been humid all day. I feels like someone's forcing me to sweat. I know it's not hot. It's just excruciatingly wet. A paradox, yes, but made irrelevant by the reality of my discomfort. It is in this setting that I find myself after the longest night of the summer. Maybe someday I'll remember it.

    [James Fisher]

  • His shirt stuck to his sweating back in the thick, sticky, humid air. He hated this place; hated the heat, the constant rotting smell, the unbearable moisture that permeated every surface and substance.

    [Chuck Meacham]

"Welcome to Florida," came her only reply.

    [Alyssa Diaz]

  • One thing I will say about living in the desert: it is not humid. Hot? Yes, Oh heavens yes. But dry. It is not unusual for it to be 105 degrees but at least we do not suffer with the drip inducing, heat stroke making humidity that those to the south and east of us do.

    [kathy]

  • Wet and warm; polar opposites. How ironic.

Everything about everyone is ironic. We are hypocrites; destined to go against what he say and do. Our personalities are humid, drowning and boiling hot.

  • It's so humid in Hawaii. When you walk outside, the water in the air just sticks to your skin, coating it in a fine layer of sweat. The same thing happened in Japan, 2 summers ago. • He sat on the porch, slowly rocking back and forth. He, as any old-timer sitting on a porch, commented to his friend that a storm must be coming up, his knee was acting up. His friend disagreed and said that it was a) because it was humid out and b) because he had watched the weather channel that morning.

    [Jackie]

  • My Boyfriend, hes the best thing that's happened to me, i love him so much.

  • It was a humid day with too much rain. Her hair stuck to her neck uncomfortably and her eyes flitted around, catching flecks of the fog in her line of sight. His hand felt too hot against the small of her back, and she felt like pushing away, but didn't. He was her everything at once, her all. She loved him as herself and as the fog.

    [Sabrina]

  • the way the heat rose made me feel dry and uncomfortable. beads of sweat came upon the nape of my neck. It was humid and and hot, and when i looked behind me to see that the sun was not anywhere to be seen, i was dumbfounded. that was when i heard the voice of a stranger say, "are you okay?" when i looked to find the body of this voice i was suddenly looking at the sexiest man i had ever seen in my life.

    [dara]

  • The feeling in the air when it's not really the heat that's bothering you. You know that if you were somewhere else and it was just as hot it wouldn't be too bad, but the weather right now feels terrible. All of the annoying humidity in the air.

    [Lucas]

  • humid. a bit of humid in my area would be forest saving, skin plumping, and mmm.. something else. heavy humid in the form of heavy rain could save lives, homes, and all those beautiful tress next on the list of the fires.

Analyses would later show this to be the sap from a faraway tree but all that everyone was really concerned about with is that the stain was a perfect portrait of Elvis.

    [Nathalie (spacedlaw)]

  • She could never stand the humid weather. It made her hair so unmangable and her clothes always seemed to fit just wrong on her. Everything was so sticky in the weather. She couldn't help but wish she had remained inside, away from the gross-ness that was the weather. Yet she was outside now, watching her little brother throw himself in the swing with yells of glee.

    [Danny]

  • The humidity is what gets to you. It's not the fact that you're on an alien planet, billions of miles away from earth. It's not the fact that you're never going to make it home. It's the fact that you have to sweat it out while you wait for it to end.

    [MM]

    [Ian]

  • florida is always humid as hell. seriously it just makes the summers that much more unbearable. I still love Florida though because it is such an awesome place with cool people, except all those douchebags by the beaches with Armani wifebeaters and spray tans. Actually, Florida is pretty meh. Whatever I'm stuck here so whatever.

    [Nick C]

  • humid is how it should be right now! well, I know we hate it here in England if it ever gets too hot, but seriously it's summer right now and I'm stuck inside looking out at the mundane weather. I want weather where I can blame the heat on my actions, no regrets that way. :)

  • There's no way I'm going through this again. I don't care what the cure is. This has become too hard. Terminal cancer and cancer and cancer. It's everywhere all of a sudden and everything's laced with the idea of impending death. Doom, like a children's cartoon, only I'm not laughing.

I was watching the movie, "The Secret", the other day and was wondering why they took Esther Hicks (The Teachings of Abraham/Abraham-hicks) out. I really liked them.
An update for those of you writing children's books, there are a growing number of options on the web. Check them out.
Does anyone know the best way to go about writing a novel? Where do you start? How do you develop the characters?
Again, if you're reading this: sorry. There is a purpose—we swear.
