Hi Abdelkarim, your standard of English isn’t bad at all, but there’s always room for improvement isn’t there?!

I will gladly have a read of your writing and offer any corrections or other suggestions. If you like you can make a topic here just for you to do this.

The best way to improve I think is just to read, write. listen to and speak the language as much as you can. Read anything, it doesn’t matter what it is. Whether it’s a magazine or newspaper or the back of a tin of beans, it’s all practice. Maybe try reading aloud too, it doesn’t necessarily have to be to anyone. Just reading aloud in your room is good practice for getting a grasp of grammatical rules and pronunciation.

hey im sorry, i do have a question but it’s not about writing.
how do you add someone as a friend or follow someone? I’ve been trying to look for “the button” but i can’t seem to find it anywhere.

Hi Kat, I find the site a bit awkward when it comes to stuff like this too. The way I tend to do it is put the member’s name in the box over there >>>. Make sure you’ve chosen ‘members’ from the dropdown box options and click search. A button comes up on the results page that allows you to friend or follow. Hope that works for you. :)

I don’t understand why it says I haven’t posted anything yet. Am I doing something wrong? The directions seem pretty straightforward. Click, type, click. Lolol. Also, is there anyway to message people? What’s the easiest way to meet people on here?

President, where are you looking and where/what are you posting?

According to your profile page you have posted in the welcome thread and this thread. Have you posted other things somewhere else too?

You can message people by clicking on their name which will take you to their profile. On the right hand side of that page there is a button that says ‘send private message’.

The best way to meet people is probably to add comments on their posts showing on their profile. Or you can directly message people, follow and/or friend. You can post in groups too, but this group is probably the best bet as a lot of them are a bit quiet. Also in the same place as the private message button is another button that you can use to mention a user in a post. Using that button should send a message to let them know you’ve mentioned them.

I click the first link that sends me to a word and then I thought I was pressing a link to post it at the end. I’m probably just reading things wrong or something honestly lolol. I’m not worried about the little silly things I’ve tried to post, I’m just afraid to keep trying to post things if I’m not doing it right. Do I have to copy and paste it later? I understand the forum part though. And thanks I get the friend part too, I was just being lazy. Thanks!

Hmm. Try following this…

- Make sure you’re signed in then click the word ‘write’ underneath the oneword logo near the top right of this page. (It’s between the words ‘read’ and ‘donate’). That will take you to the day’s word.

- Write your post and then click the black button near the bottom of the page which will appear when the time is up. That will take you to a page with other people’s posts on the same word. Your post should be at the bottom.

- On that same page, hover over ‘my account’ on the top right, inside the grey bar. In the menu that appears, click ‘activity’. Your post should then be at the top of the new page, underneath the empty box that asks ‘what’s new President Proudhon?’ Is it there?
