This is the obligatory introductions thread!

After joining this group please post here first with as much or as little about yourself as you wish. This way hopefully we will be able to get to know each other.

Once you’ve posted here, feel free to use the group however you like. (Including welcoming newcomers in this thread, perhaps. ;)

As far as group rules go, there’s only 1… be respectful and be sure to write about stuff.

    Maybe that’s 2 rules. >_<

    ALSO PLEASE NOTE…
Please create a new thread for pieces of writing that you would like members to comment on, that is; one thread/topic per member. This way we can keep all our work together in one place and everyone will be able to see when you have posted something new. Outside of that, feel free to create new threads/topics about whatever you choose.

I guess I’ll start, seeing as it’s just me and the chickens.

I’m rhyme79, I created this group because I was disappointed that I was finding it hard to interact with any folks around here.

I’ve been writing ever since I learned to do it and I’ve always loved it. I usually write as a means of self-expression and find it helpful in getting to know myself. I’m English and enjoy all sorts of writing, from academic essays to poems to fiction and internet forum posts.

I’ve had a couple of poems published but beyond that, writing has only been a hobby for me, although I’m considering taking it a step further in the future.

So, that’s me! Who are you?

A recently retired member of the 99% of US citizens who get their imagination quota from regular, normal and universally directed sources. I have an odd writing stimulator; sitting down at a keyboard and letting my fingers do the talking for my brain. Having had 372 days of not having to respond to the morning bell I am just beginning to understand that tool and hope to be able to continue on developing it and would not mind hearing from and sharing with others who want to and can handle the process. Read my other posts which have been frequent by the look of the last active time line of most groups on this site. Hope to hear something, good, bad or indifferent.

Also and finally, it appears that I responded to some of your posts in other groups and if as I asked earlier that the bracketed …’s don’t mean the author was looking for someone to add onto their scenario I do apologize for doing so. If that symbol means the author was looking for feedback on the style, content and creativity of their post, I do think yours have been some of the better, interesting and thought starters on the site.

Hi Dingus, good to see you around here. Thanks for becoming the first ‘proper’ member of this group! Hooray! :)
I know what you mean by just letting your fingers go with it, sometimes trying too hard stifles all creativity and then it’s hard to write anything at all.

The bracketed symbol is a constant source of consternation to me… I assume it is just an ellipsis within square brackets and indicates that the post is longer than the preview shows. I worked this out from my own posts as I KNOW that there’s more to the post. However there doesn’t seem to be anywhere to click that takes you straight to the particular post in question in order to read what remains of it. It’s possible to click on the post’s heading and then maybe find it among the other posts in the same topic. Or alternatively to click the member’s name and search for it among their posts. It’s quite an annoying oversight in my opinion, unless of course there is something I’ve not spotted. If you work it out, please let me know! >_<

Thanks for your kind words Dingus, :) I've been enjoying some of your posts too, especially the mention of a mute cruise of which I would love to hear more! ;)

Hello, I apologise as I did not see this post first and have as a result not posted on here first. Please excuse my oblivious self. I like to be known as 5arahZ0ey or Sarah when on writing websites. Wattpad is the site I use most frequently, although I suspect that now I have found this site it will be a fierce contender for my time, imagination and words!
I write mostly poetry, prose or a mixture of the two, however I am starting to try and write more short stories now and work on the various novel drafts and ideas scattered around my notebooks and laptop…
Basically, I’m a very busy writer who has a few poems and a couple of short stories published.
Thank you for creating this group – it’s a good idea.

Hi Sarah, thanks for joining. I hadn’t heard of Wattpad, but I’ve just spent at least 30 mins browsing the site. I think it might become one of my regular haunts!

I’ve just been poking around your oneword posts, and you seem to add a beautifully rhythmic quality to the things you write.

Feel free to create threads about anything writing/reading/life related.

Further to the brief discussion above about the [...] symbol; I’ve finally twigged that clicking on the pale part along the top of the box, just under where it says how old the post is, takes you to the post in full. I don’t know why I didn’t spot that before! O.o Is there something there that isn’t showing up on my screen due to my contrast settings? Anyway, my consternation has now lessened, thankfully.

“twigged”? Another version of tweet or your word for branching out with your clicking and see what pops up?

Hello, i am Sasquatch. Iv’e recently decided to start writing. I realize im not as good as most but i do hope to improve. The sudden decision stems from me trying various ways to create. I love music, art, and literature. I have tried all sorts of things to express my creativity, but writing seems have the most freedom when it comes to expression and imagination. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

I’m trishula. I’ve been writing on and off throughout my entire life, but lately they’ve become more of journal entries than anything worthwhile. I have always wanted to write a novel, but that takes a lot of time and patience… and LOTS of constructive criticism.

I found this site on stumbleupon and really liked it, so I guess I’ll be sticking around for a while.

  • Profile picture of rhyme79 rhyme79 said 9 months, 3 weeks ago ago: #

More people! Hooray! Thanks for joining sasquatch and tricia, and welcome to the group. :) Feel free to start new topics for discussion. I’m sure we can all share our wisdom and experiences to help each other.

Sasquatch is such a lovely word isn’t it? It just feels nice in your mouth, I think it does anyway! O_o

@Dingus: ‘twigged’ means caught on or realised. But I quite like your definition too. :)

Hey i’m grazinglory. I pretty much ran in to this site with a stroke of luck. I typed in oneword on google out of curiousity and this came up! I’ve written poems and short stories on occasion and I’ve always respected it as a medium for art. Its exhilarating and I’m hoping to develop my faculty as well as learn and build a prettier vocabulary. Its all a process though so we’ll see.

  • Profile picture of rhyme79 rhyme79 said 9 months, 2 weeks ago ago: #

Hi grazinglory, welcome to oneword and thanks for joining this group. Feel free to jump in and post. :)
Maybe have a go at writing the next installment of our ‘never-ending story’ which you can find here >> http://oneword.com/groups/active-users-of-oneword/forum/topic/the-neverending-story/

Sharing your writing, reading and commenting on others’ work will get you nicely settled in around here. I hope you have fun and see you around!

    Hallo, all!
I’m emphadiate, or Hadia, if you prefer. :)

I actually found oneword.com quite a while a go, joined a while after and them shamefully proceeded to neglect the sight. However, now, I fully intend to contribute my fair share!
I love this sight as an inspirational boost and a driving force for overcoming the hurdle that is the dreaded writer’s block! I hope you’ll see me around often! :D

  • Profile picture of rhyme79 rhyme79 said 9 months, 2 weeks ago ago: #

Hi Hadia, welcome to this wondrous, wordy world of ours. :) I hope you manage to keep your blocks at bay, and write away!
