    A casting call for petite blonds with 0% body fat. Long hair, preferably curly. Your face has to be perfect, too. I hope you’ve been practicing your eyeliner. It’s too bad that guys don’t realize that the girls they’re really looking for are the ones who don’t know how to accessorize or apply eyeshadow.

    Sometimes inspiration is hard to come by. Other times you feel it so strongly that it’s all you can do to keep it from pouring out of your every orifice. Right now isn’t one of those times.

    Up on the shoulder where we parked the car. Headlights rushing past in a series of bright bursts. We sat in silence for the majority of the time until you looked at me and put the car in drive. We didn’t talk for the rest of the drive home.

    The tattoos that decorate her body used to be considered taboo. Now she’s 85 years old and respected by kids half her age. She sees her body as a canvas that is decorated with the memories of her life. She doesn’t see any mistakes.

    The sun sank slowly below the horizon, leaving a soft auburn glow in the sky. The warm color reflected off of her hazel eyes, wet from staring into the bright star. She was my brightest star.

    It went too deep this time. The blood is flowing uncontrollably and the rush of adrenaline that I felt just moments before has disappeared. Now, fear is slowly creeping into my bones. I don’t want to die, I don’t want to die.

    I’m sitting on the plane that will take me to my new home. I’m putting miles and miles of air between me and my hometown, and it feels like the biggest weight has been lifted from my shoulders.

    Filling buckets with dirt and water and bits of grass. Collecting berries and creating potions with them. As children our minds are so versatile, but then we grow up and become closed off and weak. We become unimaginative.
