    Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day?
    William Shakespeare

    Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day?
    Thou art more lovely and more temperate:
    Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,
    And summer’s lease hath all too short a date:
    Sometimes too hot the eye of heaven shines,
    And often is his gold complexion dimm’d;
    And every fair from fair…[Read more]

    Where You Go When She Sleeps
    T.R. Hummer
    What is it when a woman sleeps, her head bright
    In your lap, in your hands, her breath easy now as if it had
    never been
    Anything else, and you know she is dreaming, her eyelids
    Jerk, but she is not troubled, it is a dream
    That does not include you, but you are not troubled either,
    It is too good to hold her…[Read more]

    Weather Report

    Today’s rain settles
    nowhere, but runs in streams
    washing the city.

    the unfinished painting lay on the table
    like the unfinished lunch, work
    unfinished book of love
    to be like that was a curse
    but that was what was the difference
    the charm of unknown always heeded above the desire to complete
    like nature’s unfinished beauty
    like the unmet rivers
    like the urge to believe that’s how it works
    People insisted that…[Read more]

    You are the trip I did not take;
    You are the pearls I could not buy;
    You are my blue Italian lake;
    You are my piece of foreign sky.

    You are my Honolulu moon;
    You are the book I did not write;
    You are my heart’s unuttered tune;
    You are a candle in my night.

    You are the flower beneath the snow,
    In my dark sky a bit of blue,
    Answering…[Read more]

    i closed my eyes only to see that the only thing i could think about was everything i’d beed recently thinking about. it would be so lovely to have something NEW. something that really throws you off the edge and then catches you, swoops you right up midair!! How marvelous it would be to be so very high up in perhaps a ballon with you. I can’t…[Read more]

    Time was eroding her courage and she had to decide.
    She was going to stand up and she was going to run away.
    Life here was dull and very boring and she would not stay here
    longer than she had to. So I walked back to the car. Of my
    priorities, this was not quite on the bottom but it was close enough.
    To me, some how it felt, like mere rain, I was…[Read more]

    whilst i waited i lied to myself,
    for you wouldn’t return from the eternal journey.
    I sat by the window to hear the old song of the birds but the sweet melody
    seemed like the song of despair,
    of long gone days,
    of long forgotten tragedy
    whilst i waited for the death
    i lied to myself
    that you left me, for you are the part of me

    i waited at the door
    You emerged with your eyes puffy
    you looked in my direction
    our eyes locked for the zenith of a second
    That told me the truth of our entangled truth
    You were never mine.
    There was no beauty just gist for new smell
    I was hurt but smiled to myself
    for denying you the pleasure to ruin me!

    i dare you to dream, to be the dream of your heart and soul
    i dare you to open doors slammed shut by time and hurt and cold
    i dare you to be

    it’s not in the woods that you are set free
    not in the soaring skies or in the vast and endless oceans
    it’s in the nowhere that your dreams turn into everywhere
    there you become what you are meant to

    i dare…[Read more]

    DAYBREAK ONE – CITY
    The light of day
    Gently
    Pressing the night
    Back into its box
    Growing warmth
    Dissolving the fragile
    Mist of the morning
    Away
    Colours
    Lightening
    Defining the shapes
    Of nature
    And man
    My world
    Beginning to breathe
    Taking its first soft breath
    Of morning air
    The artificial light
    Of man
    Shamefacedly retreating
    As…[Read more]

    I’m currently doing an assignment on poetry and all of the texts I can choose from are very depressing. So, I wrote this:

    On the whole I found this poetry uninviting,
    As if poets spend their saddest moments writing.

    Their joys are repressed,
    and sadness addressed.

    I found no love or peace
    or happier things,
    Just cruelty and death
    and the pain…[Read more]

    The life I have has just three parts
    Making up the whole of me
    Only two are deeply intertwined
    The third is yet to be

    The window – that is all my past
    I can still look back and see
    But not go back even one small step
    And change what once was me

    The room – that’s where I am now
    It’s all I do and say
    It’s where I have a chance to learn
    Grow…[Read more]
