The actual truth of the matter was a whole lot less complicated.

There was nothing that would stop her. Nothing. Nothing could stop her except-
“He knows.”
She pulled up short, shutting her eyes tightly, “no.”
She felt a tug on her shoulders as Mira forced her to face her.
“Jali, he does and there’s,” Mira faltered her eyes briming with tears, “there is nothing we can do.”
The full weight of the words settled in and Jali’s shoulders dropped.
“Everything?” Jali asked.
Mira nodded and the last flicker of hope extinguished. -

He disregarded her grimy appearance, feeling his gaze drawn to her eyes. They were a brilliant shade of green, like the first leaves of spring. A light sparkled in them, quick and mischievous.

Alix picked up her depressingly light suitcase, the florescent lights of the subway station hummed in the absence of the usual commotion. She reached into her pocket and brought out a handful of change. This was it, there was no going back now.

The streets were packed, everyone hurrying to their next destination. Nobody blinking an eye as they dodged a single still figure standing in the middle of the side walk. The lone figure watched the commotion with sad eyes. What else haven’t they noticed?

It’s often used as a comparing-word.
For instance, if someone were more trail than I, I could say they were “trailer” than I am. It was originally derived from the word “aile” (as in an ‘aile’ in the supermarket), which in turn was derived from the context, “‘aile’ go to the supermarket”. I love philology.

An intersection – a crossroads of life. Life has a tendency of putting you at an intersection of major decisions. Such lines only cross once in life – you pick a direction, and you are forever going in another direction, and the two lines are never to touch again. You can look over at where [...]

Feh.
Actually, “Fe” is more accurate… But “Feh” is more ironic.

Foreign things. Interesting, because the amount of worldliness they afford you is often directly and inversely proportionate to the amount of risk you have to take to expose yourself to them. Same goes for ideas, places, AND people.

Inventor’s Log: Day 16
Still no sign of sentience, I’m beginning to suspect that this machine is as lifeless as the professor says it will be. Wait — what’s this? He’s sending Morse code through his LEDs! What does it say — “E….A…….. Oh crap. He found out. - Load More
