I’m in shape!
(My shape just happens to be round.)
Someone told me that was the meaning of life. That the natural state of man was inherently curious–we were meant to wander and wonder, to explore the world and to want to learn as much as we can.
So why am I in Spanish class, bored and on the Internet?
You used to love my hair. That’s what you said, anyway–it was one of my best features, you said, and then you’d run your fingers through the strands like you’d never seen anything like them before–and when you accidentally got tangled in a clump, your face looked so innocently apologetic. Like you were worried you’d [...]
so there’s this park, right, and in this park there’s a bench (sheltered by some trees, but the trees aren’t really important to this story) and there’s a boy who comes every weekend (saturday afternoons, always exactly at 4) and sits there and i take a walk every weekend (saturday afternoons, always around 4) and [...]
screwdriver, hammer, bolt, wrench–
i wrench myself away
because i don’t (can’t) want this anymore
it’s not enough, you (or maybe it’s me or we) are not enough
the last bolt is tightened

I have actually finished almost everything I wanted to accomplish today!
I’m headed for the moon, baby.

Or maybe it’s a crossword puzzle, or sudoku, or a jumble, and you even did it in pen.
if only life was as simple as it is on paper.
like a coat
like a mother’s hug
and it burns, it burns
(said elphaba, the green–wicked? maybe that, too–witch of the west)
like salt in a cut
but furnaces are supposed to be warm, aren’t they?
warm, warm, warm
what i would give to be warm right now
i hate winter.
i got sidetracked by the color in your eyes
looks like something wonderful
the color of amazing
i got sidetracked by youtube and facebook and life
sidetracked by life? at least, that’s my excuse.
distraction, deflection, disconnection.
reflect, refract, sidetracked on the way.
it reminds me of the philippines–of home.
all different kinds (pineapple and mango and kalamansi), tasty and wonderful and delicious, and it would dribble down our chins as we laughed at each other (that’s what our family was always like) in the humid heat, and i remember it all.
