Here under the bedcovers, furry beast that I am, snuggled up in a ball, there is a certain cuteness~ like a cheeky chipmunk nestled in its burrow. The fact that I am a 260lb hitman does not easily segue into this tale, unless you consider the vast unseen underground, where predators lurk beyond the cute facade. Sweet dreams!!

Our perception only ever really takes in the present~ the stimulus of our immediate surroundings… a mumbling old man may once have been a skilled circus performer, a pioneering brain surgeon or an inventor of something that is now considered essential to daily life, but often as not, his ramblings will be taken with a pinch of salt as the immediate truth of what stands before you eclipses the faded reality of his heyday.

Never mind about the children, they were already damaged~ abused before they came here… calling it a care home was more along the lines of ‘being taken care of’… now they could serve their country, by being photographed in compromising positions with distinguished gentlemen, giving the political leverage necessary to ensure the wheels of the weapons industry could keep turning a profit.

If only this were fiction, not British history… Elm Guest House

So many times I’d been there to help out, waking the household up for school, making breakfast and generally ensuring the welfare of the loved was adequately tended~ turned out that my kindness was but a weakness and no matter how hard I tried, it was never enough. Perhaps Thatcher was right after all, the rusty hag.

  • Life as a Harlem Hustler required a few modifications to get the most out of your auto~ a makeshift sling, screwed haphazardly into the plastic of the dashboard made an ideal holster for ole faithful~ the baseball bat that had hit more than home runs.

Ancient stones, thrashing waters and grinding gears all led to this, but the real poetry came when the flour bomb erupted on the side of his head.

  • jivehoneyjive commented on the post, vines 1 month, 2 weeks ago

Tucked away, not many folk knew of this relic that was essential to the cities growth~ huge walls, still towering despite their decay, though mostly eclipsed by greedy vines, vying for status by climbing on the shoulders of another’s greatness, whilst slowly sucking the minerals out of the mortar which held this ancient reservoir together.

In the mirror, it looked like a bagel, crammed with cream cheese~ perhaps not as appetizing though.

  • All that we are, everything we know, past, present and future is all fabricated~ we know not by who or how, but everything is manufactured in some shape or form, from the zygotic dawn of life, to the towering edifices of our cities and the probes we send into the cosmos, searching for further evidence of our creator.

Advertising revenue, that’s what counted here~ though many sales are secured by promotion of a positive lifestyle; sunshine, beach balls, rollerblades, gleaming teeth, glowing skin, too much comfort led to stagnation; the insecurities that fuelled the purchasing masses were better manipulated through fear, plague, famine, pestilence~ Jesus is the biggest brand ever in consumer culture~ sacrifice is virtue.

  • jivehoneyjive commented on the post, bronze 1 month, 3 weeks ago

The podium today was mighty relaxed… the medals being handed out where sent from the heavens, and hung wherever there was exposed skin~ where traditionally, bronze was the lowliest of achievements, here the roles were reversed and the darkest hue was testament to a winning combination of vitamin D and decadent laziness.

  • jivehoneyjive commented on the post, tornado 1 month, 3 weeks ago

It was raining outside, but warm… the kind of weather that can swing a party from so-so to great, as long as you brought a swimming costume~ that’s all by the by though~ the rain was (and indeed parties) were not to Roz’s liking, so she set about attacking the house with a vacumn cleaner. Little did she know the havoc she was wreaking on the poor dust mites~ with their accelerated life cycles and diminutive bodies, the greedy nozzle was the equivalent of a 100 year storm, a tornado that on a human scale would swallow a cathedral.

  • Waiting, waiting, waiting, nothing, no sign of life, none of the usual machine gun popping and warm smells… life can be so empty, like a pan full of kernels that just won’t pop and choose to burn instead… calamity has its place, but the kitchen ain’t it.

  • Plips and plops… these sounds evoke scenes of scientists and oscilloscopes with chaotic waveforms~ no regularity or harmony, but still a certain ambience. Man had only discovered them in the 20th century and was all too keen to find their source, listening intently for signs of life deep within the cosmos, to satiate curiousity of the universes mysteries and end the loneliness inherent to a race with too much intelligence.

It had been a long day and it was beginning to take its toll~ the peaty soil was saturated by the constant lashing rain and Brians fingers had lost all feeling… still he forged on, as the task in hand was too huge to procrastinate on.

As the body flopped into the watery pit, Brians temper flared once more as a trickle entered his boots.

Years of pressure, a slow anticipation mounting over millenia, constriction choosing the fate of it’s prisoners… as the sirens sounded and the plunger was pressed, all these tensions were blasted away and daylight shone on those held captive.

  • The room was filled to the brim with silence~ the crowd had so much potential for laughter, chatter, or as an angry mob, but everyone was transfixed, a mixture of anticipation and awe suspending them in a state of calm, focused only on outside stimulus as it lay before them.

Many years later, those present at the performance would still recall it with startling clarity, such was the magnitude of the awe at what had been conjured that day, almost seared into the memory, like a branded cow, scarred for evermore.

  • jivehoneyjive commented on the post, weathered 3 months ago

Though his face was youthful and radiant, his soul was intensely weathered~ you never quite knew how he held it together, like a shard of rock, clinging stubbornly to the home it had known for millennia, poised like a fledgling nervous of it’s first flight.

One more winter and he might crack, or he might cling on as the generations passed.
