Sleep dragging at her eyelids, her pencils still, her eyes shut to words and questions she can’t begin to comprehend. She’s so tired.
Twice she jolts awake as if falling, alarm bells ringing. She taps her foot, if her jump didn’t indicate she was asleep, she’ll indicate she’s still not. Never was. Move along.
She sighs, gives up. Closing her eyes briefly, she sees herself past the time wizard, beyond that yawning hole in the ground, in complete darkness, atop a spiraling precipice. Looking down.
She turns the paper in. View
