I set sail across the Pacific many months ago. It was a spontaneous decision, something I thought of after I left my parents’ house in a huff after a heated argument. I never look back. Through the turmoil my crew and I have faced along this ocean, we have discovered things that no man could have ever dreamed of.

As she braided her sister’s hair, she admired the long brown waves that fell past her sister’s shoulder blades. She always wanted hair that long. She touched her sister’s hair gingerly, tears pooling to her eyes as she reached up and touched her own hairless head.
“Is everything okay?” her sister asked. She nodded and wiped her tears away, picking up the ends of her sister’s hair to continue braiding.
“Yeah. I’m okay.”
