I will never be satisfied with myself.
I cannot play a sport.
I have no skill in any useful activity.
My few talents disappoint many.
Reading doesn’t earn you medals.
Sewing is a seemingly ancient skill.
Writing doesn’t gain you admiring friends.
These things don’t put food on the table
Or clothes on our backs
Or money in our dusty, underused wallets.
Art only gets the lucky far,
Who am I to think I will go far?
I yearn only to prove myself to others.
Perhaps they’ll never be satisfied.
I Couldn’t Help it.
All the Fowl Words in the World Were Climbing Up My Throat
Yearning to Be Released.
But I Kept Those Words Down
Opened My Mouth
And Spat on His Shoe.
I Watched His Face Turn […]
If You’d Actually Read My Poems, You’d Notice They’re Not All Sad. The Point of This Website is to Write Things You Can’t Tell Anyone Else, Because You Need Somebody to Know. I Don’t Need a Critic, So If You Don’t Have to Like it. I’m Just Speaking My Mind.
It Was the Sound of Mum Closing the Creaky Kitchen Cabinet That Woke Me.
As Usual, I Was Tangled in Blankets
Having Thrashed Around in My Sleep.
My Arms Were Extended
As Though Reaching For Something,
I Peeked Through the Curtain
And Saw the Audience.
My Stomach Seemed to Drop
At the Amount of People That Were There,
But My Heart Seemed to Drop
At the Sight of the Two Empty Seats
The Seats That […]
As I Stood There,
About Television and People and Paint
To a Friend Who Was Hardly Listening
I Felt it,
The Most Wonderful Feeling
I’d Never Felt,
Of Two Arms
Wrapping Around My Waist […]
It Was a Store,
Full of Sparkling Earrings and Glimmering Make-Up.
They Dragged Me Inside,
Painted My Face With Thick Powder,
Draped Jewels Around My Neck,
Sprinkled My Hair With Glitter,
Covered My Shirt […]
I Opened the Envelope,
Curiosity Burning a Hole in My Brain.
I Carefully Unfolded the Paper.
Written in Green Ink
Were Four Sentences;
- Stop Thinking About Her
- Stop Thinking About […]
“Which One of You Was it?”
Looking at the Two Faces
That I Loved More Than Anything Else in the World.
As They Both Slowly
Raised Their Hands.
I Walked Back and Forth in Front of the Open Doorway,
Listening For Giggles or Whispering.
I Stepped Inside Every Now and Then
To Make Sure That the Nightlight Stayed On,
The Television Stayed Off,
And the […]
For Some Reason, It Was On a Stretcher,
Which Was Strange Because it Was Hardly a Human Yet.
I Knew, From the Vivid Colors and Birds-Eye View
That This Was Only a Dream;
But That Didn’t Keep the Pain […]
I Braided Them Into Her Hair,
Put Them Behind Her Ears,
Sprinkled Them Randomly Onto Her Head.
They Made Her Honey-Blond Curls Appear To Be Darker.
I Picked One Last Flower,
Brighter and Bigger Than the […]
She is There When I Cry,
He is There to Make Jokes With,
He is There to Tease Me,
She is There to Be Teased,
He is There to Give Me Piggie-Back Rides,
She’s There to Listen to My Rants,
He’s There to Teach […]
I Handed Her the Apple,
The One I’d Stolen For Myself,
The One That Meant Even a Small Meal,
That May Cease the Growling in My Stomach For at Least the Night.
But Seeing Her There,
I Was Dreaming.
I Knew That Immediately
Because He Was There,
And I’d Already Accepted the Fact
That He’s Never Coming Back.
I Ran to Him,
Yearning For His Touch,
Not Caring That He Wasn’t Real,
How Can Something So Small Hurt So Bad?
But it’s True,
My Heart is Broken…
But They Don’t Make Band-Aids
“We Could be Together You Know.
When I Get Back.”
What a Suggestion!
I Gazed at the Computer Screen,
Starstruck at the Words He Had Just Sent.
After a Moment, I Typed,
Then I Erased it.
