wings

You really expect your parents to be the ‘wind beneath your wings’ and all that. To help you fly from the nest when you’re old enough to do so. Mine haven’t really done that for me, ever. I’ve sort of glued my wings together, while I’ve been falsely unprepared with candle wax too close to the sun.

step

I stepped onto the platform and felt the heaviness in the soles of my shoes weighing myself down. I nervously swallowed the boulder-sized lump that had gradually formed in my throat just before I was to go on. I walked up to the podium and squinted before the large crowd. I was shaking internally, but I was ready. “Thank you, it’s been such an honor,” I said.

muse

I mused about the next scene in the chapter. What exactly would those characters say? Fanfiction writing is hard, since working with characters i have no idea what they’re really like is hard. DC comics have so many twists and turns, and I”m not the creator. OH well. Fanfiction writing is fun. And my editor angel, she’s the one who really handles all the character stuff.

amuse

Keeping someone or something occupied to make them forget their worries for a little bit. Amusement makes you gasp, makes you chuckle, makes you just focus on whatever’s going on and forget. It makes you see what people have been working so hard on to impress. Some may say it’s a waste of money…it’s not.

It was so amusing to me how you always managed to make me smile even in the darkest of times. You’d shove straws up your nose to make yourself look like a walrus, or you’d tell me the funniest jokes that I just couldn’t help but burst into tears at because I would laugh for minutes on end. You were truly great, do you know that? Thank you for being there for me. Thank you.

band

The children lined up on the streets all turned their heads at the sound of the drum. The band was coming! The parade was starting! The kids all cheered, some pulling on their mother’s clothes to inform them, others being picked up by their fathers to get a better look. The pounding of the drum kept a steady beat while the trumpets blew out a unique sound. The children were absolutely delighted.

Music that speaks to the soul. Somthing that draws people with a common interest together. Talented people! Great instruments.

A group of people, laughing, playing, enjoying themselves. I watch, lonely, and thinking about my rowdy, disconnected orchestra, headed by a teacher that doesn’t know half of what she’s doing. Now I wish I chose band for an elective. I’d like that.

The booming noise commanded the town’s attention. No one could avoid the rumbling roars or the frightening claps. To some it was danger. To others it was music. To everyone it was a storm.

The roar makes my ears hurt as I read through my stack of books. Scared, my little sister gives a squeal and nearly knocks me over in her dive under the cover. I huff at her before restacking the books next to the bed and retrieve the book I was reading, jumping as thunder starts again.

ill

the stringent feeling in your stomach, and the acid in your throat. I felt it when he walked by me. He wasn’t even particularly different that day. He looked like he always did.

skeleton

The bones that keep my upright so I can type and not be a big mass of blobbly muscle jelly. It’s the stuff my mom wants me to study, from the skull pieces to the names of the little ear bones. The skeleton, what keeps us upright. It’s the name of the first part of a house, the first part of any supporting structure. In children, it’s soft at first before maturing at adulthood.

ticket

I’d just won the radio contest for tickets to our favorite band in concert. I wanted to call you and see if you wanted to go, but then I remembered – hey! You’re a fucking asshole. So I took your best friend and we had a great fucking time. I even gave him head afterward. Have a nice life!

violet

Violet was the most beautiful girl I had possibly ever seen in my life. She was enchanting, in her alabaster skin and dark chocolate hair that I could run my fingers through for days. She was absolutely stunning, and I knew I could not have her. It killed me with every ounce of my being. I didn’t want to let her go, but I knew I had to. I shut the lid of her coffin and began to weep.

violent

Ah, violence. The bane of most everyone at some point or another. It’s not a word to really be used lightly, as it describes the times when people really get into kick-butt drive, for good or bad. It’s never quite struck me as right, but some people can’t learn any other way. :(

trophy

wife A pretty little thing that has meaning, usually more to the person who receives it. It is usually cheap metal that tarnishes over the years. It can also be super meaningful, and used as a symbol to signify one’s glory years. Do we really know if they exist? Maybe, maybe not. All I know is that we tend to idealize things, and make them greater than they truly are.

Things that show off your past accomplishments. Not really big to some people, but others have them displayed proudly, taking every chance to flaunt them. I’m with the first group. However, my medals from science Olympiad is a totally different scenario…

sticks

Things I used to peel the bark off. It’s quite addicting, actually, to peel the bark off sticks from trees with peelable bark.

What the second little piggie’s house was made of.

Small dead things off a tree. Well, small compared to some branches.

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE THINGS. Nicotine, things full of that horrible drug that despite all the things it does to health with no benefits, tobacco is still sold legally. We’ve banned marijauna, special pills, opium, other types of drugs. Yet this THING is sold, LEGALLY, with NO HEALTH BENEFITS. It even harms those that have the bad luck to just be STANDING next to the smoker.

bow

I smiled as the crowd bellowed with applause. I’d just finished the final performance of the week and it was time for the cast to attend to the stage and drink up their praise. I stood in the middle of the line and held hands with two of my castmates, and we both took our bows. It was the best feeling in the world.

What I want to learn how to use. Arrow and bow…the classic weapons. The one that takes actually skill, not just something you can just wave around just randomly point and kill someone.

Bending over so your back hurts. Another definition, although I prefer the weapon.

etiquette

Etiquette…Ah, the way of manners. What I really hate, cuz some manners are need (thank you, your welcome, don’t slurp, blah blah) I don’t get all the stiffness intended for girls. REally? REALLY? ReAlLy?

a system of behaviors that are determined to be appropriate in specific situations. they are assumed to be universally applicable and when not followed people are looked down upon and questioned as weired. although in some instances they may been seen as progressive and ahead of the current time.

Posted By Allison On 07.12.2011 @ 3:18 pm

Ah, the horrible sicknesses. Stuff that can wipe out continents, the stuff of nightmares. Small pox, the Black Plague (aka bubosus something or other) It’s only wiping out animals and humans…and sometimes plants. Being sick sucks. so does H1N1, and those other ones.

straw

Straw hats, the utmost symbol of rural areas. Made out of the stalks of wheat, corn maybe, different types of grass. Hard to think of those bales of stray (or is it hay? or is it straw really?) as bunches of stalks. Sounds like stalkers for some reason…goodness this is rambling.
