without

Without water for days, she stumbled through the moonlike desert, and velvety night approached on the dome of navy blue sky. A cactus silhouette outlined on the sunset, the promise of a drizzling dip of moisture.

myth

Myths from all over the world combine to create a patchwork of colors, faiths, religions, and stories. The myths from all around the world are like a quilt sewn together to create the fabric of our being.

carve

Carve our initials into the Maple tree, enclose it in a big heart. Trace the lines to make a path for they lead to our future, you see.

tide

The tide unfurled her frothy foam, revealing a trail of pearly shells and sharp, sparkling sea glass like a broken stained window or beads from a mermaid’s necklace.

bleach

Sun-bleached hair, sunkissed skin, Lake Michigan sparkling blue. Wrapped up in a blanket with you. Stars peek through and Chicago’s skyline glitters like lost confetti of a dream from not long ago.

waltz

I waltzed with Dad across the ballroom floor. He twirled me around and around eyes smiling more and more. A tear dropped onto my satin dress, for I was the first to break down and he twirled me around and around and around. We waltzed until the end of the song until he cried too, and asked what was wrong. It’s not the end, not today, but the beginning. I love you.

Leap off a cliff of luck, An Irish cliff at the edge of the world, rainbow shining in the background and the sea crashes against ancient rocks.

matching

Matching hearts Same size, same shape, same color. The color of love, dripping from the trees in sunlight. Matching hearts The color of love, shining on my skin, deeply soothingly passionately soaking into our bright souls. Matching souls woven together by prismatic music of eternity.

fireflies

Fireflies are shooting stars, sparkling across a moonlit poppy field, glimmering golden in the light. Each glowing, floating ember contains a dream of whispering winds, butterflies on the wing, and wanderlust across the star-splashed sky.

bubbles

Bubbles float effervescently, iridescently like Glinda’s prismatic palace. Tiny rainbows swirl on the surface, miniature whirlpools of dreams.

wicker

The wicker furniture on my porch is old, white and weathered. I remember it before, when it used to live on my grandparents’ porch. The rocking chair creaked slightly under my bouncing toes, and provided a cool resting place for my summer book. The trees always cast dappled shadows over the wicker furniture, and they held the smell of summer rain.

joyful

Joyful. The sound of smooth jazz playing on a crisp fall afternoon, riding in the red convertible. The leaves flash by, and swish past in a confetti of color: scarlet, orange, gold, and joy. Jazz in the Fall is the color of joy.

options

Options. How many options do I have? Do I stay or go? Do I laugh or cry? How could this happen to me? So many questions, so many “why’s”. I fade like a flower…tired, petals falling to the ground. Time for morphine. I am tired, so tired of options.

hooked

Hooked! I got him. Pulling, reeling, stretching out the thin wiry line. Zigging, zagging, the fish made my pole bend and sway like the grandson of the St. Louis arch. I couldn’t believe how shiny and slithery he was, all blue and glistening in the light.

timing

It was perfect timing. The very moment when my life was on the verge of being pulled apart; the moment when my core being was challenged the most, he appeared, out of nowhere, out of light. The result is bliss, happiness, and the ecstasy of true love.
