nest
She curls up closer into his chest, the warm heat from his skin creating a gentle blush across her cheeks. His arms wrap tighter around her; her heart lets out a soft sigh of content. This is her nest; a protective haven that is hers and hers alone. She kisses his neck and falls into a sweet slumber.

necessity
She breathes in the cold air, her skin shivering in delight. He chuckles in her ear, making her blood simmer with joy. “I love you,” he whispers quietly in her ear. She turns to him and looks into his eyes–and sees the truth in them from his words: he needs her. She’s his necessity…as he is hers.

dozen
There they go; another dozen escaped from her grasp like sand through her fingers. She sighs, feeling hopeless. When will she ever capture one butterfly? Suddenly, a box is dropped in front of her, startling her from cleaning her lenses. Curious, she lifts the lid of the box. Her mouth falls open as a beautiful butterfly flutters out. She looks over into the shadows of the forest around her; who left this wonderful present?

fireplace
She sits down on the oak floor, avoiding her boyfriend, who’s made a place for her on the loveseat. “Babe..” he tries, but she shushes him. She’s never one to hold grudges for too long; she pulls a small present out from her robe and hands it to him. Surprised, he opens the lid. “Oh.” he holds up a pair of socks, lit by the light of the dim light of the fireplace, that at the same time illuminates her joking grin that’s so large on her face, it causes him to grin, too.

dusk
The sun easily rose into the sky, like a lotus flower blooming after a long rest. She cupped the warm and piping coffee mug closer to her chest, smiling as the bitter smell of her morning brew mixed with the morning smell of a new day. She watches as the colors–pink, orange, and gold–mingle together in the sky. Yes; it will be a marvelous new day as dusk becomes day.

blemish
I’ve written once about this before. The morning sun lighting up the vast canvas before me, just itching to be drawn on. It illuminates with a light glow; what shall I draw today? Suddenly, and unfortunately, I slip on an ice cube, and my coffee goes sailing through the air toward the canvas. I sigh; as always, another ruined canvas. A simple blemish of black staining the blank canvas I was going to draw on…just like my life.

She stares in horror in the small compact mirror. There, on the center of her pinkish forehead, sprinkled with freckles, is it–a huge, disgusting, horrifying pimple. What will her date think? She hadn’t even asked him yet! Today was the big day! She groans and clamps the mirror shut, sliding down the wall with defeat. Maybe next year she’ll ask him. And have have ProActiv.

rally
He tried to get them in order. They were quite scrambled and seemed scared beyond belief. Two hundred men, all young and afraid, covered in dirt. He stood before them, his mind reeling. Finally he cleared his throat and spoke loudly and calmly.

salt
It burned every time he thought about it. Today was the worst, it felt as if she had ripped open his heart and liberally applied all the salt to his wound she could manage. He turned away from her, no one ever said love would be so hard and hurt so much. He was doomed the moment he saw her walk into the room. He wanted to run away as she kissed that prick and smiled in his direction. That bitch.

teacher
I’ve had some great teachers over the years. But I don’t know if anyone has been a better teacher than my Brother and his autism. His life has taught me to be accepting and warm and caring, and I think that is the best lesson I could have learned. If nothing else, I’m happy I’ve learned that.

wondered
I wondered at the sight of the stars at night. I wondered at the wonder of the creation of God. I wondered about the origin of disease and evil in the world. so much to wonder about in this world. God is wonderful and to be wondered at, and prayed to. I just dont understand how people cannot know Him
