experience

an experience is something you have whether good or bad. It is a moment in your life where you take something, anything out of it. Maybe a lesson, maybe a story. What ever it is an experience is a time that you will reflect on for the rest of your life.

object

I am not an object, just the image my brain sees in a mirror, a photograph… but not really me… you know Me… I don’t and then I am an object… Aren’t we all objects in a way?

racket

I close my eyes and think. I’m the best. I don’t need anyone but my self and hit. Missing the ball again, I throw the racket and kick it, giving up. Kids around me are whispering and giggling about me but I ignore it and try again. Picking up the racket, I get in position and wait. A ball comes at me and I swing. I hit the ball and it’s perfect. Smiling, I turn around and scream at the kids that were laughing, “Do you want to try doing that?” They shake their head, saying no and I smirk.

shorthand

Nancy came into the office and sat down. Mr Purvis (pervy Purvis they called him) looked over his glasses at her and pointedly stared at her skirt. “You do know how to take notes in shorthand don’t you?” he asked.

instrumental

“What do you mean get rid of him? He was instrumental in me getting this job. I can’t just desert him now, people don’t do that to friends!” She looked at me strangely.

alarmist

“Now don’t be alarmist” Sue said to Jane. “We don’t really know that the new neighbour is a pedo. He could just be your garden variety pervert.” “What’s the bloody difference?!” said Jane.

tires

The squeal of tires led her outside. Through a cloud of rubber smoke she saw a black V8 speed up the road and around the corner. The black tire tracks wove across the road like twin snakes.

passionate

She eagerly hopped up the steps of the tube station, keen to get to the gallery and see the art she was so passionate about. It had been a long time since she had had a day to herself and she was going to make the most of it!

artistry

Artistry is a cosmetic range by Amway, you know, the company that rivals the Scientologists for the “We could but a cult, but we’re not!” title. I can’t believe we were ever talked into fronting this strange this enterprise…….

relate

I just can’t relate to my Mum. I mean.I know she only wants the best for me, but I find it very hard to believe that she was ever 16 years old. That’s why the discovery of her teenage journal has completely blown my mind! Sex, drugs and rock’n'roll……..What the?! I’m freakin’ stunned!

mutual

There was a mutual understanding between the two of them. He didn’t touch her stuff and she didn’t touch his stuff but sometimes he snuck into her room when she was at ballet practice and played with her Barbies.

iron

The iron was hot and when she pressed it onto the slightly damp fabric it hissed and steamed like a mini dragon. There was nothing to this ironing business, if Mum could do it – so could she. She bet she could do all the things Mum was no longer here to do……she stopped for a moment thinking, then started, as the iron made more alarming hissing noises.

preoccupied

something that should not happen to much. Takes too much energy away, but still gets you going sometimes. Than it is a what gets you going to solve a problem or do something that you should have done a long time ago.

thief

The night was closing in and the book thief stood in the darkened library, trying to find the tome he was after. His penlight was growing dim and finally spluttered out. Damn! He should have brought extra batteries!

sage

A sage, old woman was in the process of giving Amelia advice, when she got up from her chair and left the room without a word. The old woman was nonplussed, “You cannot tell those who don’t want to listen” she said.

Dark, velvety and with a hint of cinnamon. She drank deeply from her mug and let the hot chocolate work it’s magic on her.

lean

“Lean on me when you feel tired,” he said.

I laughed. I wasn’t tired and I wouldn’t lean on him.

Too bad for that chuckle, hours later when I wanted to lean so badly but couldn’t. My pride ate me up.

basement

Up the stairs, two at a time. Like a lion is chasing me, but it’s only the dark. I’m sure there are some cave crickets too. I reach the upstairs, and I’m in one piece. That’s wonderful.

Posted By Annemarie On 01.25.2011 @ 6:00 pm

The stairs down to the basement were old and squeaky and she was trying her very hardest to creep down and surprise him. She took a few more tentative steps to reach the bottom and carefully opened the door…..

solved

It all seemed too easy, the mystery had been solved and there was nothing else for him to do. Isn’t this always where it goes wrong in the movies? he thought.

furnace

It rumbled, rumble rumble rumble. Rumble.

I was afraid when I walked out past it in the night…to pee. It was like a monster. I was scared. It rumbled. Oh no! I was okay.

sidetracked

I sat down to write a poem about you.

But all that would come were one about noodles, a cookie, a kiss and a refrigerator.

I swear you mean a lot to me. I need you to.

endless

The snow went on for ever and ever, as long as I could see.

My heart ached, and I didn’t know why.

I wanted to run and run until I reached the point where the snow and the white sky met. Endless. Oblivion.

Spider webs stuck to my face as I crawled through the hedge. I just needed to get a little closer to the house to see, and more importantly, hear what was going on inside.

The trees are blooming and glittering in the bright morning spring sun! Green and vivacious they rise out stretching to touch the blue blue sky.

It was the deal of the century. A fabulous old villa with heaps of character on a huge section. So what was the catch? The estate agent mumbled something about an unearthly presence and we turned to look at each other…….

The paper lantern swung slowly in the breeze. She looked around at the hundreds more placed in the garden and thought what a perfect evening!
