chills

I awoke, chills cascading down my back, my shoulders echoing the rhythm as I desperately searched for a smidgen of warmth somewhere in the bed. The nasty wind howled around the corners of the building, trying to burrow into the bed, too. I reached out and there was a warm back, warm body, warm arm. Turning he reached out, snaking an arm around me and sweeping me into the curve of his body. I never want to be alone again.

saturday

Saturday! My head fills with the delights of lying in bed with the sun up. I forget that the bed is uncomfortable. Breakfast in bed. Yum! Only, it’s me who has to make it. Saturday paper in bed. On the the internet. Reality strikes when it’s least welcome. Sigh!

configuration

The configuration of the loop road was confusing enough, but it was made worse by the inclusion of large plots of shrubbery concealing side roads and rest stops. The signage was old, faded and peeling, and I had trouble reading much of it. I had to face the facts – I was totally lost in a dangerous part of town.

soups

Warming, comforting, filling, tasty, winter fare… OR Damp, obscuring, misty, foggy winter nightmare.

It’s all in how you pronounce it, how you phrase it, how you mean it to be used – Soup or pea-souper!

seeds

Seeds of doubt were firmly planted when I saw him surreptiously placing money in my bag. Why on Earth would anyone do that? Where did the money come from? When I questioned him, he admitted that he was replacing it from a previous occasion. That was the last straw!

dwell

I dwell in my dreams. They tower in my mind, reaching through the heavens into the mysterious blankness of the dark. My dwellings are shapeshifters and segue from one dream in a split of a second into another.

framework

The framework of the house was up and the roof tiles had been delivered. She shivered in the brisk wind, raising the collar of her duffle coat and hunching her shoulders against the sudden chill. she could imagine the fire roaring in the chimney, marshmallows on sticks and family memories being formed.

pour

“Just shut up and pour me another beer!” shouted the grizzled old miner. “I’ve had enough of yer witterin;”

The young bar maid hoisted up her lowslung top and poured him a beer, taking care not to raise too big a head of froth because she knew from experience what would happen if she were careless.

convict

He dragged his heavy ankle up the hill, through the rubble and onto the small plateau, restng to catch his breath. The sunradiated from the dusty danstone around him and his tongue stuck to the roof of his mouth. A lonely hawk circled above as if to signal an impending source of food. There was no shade and he wearily resumed his trudge to the summit of the hill, hoping against all hope that the well was not empty.

hassle

What a hassle!!! i had to get everything out of the car before I could get out myself – but there was no-one outside the car to hand everything to. I could have just tossed all the stuff on the garage floor in a heap but 2 laptops and a container of soup would have made that manoeuvre a messy one. How was I going to do it?

architecture

I like eccentric architecture. Objects that bend to their environment and twist to fit the indvidual needs of their particular users. Hundertwasser and Gaudi avoided straight lines and developed styles that set them apart from the crowd. You can look at one of their buldings and KNOW who designed them. Trees on the roof – why not? Towers side by side and completely unalke – why not? Who came up with the rule that buildings must be symmetrical, linear and – boring? Why should all the windows be the same size and sit n a line?

leading

Leading the way along the top of the falls, he picked over the stones, throught the trickling water and onto safe ground. Her hand was warm and wet in his. With a sense of pride he turned and enveloped her in a massive bear hug.
