hinge

A hinge holds something together. What’s holding me together? What’s my hinge? What keeps me from falling apart when I hear something I can’t bear or look in the mirror and hate what I see? To be honest…I have no idea. I can’t imagine anything could be that strong.

bland

He was nothing but bland from head to toe. That was my first thought as he walked in the room with his cacti pants and simple black shirt. But there was something about him that still caught my eye… must have been how simply mundane he was.

apron

There once was a little old lady who sat in her house and wished she had done something with her life. DAy in and day out she wore an apron… then one day something changed. A younge girl knocked on her door and asked for a cup of sugar. Sure enough she was a young baker who was in need of not only sugar but a friend.

obey

why should i listen to you? you give me these demands that are absolutely trivial and do nothing but calm your peace of mind instead of making sense. you know what, why don’t YOU do that stuff instead and tell me how much sense it makes to do all that extra work. i’m sure you’ll end up agreeing with me.

dim

She walks into the apartment with the lights dimmed and she wonders what he has in store for her. He never lights candles, so she knows something is going to happen.

She’d had a bad day, so he thought it would be nice to eat his specialty by candlelight – grilled cheese and canned soup. Hey, points for presentation.

horses

There’s something about seeing horses when I drive past a farm that always makes me stare. I’m not exactly sure why but there’s always that childish glee that makes me point and shout “horses!” to whomever is driving with me in the car. Thankfully everyone else driving with me usually gets excited too.

laughter

We make it daily in summer, although it comes more reluctant in the colder months. Peoples faces burst with the glory of it and its infectious melody lightens any empty room. It is, I think, the most beautiful choir in the world.

rules

I’m that person who says she will follow rules to a T… unless they’re for a game I don’t like or work. But when it comes to games I can be extremely competitive and if people get the rules muddled especially when I’m winning… ohhh boy. I’ll call you out on it.

solitaire

I like solitaire. You can play it on your laptop, or with cards. There’s probably an app about it somewhere. MY mom and grandma are both totally obsessed with it. They always play it. I’m okay at it, I guess. I just do one or two suits, though. Gramma and Mom both do all four suits. They’re the pros.

prints

The word “prints” could refer to prints of images, documents, etc. Prints, in reference to photographs capture a moment in time, typically significant to the “printer”. One’s purpose for printing may be to possess a second copy, or a hard copy, of an image or document for a variety of purposes. Prints, once created, can be quite useful.

patent

Patent. To patent something. An idea. Your idea. Came from you, nursed by you, raised by you. What makes it yours? What lets other people know it’s yours? How can you let other people know it’s yours? Patent. To patent something. An idea. Yours.

tires

Tires, the round black wheel of an automobile. The tired of freedom. The path to an adventure every moment you roll along. It is away from home, away from the stress. Freedom.

still

Don’t move. Don’t even breathe, she said. If you do, they’ll see you and they’ll eat you. I can’t have that. I can’t have that happen again. So shut up, hold your breath, and stay quiet. You’ll be sorry if you don’t and I’ll be sorrier because I’ll never see you again. Your mother will kill herself and you’re gonna make me take care of this all by myself. I can’t do this on my own, kids.

automatic

this story i am writing is automatic, because on the previous page i was instructed to “just write, don’t think.” now where do you think that sort of behaviour will take us? off into the wild unknown? or down the rabbit hole of chaos?

Posted By Courtney On 10.25.2011 @ 9:21 am

I can’t even think about doing something automatically because of the time it takes me to come up with an idea, even just for this when there’s really no pressure at all. I want to be able to write automatically, but it usually takes me at least…well, years to come up with something I think is even worth typing out and I guess that’s a by-product of having written in and wasted so much paper in notebooks. If I’m writing something, I want it to be something permanent and that I’m proud of writing, even if it’s just something I can highlight and delete and start over with, that simply.

conviction

i feel convicted about my life. i feel one thing, yet am told to do another. it bothers me a lot because i want to be a good person yet i’m told that EVERY decision i make it the wrong one. i wonder constantly what you want from me..yet when i ask i get no clear answer. we do well for a while and then we collapse.

Posted By courtney On 10.11.2011 @ 4:46 pm

I don’t really know what to say about conviction. I think about being convicted. Mostly being convicted of a crime. But, besides that, nothing comes in mind. Maybe I’m not just as educated in that word, who knows. I guess I’ll see. Conviction though, man what a word.

Posted By Courtney On 10.11.2011 @ 2:50 pm

Conviction is not a word I really understand. I think it;s something to do with sending criminlas to their rightful place? Or is that justice? So conviction… Being convicted of a crime?

Posted By Courtney On 10.11.2011 @ 1:16 pm

Crime, evil money fraud. Accusing one of something. Bad word. negative. Strength. Hard. Different. Difficult. Force.

Stacks of cards?! Or stacks of bills? At this point in my life, I feel like the bills are stacking more than anything. There’s also something about smoke stacks… and the lack of functioning they’re doing these days. Somehow, this all just makes me sad. Maybe it’s my mood or maybe it’s today, but stacks just isn’t making me feel any better.
