laughter
Laughter is joyful. It sounds like a crystal bell ringing. Laughter is what you do when you’re happy. You laugh when something’s funny. You laugh just to laugh.

rules
Rules are guidelines for a place. Like in our youth room, we have rules that include: raise your hand to talk, don’t talk while someone else is talking, no phones. Rules are what you’re supposed and not supposed to do.

positively
Effie is positively bubbly. Like really bubbly. You can “positively” do something, like, she positively picked up the magazines. I am positively crazy. :) I absolutely, positively, love HARRY POTTER! :D

There are many types of prints. There are paw prints that an animal leaves. You can use it in a sentence like, “She prints the pictures on the printer.” There are also hand prints, or finger prints, or foot prints.

autumn
Ooh, autumn is a lovely season. It’s not hot, but it’s not very cold either. All the leaves fall down to ear in a different variety of colors. We go rake the leaves and them jump in them. Autumn is also called fall, but I think autumn sounds more pretty.

alarmist
I think Sybill Trelawney is an alarmist. McGonagall said she’s prophesied the death of a student each year she’s worked at Hogwarts, but none of them have come true. An alarmist is someone who raises alarm, like predicting calamities.

combination
A combination is like two different colors together, like blue and yellow make green. Green is the combination of blue and yellow. Or you could combine ingredients to make something. Like on Tuesday, we combined butter, vanilla, cinnamon, and milk to make butterbeer. The butterbeer was the combination of those ingredients.

profound
Profound means deeply knowledgeable. I think Hermione is profound because she is very smart. Profound can also mean intense, like a profound silence.

epiphany
Epiphany is a Christian holiday to celebrate when the Magi visited Jesus. It is also a revelation of something. Like in DH Part 1, Hermione had an epiphany while cutting Harry’s hair. She said, “Oh my gosh! Why didn’t I think of that before?”

passionate
People are passionate about many things. For instance, I am passionate about reading and writing. If you are passionate about something it means you love doing it. My mom is passionate about knitting. My dad is passionate about preaching.

husband
If you are a woman, the husband is whom you’re married to. Many people say that wives should submit to their husbands, and that’s true, but husbands should also submit to their wives. And most people say that women should do the cooking and the cleaning, and my mom does some, but my dad does some of it too.

still
A still is a photo. You can also be still. Like if I weren’t typing right now, or moving my feet, I would be still. I was just still for three seconds. My parents also tell me to sit still, but I can’t.

artistry
Artistry is how something is well-done or well-made. Singing, knitting, painting, nearly every type of craft is full or artistry. The people who do these things make it look like they aren’t even lifting a finger.

shepherd
God is my shepherd. He watcheth over me. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. God is my shepherd. He watcheth over me.

There are automatic doors that open whenever you walk in front of them. Um, I can’t think of anything else. :/

awakening
Awakening. Upon awakening, I realized that I had dried tears on my cheeks. (not really) Upon awakening, I thought that I should write down the dream I had.

Relate. I can relate to what some characters feel in a book. My best friend can relate to me. But relate means another thing, too. I am relatED to my relatives. Now everyone can relate to THAT.

castle
A castle is where a royal family lives. I used to pretend I lived in a castle when I was little. Hogwarts is a castle. Cair Paravel is a castle. I like to pretend I live in those places. Castle is a fancy place where someone lives.

mutual
You can have a mutual friendship, like on Facebook, if your friend has a friend that you have something in common with, it will show you that person and try to get you to add them as a friend. But it’s not just on Facebook. Your friend can introduce you to their friends, and so on…

dull
Dull can describe many things. Some people think doing homework is dull (boring), some people think reading is dull (it is NOT!), and some people think oneword is dull. I don’t agree, I think this site is quite nice. But dull means boring.

warfare
Warfare is not a word you use everyday. I believe it’s a synonym for war, which is the antonym of peace. War means the exact opposite of peace, it means that everyone’s arguing and fighting and it’s just not pretty.

compassion
Compassion International is where you can sponsor a child who lives in a poor country. Compassion is something you feel for someone else, it’s like showing them love, hence the name of Compassion International.

conviction
Conviction is being convicted of something of being accused, is it not? Like, I was convicted of stealing the apples. He was convicted of robbing the bank. I’m not sure if this is right…

I have stacks of paper on the shelf in my closet. She stacks all the hay neatly outside the barn. He stacks his application papers on the desk.

Iron is a type of metal. It’s also what you use to IRON your clothes. “I am going to iron my pants.” “I found some iron in this mine.”

setting
Setting is the time and place where a story happens. I was setting the table for my party. I was setting up the computer. The setting for Cinderella is in the past. I was setting up the desk.

warned
You’ve been warned! About what, I don’t know. “YOU’VE BEEN WARNED” is something that you would see on an anonymous note or a wall in a scary movie.
You’ve been warned.
