Undone. The knots of life, The twists and turn, The everyday strife.

Trained. The unknown worlds, Found ourselves learning, Things that weren’t necessary.

Loved. When she could, Tried to take it all in, Thought she would.

Battled. The great task of parents. Who really just cared, But like we ever show it.

Sold. To the husband that’s not mine. Trying to make things better, Trying to figure out how wounds heal in time.

Unexplainable. One word to describe the way people listen to others. Just as the slaves used to listen to white people. We were trained to believe that that was just how things were, that we couldn’t change anything. But now…Look how far we’ve come. We’ve changed almost everything about the United States.
