July

July is one of my favorite months. My daughter was born in July and she is the joy of my life. I also don’t have to work in July and I can enjoy my summer vacation.

past

Dark times. Always trying to move forward. Learn from your experiences. Move forward. History. Antiques.

forth

to go forward, many people think fort worth is forth worth, some people may think this is a number before five, it sort of rhymes with worth, sally forth, go forward,

possible

It was never really possible before. Only when she thought about it logically. She never would have guessed it would ever be possible. But life changes – that’s for sure. Her life had taken so many twists and turns through the years. And now – possibilities abounded for her.

approval

Honestly there isn’t anything in which you need approval. Once you’re fixed on something that you want to do -doesn’t even matter what it is, you should do it. Well, just as long as your not hurting anyone but you know that’s a different story. Only person that needs to approve anything about your life is yourself.

fuses

The fuse box was in the basement and really did have fuses. Not breakers, but the screw in, glass top, old-fashioned kind of fuses. She’s known how old the house was when she bought it, but this just confirmed it. Smiling, she reached for the box of extra fuses that was on top, and replaced the blown one.

science

The science of things are very hazy. A way to do things, actually. The science of living, the science of waking up. The science of how to make that omelet for breakfast without burning it to bits. There’s a beautiful science to everything; sometimes they don’t need to figured out.

railroad

The railroad track run behind my house. Just on the other side of the wimpy fence the landlord put in. It might keep a chicken in, if it was a fat chicken. The tracks always worried me, what with the kids being so young. I remember my own attaction to them when I was a young child.

mayor

The mayor paced back and forth in his office. Election results were still coming in, and it was really close. He’d been the mayor almost all of his adult life. It was unthinkable that he could lose his job. Not only that, but to her. She wasn’t even one of them.

cathedral

What the hell? Cathedral? What am I supposed to do with that! I could write something like – the cathedral had a hushed interior, smelling of mold and old books. You could just tell that mildewy fabric was hidden somewhere close.

straw

I think that standing me up on Saturday was the last straw. I’m usually pretty easy going about these things, but after three broken dates in a row, I was getting pretty angry. This was a special date, in particular. One for which I had a new dress, and gotten my nails done.

brief

The brief was in my folder and ready to go. I took a deep breath to steady myself and then walked much more confidently than I felt up the steps to the courthouse. This would be the first time I went before a judge by myself, for my client. This judge was supposed to be one of the nicer ones, I hoped.

switching

We were switching cars when I saw the dent. It wasn’t really a dent, so much, and a few scratches. In my new (to me!) car door. Probably a shopping cart in a parking lot, but who knows what it will cost. Then my husband saw it.

nest

Her nest was so small I almost missed it. Right on the front porch, under the eaves. She was a Mourning Dove. I knew she’d been hanging around for awhile, but when I realized she had a next in the porch ceiling, I started paying more attention to her.

chat

We chat. Alot. But really not about much that’s important. We even chat via instant messages when we’re in the same room. I think it’s the contact we need to maintain. That connection between us. We’re apart so much and we need to be together much more.

grind

It’s teh same old grind every day. Get up, eat breakfast, let the dogs out. There’s no variance, no surprises. Almost no surprises. Sometimes one of the dogs has a little present for me. Otherwise, no surprises. So I do it over and over. I think, no, I KNOW that my life is groundhog day!

jelly

Jelly fish. Or is it jellyfish. We saw some of those at the aquarium yesterday. I had no idea there were so many kinds, or that they got so big. My friend was amazed, and said that even in her country, there must be many kinds of jellyfish.

cap

The cap and gown hung on a hanger in the bedroom. It was a long time coming. Three kids, two marriages, and she’d lost track of how many moves. Fingering the fringe of the scarf, a sigh escaped her.

convict

I never thought we would convict. The nine of us sat in the jury deliberation room, stunned I don’t think any of us saw this coming. The evident, when taken as inividual pieces, really didn’t make a case. But as a whole – that’s where the case was made.

hassle

I don’t want any more hassles. Really. I think I’ve had enough. I want one day to go swimmingly. Magnificently. Or at lease hassle free. I think there might be a haiku in there. Anyway, I don’t want any more issues, or problems, or upsets, or inconveniences.

shorthand

shorthand, what is this a short hand or is it a writing form. Hmmmmm, I wonder if it were a person with a shorthand if they would have a short foot, or short body, or short finger. Maybe they could be a short-order cook. haha. Sometimes it can be a shorttime rather than a short hand.

sliver

The shiny silver amulet dangled from the princess’s neck. It gleamed in the moonlight, like her shiny golden hair. She stroked the amulet to give her luck. She took a deep breath and began to climb the mountain. She hoped she had enough strength to get to the top.

lift

Oh, how I need a lift, and the best way to get a lift, is to give one. I am talking a spiritual lift. It is Sunday, how many people are going to church to get a lift from the Lord. I am for sure, and thankfully I have the faith to know that my only lift is from the Lord.

walls

white. but I can color. I am in charge. I can paint, wallpaper, draw write on these walls. Me. I can surround myself with beauty and creativity. I am the one who can get out of my own way. They don’t have to stay white. I bring the color. The color to my world.
