So it captures a moment, but it doesn’t capture their thoughts. It doesn’t capture their emotions. It captures only what you see, and what you see is not what you get. Can the camera tell you that she’s all alone on the inside? Can it tell you that he’s unsure of everything?
A camera? Unneeded. Use your own eyes and see the truthPosted By el On 08.03.2012 @ 6:29 am
It spins quite fast, and your eyes can’t even see it. It’s like our every day lives, really. The parts just fly past your eyes and turn into a blur, just like each normal day of our life turns eventually into a grey blur. Grey like the metal and hard like it too, it’s like reality.Posted By El On 07.10.2012 @ 7:51 am
my whole life is a dilemma. waking up in the morning is a dilemma, what to wear is a dilemma. i don’t really care, but other people do. the man i wake up next to is a dilemma. not because of how i feel, but because of how it affects other people. what to eat is a dilemma; that one is my dilemma though. to go to work or not is a dilemma, but one i cannot really have control over. coming home is a dilemma, so is going to bed. choosing to repeat this all again, that is the greatest dilemma.Posted By el On 05.29.2012 @ 8:57 am
“Just turn your head a little, slightly to the right and down”, he heard himself say. He had become too good at allowing them to believe he was fine. Allowing them to think he was his normal self. Confident and happy and so in love with his work, that he was excited by every snap of the camera lens. Yet everything seemed like a film now, slowly playing in front of his eyes, he still had the lead role, but his heart was no longer in it. His mind was somewhere else and only she knew where to find it.Posted By El On 04.20.2012 @ 7:57 am
He flew into a temper at her, right then and there. In the middle of the street. Screaming and yelling in her face, arms flying about in the air, hurling abuse at her. She looked like she wanted the ground to swallow her whole. We all warned her about him, we told her never to marry him. We always said she could do so much better. She never listened, just laughed it off and just went on ahead and married him. Looks like she is finally realizing what we warned her all about..Posted By El On 03.25.2012 @ 12:50 pm

The streets were filled and spilling over; boats were lining the port and no one could get in or out. We were stuck and could only do one thing, the same thing that everyone else was doing. Riot. Who knows what we were protesting, who knows what they were protesting.Posted By El On 10.29.2011 @ 9:34 am
i really missed home when i was gone. i missed the bright sunshine and the songs of chirping birds that were familiar to my midwestern ears. You dont really notice how much you miss something untill its gone. Enjoy the simple things, while theyre still there. i hate having to leave and be away from things that are familiar. I hate that feeling in the pit of your stomach when you know you will never feel this way or be with this person probably ever again. You just cant look back. Dont do it. It brings backs too many memories that are sour to your small heart.Posted By El On 08.20.2011 @ 9:50 am
Tabula rasa. I would love to be able to be a truly blank canvas – that you could give me a random word and I would come up with something truly original would be an amazing talent/achievement!
This makes me think of children as well… you have to be so careful with them not to enforce your own preconceptions about life into the way that they view things. They never interpret things with the context that they should.Posted By El On 08.08.2011 @ 8:55 am
Inspector Gadget was one of my favourite TV programmes as a kid. I can still remember the theme tune. I think I loved it because it was ridiculously inventive – kids don’t care about stuff like logic, they want you to push the boundaries as far as you possibly can. And it certainly did that!
(They also like catchy theme tunes.)Posted By El On 04.21.2011 @ 9:34 am
“We’re better, connected.”
How shocking is it, that when somebody writes a very good piece of copy for an ad campaign that it means whenever you see that KEY word, you just have to think of the ad. For example, “Every little…” “Enjoy…”
Oh the woes of consumerism!Posted By El On 04.06.2011 @ 1:05 pm
Swept away by the wind, the sad little plastic bag tumbles over the urban landscape like tumbleweed on the prairie. It’s short life is extended by this beautiful moment, where it flies away, free, and will not be pinned down into any rubbish dumps or recycling centres.Posted By El On 03.06.2011 @ 1:34 pm
I can’t look at the word example without thinking of the letters that are used to make it up. Either it’s the typeface on this website, or they are all exceedingly good looking letters. The ‘e’s are very beautifully rounded off, as are the ‘a’ and the ‘m’. The ‘l’ is elegant, and the ‘x’ has a certain je ne sais quoi about it that finalises the elegant charm of these letter forms.
Lovely.Posted By El On 03.05.2011 @ 5:50 pm
It was a complex problem, to the novice eye. He was quite pleased with the reaction of his students. Everyone seemed rather puzzled, and they were certainly taking it seriously, thank God. One particular girl at the back of the class was particularly interesting. She didn’t seem too worried… Oh well, there was always going to be one genius who picked up the basics.Posted By El On 03.01.2011 @ 5:14 pm
Strong actually, interestingly, makes me think of Mr. Strong.
The red square who ate 10 eggs for breakfast every morning. Why was Strong depicted as red and in a square? I think I understand the square – the equal length sides, giving a sturdy structure that’s difficult to collapse. But the red is interesting. Generally used to represent anger. So I guess it could be seen as ‘strong’ in the aggressive sense.Posted By El On 02.26.2011 @ 7:43 pm
Times tables are one of my favourite things (except for the ones you don’t know, like the 13x those ones really annoy me). But I especially like the 3s and 7s, probably because together they make 21 which is my birthday. The 7s generally are very nice looking, lots of lovely shapes, 7, 14, 21, 28, 35, 42, 49, 56, 63, 70, 77, 84.Posted By El On 02.25.2011 @ 6:02 pm
