mythology
Thade lofted a brow, curious to the person before him. “You don’t believe in the gods?” He asked softly, the man scoffed. “Please, that’s like asking if I believe in magic.” Thade smiled. “Well, do you?” The man laughed and shook his head. “I pity the man who believes in Gods.” Thade’s expression dropped into serious intensity. “I pity the man who doesn’t.”

alter
The rainbow girl stepped softly over the debris towards the once colorful alter of Joy. A tear slipped down her cheek as she looked around at the broken pieces of a once beautiful religion, of a once powerful building that would lift hearts and help smiles. But of course, the gods had abandoned the people, and this was no more than a big building to them.

I’m so sick of not being able to tell people how I feel. “I like you. We could be friends. Let’s.” No. That’d be weird. Can’t say that.

paperclips
They hold together the important things in life, those papers we depend so heavily on to pass a semester, photographs that tie together memories. Maybe they’re just there to entertain the child in her mother’s office hiding under the desk with nothing else to do but create an endless chain of a beautiful array of colors.

Thade picked one lonely piece of metal off the dusty ground. Unfolding the paperclip, he chuckled. Thorn, glancing over his shoulder, scoffed. “Soft metals don’t make for anything useful.” She muttered, kicking her boots at the floor. Thade smiled, his warm understanding smile. “They did, in simpler times.”

they’re good for holding papers together, and can be used to poke someone’s eye out if it’s straightened out. they’re tough to get completely straight though. i like the jumbo, silver kind. they’re my favorite.

boa
A small smile crept upon the lips of her brother. Thade gently picked up a feathery chain and draped it across his shoulders, laughing at the stupidity of the object. “A feather boa!” His excitement was impossible to deny, as he laughed and twirled, wiggling the boa like a child with a new toy. Thorn growled and shook her head, walking away. “I knew a costume shop was a bad idea.”

sheets
Thade looked out of the window with dismal enthusiasm. “Well…. we need it….” He blinked slightly as he suddenly realized Thorn was gone. Looking around, he found her outside, standing in the rain. Water fell in sheets, pouring warm sweet life onto the ground. Thorn stood, calm, her hand outstretched as if to catch as much as she could. For an instant, Thade saw Ragni, his innocent sister.

stamps
they go on letters and are found at the post office`you can buy them, and you need them to mail stuff, and their not that expensive.

Thade blinked, confused for a moment as the blood dripped off his nose, like water having been splashed on the face. “Is this what you… is this what you do to people how don’t agree?!” He asked, his words were hushed. “Yes. I stamp them out.” Thorn’s grin shook him to the core as she put her boot in the mess that was once a girl’s head. Insanity.

Stamps are used to mail letters. Stamps cost money. The revolutionary war was fought partially because the British were taxing stamps. Stamps come in many different varieties. They stick to envelopes and some have picture of famous people on them.

temper
Thade smirked slightly. as the girl stepped back from his sister. Thorn scoffed and tossed her blade aside, blood splattering the ground as it arched away from hand, dripping red. “Don’t tell me I have a temper.” She said softly, her voice so much colder as it whispered lustfully. The girl, clutching her wound, looked at Thorn in shock. Thorn grinned. “I’ll show you what a temper can be.”

believer
Thorn hissed as the knife was pulled, inch by inch out of her shoulder. The serrated edges caught every piece of ragged skin. The boy grinned, licking her blood off the knife. “You don’t believe in Gods?” He said disapprovingly. “I’ll make you a believer.”

amazed
I was indescribably amazed at the detail my friend put into her penis sculpture during art class. Mind blown. The design, the craftsmanship, the technique..flawless.

willow
“Weeping like a willow, eh?” Thade smiled sweetly, touching Ishaura’s shoulder gently. “….. What the fuck is a willow?” Her voice was almost annoying, but curious as well. The man chuckled, in his mind he saw the grand weeping willows, branches flowing like tears. But Ishaura didn’t even know what a tree was, let alone a specific type. “An old beauty of an old world.” His voice, usually joyous and silly, was suddenly old and distant. “You’re weird.”

teeth
white soldiers of the mouth. crushing. fighting. smiling in victory. shimmery, white knights in enamel. protected from evil cavities by antibacterial toothpaste. Spearmint.

Thorn grinned, her sickening smile made the boy whimper in fear. “Such beautiful teeth you have…” She placed the pliers gently against his canine. “I think I might take one,…. or five…” Blood splattered, his scream was barely audible over Thorn’s laughter echoing in the tunnels.

admit
Most people say, “if only walls could speak…” And although I am sure they would offer up more dirt than what can typically be found on them, little of it would be useful and much of it would be harmful. If I had my way, my dogs would speak in a language I could understand. Because I really wish one of them would admit to eating the Gingerbread Ornaments.

Thade looked at Ja’k, his eyes were sullen and empty. Ja’k frowned, concerned that he’d just prodded at a beehive of emotions that had been repressed so carefully. “No I won’t admit that. Ever.” Thade turned on his heel and strode away with steps harder than usual.

transport
I would like to transport myself to somewhere different. Somewhere with no school, no drama, no structure. I’d like to live in an apartment filled with books and drink tea all day long. I would like to transport myself there.

copper
Boom, bang, boom, rattle, ting. A little laughter rung between and then boom, bang, boom, rattle ting. I put the last dish in the dishwasher and turned around to look at my son. Boom, Bang, boom, rattle, ting. My poor copper pots, I thought as his little fist gripping the metal spoon went up only to come down again. Boom, bang, boom, rattle, ting.

diagram
Ja’k tapped his stick into the dirt and grinned at his tiny little diagram. Thade, leaning over his shoulder, lofted a brow. “It looks like a monkey arguing with a walrus.” He said offhandedly. Ja’k growled. “First of all I don’t know what a walrus is, and second it’s a diagram of Grace.”

I looked at the paper laying on my desk. Lines and little words seemed o ramble everywhere with no clear direction or destination. Closing my eyes first, I shifted my gaze to the clock on the far wall. Seven minutes left before the bell. Looking at my paper once again, I double checked that each sentence had been diagramed and then turned in my test.

affection
Just another Friday night. She was in front of the computer, while the object of her affection watched a hockey game. The baby slept upstairs. Is this what family life will entail in the years to come?

Thorn hissed, pushing the zombie girl back with one disdainful finger. “Get. Away. From me.” Her voice was ice cold. Pia looked up, her pleading, watery eyes were lost on the rebel’s blindness. “But….” Pia smiled, ducking beneath Thorn’s arm she wrapped her constructed arms around the angry pirate. “I love you.”

understood
“Love?” Thorn scoffed, almost offended at the word that had suddenly began to bombard her every day. “Why? I have never been able to understand that word.” Ja’k looked at her, hurt but coy all the same. “I’ll teach you.” He said softly, gently brushing a bang from her cheek with a softness that didn’t exist in their world.

railroad
Tears streamed down his face wetting the top of his shirt. He threw the stick that he had been using to gouge at the dirt into the woods. Still angry over his rejection, the first of many to come, he kicked the railroad tracks with all of his 10 year old might. The tears continued to flow, but now they were for a different reason.

Monopoly. That game that sucked up hours of my childhood. And caused countless fights with brothers. Nobody wanted to be the banker. If you managed to buy all the railroads, the other players didn’t have a chance. All the railroads were better than Boardwalk and Park Place, though not better than owning those plus all the green properties.

flakes
Thade stared, dumbfounded up at the the sky. The white flakes fell, with grace and poise so alien to this world. He was uneasy because of it. Calm. Calm didn’t exist in this world. There was only chaos. The soothing white gently covering the land with it’s love was… wrong.
