common

It was hard being born so common. My blonde hair and blue eyes looking just like every German child and my name sounding the same. I looked around and wondered how we were the first country to achieve a super race. The explanation seemed simple enough: gene mutation. I struggled with the history of it.

salute

The men stood tall, proud of their occupation. The admiral walked by, his medals and stripes sitting prominently on his chest, inspecting the fresh faces of the new troops. Too young, he thought. He stared at the men and then loudly proclaimed, “Men, I salute you!”

trend

I hate the new trend. Pants practically around the boy’s ankles, boxers hanging out. What will they think of next. I hope it includes dressing the boys like humans instead of rag dolls! Oh, and the girls need to put some more clothes on too because at those young ages, I have no desire to see their flat tummies and chests.

carve

My father loved to carve wood into intricate doodles and little creatures impersonating bigger creatures. They were always beautiful and sometimes a bit inappropriate. I’ll never forget the time the governor walked by one of his larger pieces and commented on its beauty. I’d never seen my father smile so big. I will miss him.

spike

The dog growled at me threateningly. I pulled back, afraid of the damage he could do to my fragile skin. He barked, his body banging against the little white picket fence. Someone’s face appeared in the window. I waved the mail high in the air. She smiled and came right out. “Good boy Spike. Now leaver her alone!” With that, Spike sank onto his haunches and let me proceed with my job.

liar

That’s all that you are. That’s you. You do this all the time. You did this too many time. I’m done with you. You hurt me beyond belief. I can’t take that. I walked away because the pain is too much. I’m better now. I have learned. I can’t take you anymore.

peculiar

It’s strange how when I try to be close to you, you pull away. unknowing are you of what truly goes on in my head, but yet it seems so normal to you. Why must this go on, in this peculiar way? Why do the charades continue, and the lies build?

bleach

Making things white, burning faces, eradicating bacteria; bleach has many uses, but it is essentially a corrosive material – we bottle it and think we have tamed the beast, yet it escapes sometimes. Beware the bleach

My mother, standing by the sink in her yellow sundress, poured a capful of bleach into the water to wash the dishes. I banged on my table with fists full of silverware, my sister beside me sang a nursery rhyme. My mother, sun in her hair and a weary haggard face, did not tell us to be quiet. She discretely poured the bleach into our oatmeal.

HAHAHA I’M DEAD NOW, BITCH!

waltz

I dance for you and with you, and together we will move as one. I dream of you when my eyes are closed as I do when they are open. If I could spend every moment of every day with you, I would. If I could kiss you and hold you in my dreams, It would make it easier to part.

Leap up in the air as if you didn’t have a care in the world. As if you weren’t tethered to the ground by Ethernet cables and buried under a cloth of wi-fi signals. Or tell your Blackberry to go take a flying one….

matching

We all match in some way, whether it’s opinions, clothes, age, gender or where we live. Sometimes we match in many aspects, sometimes only in one or two. What’s it like when you find someone you match in almost every respect? Is it a good or bad thing?

Charlie Brown lamented that he couldn’t get his kite past the stupid tree. It felt like that tree was out to get him. Just like life. Alyways after poor pitiful Charlie Brown.

Once when I was younger I decided to see how high I could fly my kite. I tied several lengths of string together until I had probably 300 yards worth. It took a while to get the kite in the air because itw asn’t very windy that day. Once it was up though and I had let out the full length of the rope, it was so high it just looked like a very tiny dot.

detour

I had to take a detour and I found one of the most beautiful drives I’ve ever been on. I’ve lived in this county my entire life and never knew it was there. Barely paved, great old trees lining the road. Open fields behind them. I could not have been happier in my robin’s egg blue convertible and my loyal dog J.

I feel them every time you’re around. And I wish I could hold my own, but I fail miserably. You speak and my stomach goes insane. Flit, flutter, fly, fly, fly. Sorry, I’m such a wreck.

Sometimes I really like to drink sparkling mineral water. I know its kind of… pretentious when you already have a class of regular water sitting right there, but I just love it. Somehow it just tastes better.

She crossed her arms and stared at him. What did he think she was supposed to do? Just not do anything about it? He had let her down. And now he must face the consequences. Severe, unadulterated consequences. Now who was in control.
