She swings her backpack over her frozen shoulder. How long has she been in that cold alleyway? She hears footsteps. Quickening her pace, she darts across the cold pavement, searching for an exit to safety.

John flipped through the pages of his daughter’s scrapbook. Where did he go wrong? One of the pages, torn from overuse, contained a montage of photographs, mainly of her mother.
