It was inevitable, they said. Artie’s way of life just didn’t comply with the law, and though he said “Life works out somehow,” he was stuck in prison for 24 years, wasting away. Artie was great, but… in the end he got what he deserved.

I see a light bulb right in front of me. It’s part the lamp above our kitchen table. The nights grow longer these days, summer is almost over, and I need the light on. Sad but true. August is here, and soon September, and then it’s winter. I haven’t enjoyed this summer enough, just some work, and then wasting time.
