startled

I was so startled when I saw myself in the mirror the other day. It was me. I thought that after the despicable acts…after all of the wrong things I’ve been doing…my face and body should have mutated in some disgusting way. But it was still me! I think this is a new start for me.

substance

give me a little bit of it. i know you have some. or maybe you dont. its been a while since weve seen each other so its hard to tell if you know what it even is, let alone have it. If you dont… maybe you should get some. Ill come with you. it might be a long long trip ahead and it might even be back breaking but as long as we both know our goal we will be satisfied.

natural

i bet was going to be the same word again, and i was right. man, that’s not natural. you can’t repeat yourself like that. you’re not a recycling machine. wait, though, wait. you are. you, and me, and all of us, perhaps. huh. what a fresh thought, isn’t it?

it’s the same word again. i wasn’t expecting that. it’s always the same things, only said in different words. my words stumble. it’s rather difficult not to, when you don’t know how to speak. i haven’t learned yet to not to let my words scramble away when you’re looking at me like that. you’re always looking at me like that; like you want to hit me, or grab at me, as if i was your anchor, or something cheesy like that.

the time is running out. ha. that’s only natural. why do i feel like i can’t avoid spelling it out? say it out loud? you’re not listening. not anymore. or maybe you never did, i don’t think so, i don’t think so. you are running out. not in the sense of running out of this place, no, you’re running out just like time,

mist

I looked into the mist squinting. Was that a shadow? Wait, a movement? Something dark seemed to be approaching me. Why was the mist so heavy? It was dark so it was hard to tell if the figure before me was friend or foe. I guessed foe by the way he snuck up on me rather than approach me in the normal humane fashion.

pregnant

Her belly was getting bigger every day. The baby would come out soon. He kicked every once in a while, surprising Ashley, but in a pleasant way. She smiled as her children reached up to feel the baby’s kicks.

pool

I jumped into the pool half expecting the rush of freezing cold water. What I was not expecting, however was the sqeezeing as air escaped out of my lungs. I relished the cold water although it hurt to breathe and stung to the touch.

recorder

I slipped my hand into my pocket, discreetly fumbling for my small tape recorder. I pressed play and continued to listen to the man’s rambling. He went on and on, bragging about his master plan. Little did he know that I was going to have the whole thing on tape where I could broadcast it.

survive

“How do you expect me to survive on a case of rhamen noodles?” She asked. “Simple. College kids do it every day. Now get to it.” She whined, “but you can’t do this to me!!!!” “I can and I will. I’m doing it.” the harsh voice said.

chase

Flashing lights blared, blindingly. He pushed the car faster. The police were catching up…heart racing, Ryan floored the car trying to out run the police. What a chase. Ryan hoped this would be worth the money for the job…

apron

Flour fell from her fingers onto her stark white apron. She barely noticed it as she continued to knead the bread dough. The lovely smells of baking filled the room. She loved baking so much. It was her life. Her love. Baking was who she was.

wine

A fresh unopened bottle of wine stood on the table. Meg tried hard not to look at it. It seemed that ever since she’d decided to stop drinking, alcohol stared her in the face, laughing. Why did this have to happen? It was just more difficult for her to resist the temptation.

microphone

Bits of marshmallow came flying from his mouth, clinging to the mike in all their sticky gooeyness. The crowd laughed and applauded as the man left the stage. The next woman stepped forth. She tried to hum Jesus loves me but the marshmallows were barely fitting in her mouth as it was! They pushed and shoved as they clambered to come out of her mouth; she too left the stage.

(haha. The wonderfulness of the musical chubby bunny.)
