spine
She rubber her fingers over the spine of the manuscript, wondering, is it good enough? Is this the one she should send out to be read or should it end up tossed into the corner with the others which had become a towering tribute to her own lack of self confidence. The clock is ticking, what’s it going to be?

sandwich
What is the easiest thing to eat for lunch? A sandwich! Turkey and french bread with mayo, mustard, lettuce, wax peppers, salt & pepper but the crowning glory of this sandwich is…bell peppers! They make it taste fresh and crunchy. Oh how I wish I had one now.

destiny
I don’t know if we have a preconceived destiny but I know we have a final destination!

lack
What ever we think about, we magnify so it is important to look at all that we do have in life and not what we lack.

withheld
She withheld her love from him. Not because she didn’t love him but because she did. Too much. Standing beside him made her so nervous the held her breath, so afraid of making a mistake in front of him. She felt he was everything and she was nothing. Just a bit of clay waiting for him to mold her into the perfect woman.

sweep
I love to sweep the kitchen floor. It feels like I am cleaning up my whole world. Even the things that can’t be changed, have the appearance of being under my control and in good condition. In my mind’s eye, for that one moment, everything in my life seems to be neat and tidy.

tea
The tea poured from the slender pot and glistened in the sun as it fell delicately into the fine china tea cup. Not one drop splashed out side of the rim of the cup. No that would not due. Setting tea service and serving is an art. It is your signature, your calling card into polite society. The social standards at the turn of the century, the 1900′s, were firm. A lady had to know her place and it was in the kitchen or serving in the dinning room. A wise women knew her roll in society.

gentle
Be gentle with yourself. Give yourself a break today, all that has past is gone, tomorrow is not here yet. Be in the present with yourself and live in the now. It is all that matters anyway. And do the same for those around you. They are fragile, too.

recall
I can’t recall a time in my life when things were this different. The governments around the world have changed all of the rules. We have so little freedom and don’t seem to notice or mind. We should be picketing in the streets, shutting down the country until it comes to it’s senses. But instead we put our heads down and trudge on to work, just glad to have a job. Or sit in the corner and wonder how to pay the bills and worry that we will be thrown out into the streets. We pray that things will get better, but they won’t, not in any real measure, because we are willing to accept defeat without putting up a battle. God help us all. Amen.

cutout
I think I might like to have a life size cutout of George Clooney in my home. Yes, that is the perfect decorating touch to complete the look I am going for. It says, she has good taste and friends in high places!

mode
I like my new mode of transportation: a zippy, new used car. Small and comfortable, high mileage and cute.

ink
Ink has done more for the world than you would ever imagine. Once ink was invented it allowed people to communicate with each other in different places around the world. Then the next logical step was to inspire readers to go to distant places to see for themselves what the people and places were like that they had read about. Not bad for a mere liquid.

clinic
I once had a problem with my horse and attended a barrel racing clinic. It was great to see so many other people struggling with problems and we all tried to help each other. The teacher was so good with each person and I could see that she really loved her work. It is great to have someone help you when you have no idea how to fix a problem.

balcony
She sat in the balcony and watched as the band played on. What a thrill it is just to watch him playing on stage. So beautiful in her eyes. Each note raising through the air and swirling around her like bubbles in champagne. Each performance was a gift to her.

drop
The drop of water from the early morning dew slid silently into the river below. I don’t know how long it will take to travel down the mountain across the valley then to flow into the sea but I know it will happen, unless it turns to vapor and turns into a cloud above us only to fall somewhere in the world as a drop of water again.

return
Sometimes I wish I could return to a previous time in life, just to make a few corrections. Like go to school and get a degree. Marry my childhood sweetheart earlier. Never let my weight go beyond 3 pounds over my set weight. But just how far back would I have to go to undo all of the wrong that happened?

gravel
Foot steps, muffled by gravel on the road, quickly fell one after the other in the dead of night. Fog rolled slowly over the dell, moving slowly for the castle. A faint light shone from her window, showing the way to the castle. Would her knight arrive at midnight, as promised? If not, tomorrow would be too late to save her from a marriage to stranger and that she could not bear.

give
The sun comes up and gives me hope for a better day. Everyday, I feel that way. It doesn’t matter what yesterday was like, I just want to have a better day than yesterday.

belong
We only belong when we know our own selves. If we look at ourselves from other peoples perspectives then we lose site of who were are. You can’t change yourself to suit every person you meet. Look inside and ask yourself, who am I and what did I come here to do? When you can answer those two questions then you no longer care what others think of you because you are now the leading authority on you. If you see you need to make some changes to make yourself happy then do so, for yourself, not for others. Only then will you have earned your place in the scheme of things, only then will you know you truly belong.

lock
A wise friend of mine once said “A lock only keeps an honest man out”. How true!

middle
I can’t seem to find middle ground where my opinions are concerned. A more mellow perspective is what is needed but it alludes me. Passion becomes fire at some point.

princess
Isn’t there a little bit princess in all of us? The feeling that some day something magical will happen and our lives will be changed forever. The girl will meet her prince and live happily ever after? The boy will marry a girl who takes care of his every need? Well, I don’t think there is anything wrong with hoping for that…

change
The time has come for change. Change by every person and organization, on every level. Without it we can not go on much further. The world needs civility or risk losing everything we know and cherish. I will begin by smiling at the next person I meet and I hope they will smile at the next person they meet.

grapes
When I was 5 my family moved into an old Craftsman style home on 5 acres in the country. In the back, behind the two story pump house was an overgrown thicket of grape vines. My father spent one Saturday with a hatchet hacking through the dense foliage. But when he emerged from there, smiling from ear to ear, he announced that inside was an empty space and that this was once an arbor. We spent the summer out there eating dinner and relaxing. But the best thing was the way the grapes smelled every time I went outside to pick a dark, juicy grape and sit in the swing to savor it. I miss that arbor, 40 years later.
