He shuffled the deck of cards, his hands gracefully performing the practiced motion. I studied them, his hands, wrinkled and worn by the ravages of time. Hard and calloused from growing up too much too fast in an age now long forgotten. Hands whose fragility belied the strength behind them and held a thousand stories in their furrowed lines.
