sticks

There are so many trees, the sticks just pile up. Bend over, pick them up, mow the grass, and the next day the sticks are there again. The poor trees just keep falling apart, bit by bit.

cigarette

Back in those days, when we were kids, we traveled with the windows up and the car filled with cigarette smoke. It was unbearable, but we learned to bear it. None of us ever smoked once we grew up. A lesson learned.

expecting

“I’ve been expecting you,” she says, one hand resting on the side of the doorframe.

“I know,” he replies.

“You’re late,” she tells him, moving from the door to allow him in.

He moves past her into the apartment. “I’m sorry,” he tells her, unapologetically.

chores

I can procrastinate about work I have to do and suddenly the house will be clean and tidy and every job will be done. But if I have nothing to do for work then I will procrastinate with the chores

station

I once played a game where I had 60 seconds to write about the word “station.” It was fun, but when I came back to play again, it gave me the exact same word. Which wasn’t as much fun.

I was standing at the omelette station when she came in. She had a red dress that was completely inappropriate for Sunday Brunch, but that only made her more attractive. The smeared mascara I could have done without, but you know what they say about Vegas.

pretzel

Pretzels are hard with too much salt. Give me bagel or a piece of cake or anything else. Of course the best part about a pretzel is that they are low in fat unlike a bagel or piece of cake so for ones on a diet that might be the best option.

tempted

I was tempted by the fruit of a lover. I liked that song a lot. My right boob is hurting. Sometimes I wonder what’s wrong with me. Sometimes I wonder if the occasionally pulse of pain from the right boob is cancer. And sometimes I wonder if I should have listened to the school nurse after all and bought into the idea of frequent self-examinations.

forgotten

what can be forgotten really, memory is in our blood bone and sinew. It walks with us weighing us down , lifting us up and it colors every sunset and filters every conversation. We are our memories. With out them we are shells , perceptive and seeking new memories without identity and meaning.

vodka

Vomit. I can’t even smell it without thinking of a cold, tile bathroom floor and a stinky toilet. New Years Eve, for example. I have never felt more dead – I had to lie in a snow bank the next day to cool off from the ultimate hangover.

bandana

The guy in the laundry mat had a bandana wrapped around his head. He was kinda scary–maybe a gang member? I wasn’t sure, so I took my wet clothes and moved along. I may have died if I’d gone into that laundry mat–how could I know???

A Fluorescent object is quite a unique type of light. It glows in the dark thanks to incredible technology. We see fluorescent things in objects like alarm clocks, highlighters. They enable us to see in the dark.

Pink. Green. Purple. Toenails. It’s bright and shiny and pretty and sexy. Sunshine. Flowers. Birds. Fish. Mostly the fish are dyed, though. It’s pretty sad. Fluorescence is beautiful.

robot

Am I a robot going through life moving in the same ways, driving in the same directions? Do I veer off course to reveal new exciting challenges or continue in a robot form. I have lived the life of a robot for way too long and it is time to break the wires that bind my routine and go my own path, my own direction.

bookshelf

I need a new bookshelf. I can no longer fit my books on my current shelf. Incidentally, my parents have just bought a new shelf, but my mom wants to use it in the kitchen for pots and pans. It wouldn’t even survive in the kitchen. It’d be better in my room.

On my shelf are books about self. Learning, creating and growing of self. A shelf of self and creative self is now the elf upon my shelf.

success

Is not a big house on the hill or the multiple cars in one garage . Success is friends and family who truly care about you and work that you love doing. Success is the joy on someone’s face that you put there. It is in the intamacy of a relationship that is open. It is where you truly feel at home.

digital

Just because we live in the digital age doesn’t mean we don’t have problems, and fears, and families to look out for. Just because we live in the digital age doesn’t mean we don’t have a place in this world just like the rest of you.
