You’d say that you have common enemies, but the problem is that Adrian *has* no enemies; he’s said so himself, and you believe it. He’s too sweet and earnest and kind-hearted to end on a bad note with someone, still too young and honest to believe that he should have any reason not too.
You feel proud of yourself the first time he punches you, bony knuckles cracking painfully against your jaw.

The salesman walked down the sidewalk, dragging his briefcase along. Eyes down. Feet dragging. He was tired. Tired of the road, tired of his wife nagging about the road, tired of his boss nagging about his numbers. Would he ever not be tired? Just for one twenty-four hour period…he would love to not be tired. How would that feel–to not feel like your life was one long dead-end road? How would it feel to have energy, to be excited about waking up in the morning? Would his heart explode? Maybe. Or..would he revel in it? Or would he ever, ever want to come back? one million, one hundred dollars makes no difference to me. Money is a gift but I will not let it lead my life., I belong to Christ and he is my savior and he is in control. I flexed my muscles in the mirror. Looking, judging. Are they growing? I turn to the side. Flex. Hold. Breathe. Can I do it? Can I make that vein bulge a little more?
