chat

To have a chat with a friend is to chitter and chatter, sometimes about substantial things, often otherwise. Birds chatter too, often too much about nonsense, but then perhaps birds make sense to themselves. I think that having a chat with a friend is crucial, because when you stop talking to people, that’s when you know you’re dead. Things may be full of nonsense, but it’s how you tell someone hey there, I’m here.

grind

My friend and I once went to a dance where there was grinding, and they all looked like they were having fun, so much so that she said, “Someone is going to get pregnant just by dancing!” Oh my gosh, at that time my naive mind could not understand what exactly that meant, but you know some friends are smarter than you and thank God for that.

jelly

Jellyfish once attacked my uncle. It turned red and raw. It was funny. Hahaha! But We didn’t laugh at the time. We were worried and we wondered what to do. I heard he was stuck at home having the most difficult time of his life. And there I was, far away somewhere else, while one of the people I love the most in my life was going through hell.

treaty

Treaties are made between nations to ensure peace and prosperity. It is how they make sure that they are not going to attack one another. It is how they understand one another. Treaties are like agreements after a lover’s quarrel, that yes from now on I will do the dishes and you do the cooking. It is how we live in a world where we cannot understand each other.

emptying

It is in emptying yourself that you find nothing. People cannot be empty. They must be full to the brim and flow out of who they are. They must share their whole selves so that they may also fill the emptiness of others. There cannot be nothing, because everything is something. We cannot give in to despair. There must be no emptiness. There must only be hope.

I was in the room all alone. The door was locked, the house was empty, the lights were off. I took my last sip of coffee and began to cry. Slowly at first and then the tears wouldn’t stop rolling down my face. It felt heavy.

cap

A cap like my grandfather’s is always on his head. It’s as if it defines him, it defined him. You never see him without it outside. It’s to protect his head as well as, probably, to hide the multitude of white hairs that define him as old. He is old, but not useless. He would drive us everywhere and be there whenever we need him. That cap was a sign that he was always ready to go out whenever we need him with us.

reporter

there once was a reporter named john. it was a rainy day. his lunch fell to the ground just as he realized he had no money for food that day. he runs to the van truck with food and sees that the workers decided to cut back on food that day becuase they weren’t doing so well. he runs around looking for something- food money. he asks a camera person for some money. he’s got a dollar. he asks his producer. the producer gives him two quarters. the man is starving. he skipped breakfast that day and dinner last night. the man is shaking. he gets onto a subway, with a metro card and holds up a sign. “Starving man– no food, please help me get something to eat.” he makes jokes, but its no use, he is invisible. “I am a tv reporter! sometimes you see me. please friends, i’m freaking starving. can someone lend me anything just so i can have some braincells to keep going on with my day?” a few quarters roll his way, a dollar here, a dollar there. enough to buy the cheapest sandwich at the grocery deli. “chicken sanwhich please.” “you don’t have enough” says the Indian clerk behind the register. “Anything?” he says with choked up tears. Indian clerk looks around, sighs, and gives him a sandwich. “shhhh”

the reporter bites into his new crappy sandwich. had no interest in this craphole beforehand, but food is food. starving is starving. he leveled down just to get something. and hey, he got it. got it.

Reporters handle the news. Ron Burgundy is a reporter in San Francisco. He kicks ass with his trusty news team at his side. Ron Burgundy is king! Duh….

“WATCH YOUR BACKS! The pipes can blow at any minute!” Screamed the foreman.

“Sir! We’re doing everything we can! There’s no way to contain the explosion!”

fixed

When I think about this word, I think of the negative connotation. I think of something being “fixed” as in a fixed race or a fixed lottery. It’s something that is intervened upon. It’s something dishonest. Something ugly and unnatural. I fixed the race and won a million dollars.

sweat

It means that work is being done. It means someone is alive and using life to do something being physical or mental that is strain but the effort is worth it. Sweat reminds you that alll the effort you put into something was worth it if just for the satisfaction of seeing it finished.

conceal

Keep hidden, shy, hide, to know something that others don’t. A secret place full of treasures or guilty secrets. Stealth, knowingly holding back on something important.

downpour

Sometimes the rain comes down and it feels like its the worst thing that could happen. But right in the middle of it when you’re staring up asking why, you realize that its exactly what you needed and nothing else really matters anymore. Thats why I love the rain.

morality

Some people like to eat fried foods. Some people like to throw fried foods away. Some people like to tickle each other. Some people like to wander around the earth alone. And then there are those who would punch you in the face, steal your money and your clothes. That’s not cool.
