obvious
It was obvious then. Her deepest desire hung in the air like the thickest fog she had ever seen. The older girl took a single step back, clearing her throat. Her shorter and younger friend stepped forward, that glint in her clear blue eyes. “I can’t…” “Why? Why can’t you?” “I just…” Her words were cut off as lips captured her own.

escape
It was then, she decided, she would make her escape. She would use the butter knife she was given at meals, and pick her way through the cement. The cool summer sun splashed across her pale features as she began to run, her feet pounding the ground, the sound of dogs in her ears.

cross
Her necklace was in the shape of a cross, that much I do recall about her. She lowered herself down, kissing me sensually, the golden cross pendant tickling my collar bone, yet all I could think of was the fact I had someone waiting for me at home. I pushed her away, picked up my dress from the floor, and left her small apartment. I finally realized what I had been missing was curled up in my bed, waiting for me.

fences
The fences were built to protect us from them, or perhaps protect them from us. They were built long before our time, and thus, we could easily have ignored the ancient superstitions. We didn’t. Now, the people from both sides of the fences are chomping at the bit.You know what they have always said: the grass is always greener on the other side. War is imminent. This is why the fences were built in the first place.

decorated
The soldiers casket was brought forth; the lid open to reveal his brightly decorated uniform, his eyes closed for an eternity.

miles
IT had been miles since they stopped. She slammed the door, their ride abnormally quiet after her lover had asked again about the affair she had had. She was sick of the questions, of the distrustful looks. Forgive and forget, how hard was that?

near
I was near to tears then, when she left me. I knew I would begin to feel the steady creep of loneliness into my blood as she loaded her bags into the car we bought together, leaving behind the house we bought with our blood. I hope she knows I love her still.

made
It was then, they said, that men were made. In the battle field, the true test of courage. They had been told throughout their training that they wouldn’t know if they were man enough until they felt the bullets whizzing past their ears.

lens
The lens of the camera hit the floor with a sickening crack. The room was silent as the camera man bent to retrieve his lost possession, all eyes turning from his interruption back to the arguing couple at the alter. A woman in white standing beside a man in black, a woman dressed ina leather jacket standing in front of them. “Come home with me! I love you far too much to watch you marry him!” “Then don’t watch!” The woman in white screamed, turning back around to signal an end to the conversation, leaving the leather-clad woman to turn and walk away.

lease
The lease was up, their bags packed as they made their way towards their new home. The wind blew about them as they drove with the windows down towards an unknown city. It was an adventure they were both ready to embark on. Life was just beginning.

forgotten
Lost but not forgotten. That’s what she is. A lost memory buried deep within the confines of my aching heart. I miss her, with each day that passes, I long to know what could have happened, what could have been , had she just been like me. Had she been in love with her best friend…Had she had loved me in the way I loved her.

bear
And then, a bear the size of a small minivan came lumbering from the treeline, his eyes staring intently at my PB&J. I did what could be done at that point. I called for Chuck Norris. The bear, deciding no PB&J was worth a battle with the Chuck, ran.

chaos
The chaos subsided around them, the two generals circling each other, swords drawn. It was now or never, despite their past, they could not allow the supposed tyranny to continue. It was the blonde who struck first, her eyes narrowed with her anger at her supposed lover.

mud
She gasped as she hit the mud, the dirty brown liquid splashing onto her white tunic. she looked up, glaring at the taller woman holding the bright silver blade to her throat, her golden armor glinting despite the rain that poured around them. “Did you miss me?” She said with a smirk, raising the sword for the fatal blow.

pawn
It was a clever scheme, none the less. The pawns were just too few, the masters just too many. It was doomed to fail from the beginning, this we knew.

common
It has always been common knowledge, of course, that when a boy gets to be in his teens, he usually calls his father out. A fist fight ensues, and usually the son loses miserably. This time, however, in this family, the son was called out by the daughter, and the daughter handed the son his pride on a platter.
How does it feel?

salute
I throw up a one finger salute to you and your backwards thinking. “Go fuck yourself!” you yell in response, walking down the road in a childish huff. Thinking back, I should have punched you in the nose, showing you that even through you’re taller, I’m not afraid.

trend
This is a trend? To smoke pot while drinking a beer at a high school party. I was never one to follow the in crowd, neither was she. Why are you so different? Why do you do so many things that are wrong? Why are you a dick? Why are you tearing our family apart?!

liar
“You’re a liar!” The words echoed through her head as she walked down the slender backwoods trail. Their fight had lingered in her mind throughout her trip, making it more miserable than leisurely.

velvet
Her lips were like satin as they brushed against the smaller girls neck, her fingers sliding to the place twixt her thighs that had the same light texture as wet velvet. Her gasps soon turned to moans, their legs intertwined, the sheets a tangled heap about the,

beach
I often wonder what it would be like to return there, to the beach we met at. I feel it is impossible to go, to see a silhouette of us both, fresh from high school, and the romance that blossomed between us.

tide
The tide crept up to lick her alabaster ankles, her sandals clutched safely in her left hand. Her right hand held her skirt, keeping them from the waves. Her long curly hair blew in the wind as she muttered a final good bye to her fallen lover.

bleach
She took the bleach in her left had and dumped it over her arms, scrubbing them raw with a rouge sponge. The chemical burned, but still she sobbed, not from the pain in her arms, but from what they man had done. She cried harder still, knowing she’d never be away from his touches or forced caresses again.

revolt
It was then she decided to strike. A revolt against the bitch queen and her cruelties that lacked in contemplation. She held the sparkling sword aloft as she charged, screaming her fathers name, her voice filled with vengeance as she sprinted forth into the unknown vastness of her sisters army.

without
Without you, I am nothing. Without the sea, the wind can not circle the globe, touching the lives of millions as it weaves it way throughout. Without you, I am like that wind, lifeless and useless.

leap
What would it be like to leap from a cloud? To soar through the sky on the wind’s current. What would it be like to have wings, to fly with the birds. To be free. What it be like…to leap?

tower
She sat in the tower, looking down at the ground below. She frowned, watching the people move back and forth about their business. A glimmer of light attracted her attention and she saw a knight dressed in gold armor coming towards the castle. She frowned, someone else coming to court her, to take her from her tower. She walked from the window, planning her escape.

cello
She looked at the cello, running her fingers over the sleek wood, almost as if caressing it. She sat behind it, pulling out her bow, pulling it across the strings, a low moan emitting from her throat at the sound it emitted.

slipper
I slipped my feet into my slippers, groggily shuffling my way to the kitchen, the smell of bacon and eggs filling her nose. She smiled. “Why didn’t you wake me silly girl?” Her girlfriend turned around. “You looked so tired…Are you wearing those silly slippers again?” “Yep” she grinned.

incense
The incense’s smoke filled the room, sending a chill down the blonde’s spine. She had lit candles, placing them around the room creating a sensual atmosphere. Everything was ready, she was ready. She pulled the ring from her pocket, a simple diamond on a gold band. A promise ring. She wanted to marry that brunette, but, alas…
