credibility
It was kind of pointless, asking his girl. She was a liar, and a good one at that. I’d known her for years, and, I’ll tell you, her credibility wasn’t all that great. Let me put it this way, I wouldn’t trust her with my 50 cents

cliffs
No solid way to turn. Fear of imminent failure. Wide open air. Nothing to catch me. Wait. I’m not ready. Let me stay on the cliff.

anchor
Anchor my heart a million times to the oceans skin, and to the sailors breath. Anchor my heart a thousand times to the caverns and trenches that line the earth’s floor. Anchor my heart a hundred times to the tide’s pull and the moons watchful eye. Anchor my heart ten times to swift currents and salty waves. Anchor my heart to that of the oceans and I’ll ride sea over bow to watch it sink.

wheat
I know a lot of people who are allergic to it, which is weird because before I came to Burlington I didn’t even know that was possible. I think fields of wheat look weird and boring but I love the country and that’s where it grows.

boots
My boots have traveled everywhere. From ocean to ocean, sea to sea. Every country one could imagine has been touched by these boots. They’re full of memories, full of dreams.

pained
She smiled,a bitter and pained expression on her once joyful face. It was a smile of someone who had once known happiness, but had it taken away from them.. again and again and again.

truth
The truth was, she was lying. Or was it that she was lying about telling the truth? Either way, no one believed her. She was the girl who cried wolf, and therefore always a liar. Even if it was true, or was it?

i don’t know the truth. the honest truth is i don’t regret anything and i don’t know the truth about you. i know that i want to be deaf and in love with anyone and everything. the truth is i’m not sure if i want to be happy. i just want someone i can be myself around that i don’t have to lie to. i want to do something. anything. that is the truth.

cities
She had lived here for exactly two days, and they were moving again. This city, she never even bothered to learn it’s name. It was just another of the endless cities she was running to. her parents had never stayed in a city for more than a month, so she was used to not having friends, to be alone, to traveling without the hope of ever stopping. So, no, she hadn’t even bother to learn the cities stupid name, she would have just forgotten it anyways.

covert
Covert was probably my favorite word as a child, I heard it one day and thought how perfectly it fit the rest of my life. You see, at the time I was a nine year old girl who was also a ninja, and everything I did, I did in secret. My mission was to save the world, and to climb this tree… and to swing across the lake of fire by this skinny old rope, but no one could know because it was all covert, my secret. Now at sixteen, it’s still the perfect word. No one needs to know about me, my mission in life is my own. Parents, friends, siblings, teachers… they know nothing about my mission. Covert is the perfect word.

blasted
The boom shook the house and I screamed as my mother cried out, “get into the cellar, kids!” I grabbed my little brother’s hand and rushed into the kitchen, down where the bombs couldn’t reach us… hopefully. As another bomb blasted in the street, I held my brother tightly and prayed that it would be over soon. Another blast, and I realized our house had been hit. At first I was relieved it hadn’t reached the cellar, but then another though occurred. Tears pooled in my eyes as I frantically searched the small room and whispered somewhat hysterically, “mom….?”

eternal
There was nothing there, just endless darkness. It went on and on and on… I couldn’t see the end of it. It was quite terrifying, to be honest, but I didn’t admit it out loud. I shut the door and faked a smile. “Well,” I said, “Let’s look for something else.”

director
He closed his eyes and screamed out “Cut!” The scene was horrible, the actors nothing more than childish imitators waiting to be told what to do. God Forbid, if they could just act a little better, he could make it work, but no, it was hopeless, the director sighed, “try again…for the tenth time” Maybe, just maybe his job would be worth while in this take…

withered
There is a vase on my window sill. It is a little cracked. There are dry flowers in it, because I didn’t put in the water like I usually do once a week. Because my grandmother died, so these flowers should too.

weakling
I am not a weakling. But I really kind of am. It’s sad, watching kids get picked on. Just hoping that you won’t be the one It’s survival of the fittest Something we know as best as children If you are a weakling, do something about it.

cave
He should never have let it happen, but he caved. And now- as he sits by her side, holding her hand and struggling to keep a brave face- he regrets it so, so much. Tears are streaming down her cheeks; she’s scared- but not half as scared as he is. He’s more afraid that he has ever been in his entire life. His daughter was dying, and it was because of his failure. Yes, he blames himself. He can’t help but think that if he were more present, if he were firmer, if he had kept close tabs on the people his little girl made friends with, she’d have never had gone out that night and gotten drunk. She wouldn’t have gotten behind the wheel of the old, beaten car he’d saved up to buy her for her 16th birthday, which seems now like it was just yesterday. She wouldn’t have careened off the road and crashed. But, he caved.

When I was little I used to wake up early in the mornings and stay in bed studying the folds of my comforters. I made each dip a little cave and would put my eyes way up close and the shadows became deep and dark and the humid summer air was cool again.

cool
A cool kid rolled down the street with a smug look on his face. He just asked Lacy out on a date. She was so pretty, and he couldn’t wait. All the boys wanted her and he won, she was going to be his. His bike wheels squeaked as he arrived home, his mom passed out in the yard once again.

speak
Speak the words, nevermind the consequences. You think too much, it isn’t a debate, no one’s a judge. Those words are the only thing with the power and you just won’t let them wield it. So speak.

musical
i used to think that musicals were extremely boring and stupid. I absolutely hated watching them. I took a few choir classes and I think after watching the movie Grease I came to appreciate them a lot more. I find them entertaining now, I feel due to maturing.

choose
Don’t ask me to choose. I don’t know what the road will bring in the future, and choosing the wrong fork could mean certain death, or it could mean eternal life. Choosing would be easier if it weren’t a choice at all. If someone would shove me into my choices, I would be forever grateful.

I think of something being presented in a presentation. Last week we had an interesting presentation at the office Christmas party. I don’t particularly like presentations, at least if I am the one having to give them. Which is my job sometimes. I gave a presentation last week to my peers also. It
