rocket
Rocket. A rocket to the moon. Something little kids dream of all the time. They could fly that rocket into the sky and see the stars. The planets. The aliens they wish were out there. Are we all so grown that we’ve abandoned the dream? To fly on a rocket within the stars?

solved
“Solved!” He shouted, dropping his pen in victory. No one listened though, only the instructor, for if he was wrong, they still had a chance and should they stop then they would be giving up a large advantage. “Not this time.” she said, flipping his page over and walking away. “Try again.” “Oh… Not solved.” he muttered, biting his lip and picking his pen up again. “Just a second, I’ve got this.” “SOLVED!” a young girl shouted from across the room. The instructor made her way over and picked up the paper. “Solved.” she agreed with a nod, and everyone stopped. Was it possible? Had the young girl really solved their problem?

furnace
The furnace was acting strangely, she thought while cleaning. It didn’t usually make noises like that did it? Concerned she walked a bit closer and listened for a moment. She reached forward and tapped it. The angry noises increased. Was there a leak or something? She had no experience in this department, what was she supposed to do? “Crap.” she said when the flames suddenly began to spread.

sidetracked
This is a word that I can identify with so easily. I get sidetracked so often. One second you are doing something so simple, like walking a plate back to the kitchen and the next you may find yourself reading or doing a load of laundry because you picked up a book along the way to put it back or your shirt that you want to wear tomorrow. The focus it takes to remove the ability to become sidetracked from your mind is nearly impossible to achieve, unless you are trying for short periods of time. Then again, many people look at getting sidetracked as a negative thing, however, it does mean that you almost never get bored. And you learn to ignore all the unfinished things you have started. You finish them another day, getting sidetracked from one to the next.

spider
The spider is such a weird little bug. So interesting and creepy at the same time. I know plenty of people who are terrified enough of them to want to run screaming every time one is spotted. Personally though, when I see the word the only thing I can think of is… Hover Spider! I was trimming a bush once outside our old house, and after taking a limb off and revealing a bit of the trunk, I saw this spider. It was so bizarre. Every time it moved it seemed to, well, to hover. You never saw its legs move. Creepiest weird little bug ever.

sports
Sports are a way to channel aggression. Seems to be the way men have communicated for the longest time. People bond over cheering for their teams, going to see them play. They are a wonderful way to start a love of physical activity at a young age. Sports are really very necessary to a society.

phrase
There is always a phase… the one you hear that triggers all those mixed emotions. The one you used to hear people say all the time? Maybe you’ve even said it a time or two. But then you hear it again, from someone new. And the feelings are all there… just more intense because it’s new. And there is so much hate for it now.

notice
I never notice the things that count. The small things. Like the color of his hair in the sunlight. Or the way his mouth just barely twitches in a smile when he sees our childs face. I never notice the way his fingers brush against the back of my hand while he holds me at night. And now… I’ll never notice any of those things again. Maybe I should have told him that I did notice. He thinks I never did. I may as well not have. The small things are so precious when noticed though.

route
Where am I? What should I do? They gave me this route to follow but I didn’t listen. I never listen. I’m so lost. Where do I go? A sign? Anything? Nothing comes alone. I should have followed their route. Listened to their wisdom. I should have known… they must have learned from experience as well.

bubbles
They rise into the air like Hopes, dreams, childhood Evaporate like time and clouds Don’t you wish you could eat them? Taste the effervescence Om nom nom But bitter and not sweet Like the failed attempt Your eating bubbles was…
Unless they’re grape flavored.

A slipper something you wear on your freezing feet because your dad says heat cost too much money and he is always hot. There warm and squishy and everybody loves them. Uggs or fake uggs sometimes replace them but some people perfer socks.

collision
the first car crash i ever got in was when I was 16. five days after i turned 16, in fact. i was driving my dad’s corvette to school because my mom needed my (very sturdy) volvo to go to work, and she was afraid of the corvette not working. I was dumb, made a sliiiightly illegal turn, ran into a huge truck, and well, the rest is fiberglass history :(
