classic
Disney’s classics. He loved them. Along with the colour purple, his car, and his ex. It was the last one that held her back.

whiskers
His whiskers twitched. He knew I was lying. “Really, I’m fine!” I insisted. “God, what is wrong with me. I’m talking to my cat.”

seat
“Please, have a seat.” The officer gestured to the uncomfortable looking seat facing the mirrored wall. “I assume you know what this is about so let’s skip the formalities and get on with it. Where were you on the night of October 31, 2009?” His mind flashed back to the events of that horrible night and he fought not to break down and confess, it hadn’t even been his idea. He was guilty though, as guilty as the guy who planned it. “I was at home.” “Can anyone confirm this?” “No.” And so he continued to string the web of lies that began on Halloween night.

tallest
He was tall. Always the tallest in the room. I loved that about him. It was different, unique. Freakish, even. For him, it worked.

motel
She laid still in the motel bed, paralyzed with fear. It had sounded like nails scratching on wood. Was it coming from the door? No, it had been closer than that. Under the bed? Defeaned by the pounding of her heart, she leaned slowly over the edge of the bed.
