sure
I say this a lot. “Hey, Abby, can you bring me this?” “Sure!” I reply; I should just say, ‘Yes’ or ‘I’d be happy to.’ And then there are the moments that are not so perfect: “Thank you,” I hear him say as I hand over the papers to my boss. Say ‘you’re welcome, just say you’re welcome’ I repeat in my head, but in reality my mouth opens and I respond in one simple word. “Sure.”

major
She sat there staring blankly into the computer screen, her eyes focused in on the blinking cursor, until she eventually turned her computer off and left the room.

teeth
I was finishing up in my dressing room when I brushed my hair back behind my ears and that’s when I noticed teeth marks on the side of my neck. Teeth marks! I couldn’t believe what had happened.

blindness
I got up today knowing you were going to call. Knowing I was going to see you. I was going to be happy. The hours went by and nothing was heard, no ring, no text, silent. My heart broke a little knowing you were too busy to even tell me why.

stillness
I stood there without a word, without a blink, without being able to breathe, just staring at him. My mind was circling around trying to find something to say, or something to do, but couldn’t stop. Thoughts were spiraling out of control while I stood in the stillness of the dark, motionless…

side
Who’s side do you take? Do you take your friends’ side even though you know they are in the wrong? Or do you do something about it?

comfort
Comfort is so important to me. If I can’t find that in my friends or family, then my shoes and my bed have to be comfortable. A good nights rest in a comfortable bed and wake up walking in comfortable shoes= a happy me. :)

You know e-vent. It’s like venting to a person but online. Like e-mail and mail.

want
I don’t want you to need me, I want you to want me. Is that so much to ask? But you don’t have to want me. Just because that’s what I want, it doesn’t have to be what you want. I want you to be happy, just as I want to be happy myself. So tell me, what is it that you want?

substances
I erased it, each time I would look at the word it turned into something else, and finally I took a breathe stopped after the bell and re-re-read the word, and my mind is blank. Sending…

dare
Have you ever played truth or dare? It can be a fun game if you have the right people and the dares around too scandalous. But you can get to know people in a fun way too if they choose to answer something truthfully. Playing truth or dare is kind of lame, if you’re a kid, you don’t really know what to ask, and the dare is something I would have done anyway. But when you play the game as an adult, well, I’m sure you know how that goes…

key
“Run!” She screamed. Dropping my bag I bolted toward the house as if I was being chased. I never ran so fast in my life! I pulled out my keys and rattled through each one, looking for the one that fit. My hands shaking, and my chest aching from all the commotion, I knew time was limited. One last key to try, but the whole thing slipped through my fingers, crashing to the brick floors of the door step. The footsteps grew louder and I bent to pick up the keys. His arms wrapped around me holding me from any movement. As he tickled me I knew he had won. I couldn’t stop laughing; I was laughing so hard liquid filled my eyes, and ran down my cheeks. I thought I was going to pee my pants too, until I saw a blurry figure running up beside him. I prayed it was Jessica, I heard the keys being grabbed off the floor and the door finally open. “Seriously Ben, stop!” She demanded. With that, he released me. I ran inside quickly. And heard the door slam shut.

secret
Can I trust you? I have something to tell you, something I have not told a soul! Something so special that I don’t know if I should invite you to be a part of. It’s a secret. It’s something that I have kept to myself all this time, and if you promise not to tell…

trap
I knew that I would feel trapped here, I turned on the computer and it was as if I could not escape the gossip the tabloids everyone everywhere were talking about it. It was news everywhere. It was a nightmare, and there was no escape!

props
I give her props, I said to myself. I waited to see if anyone heard me before I realized I said it in my head. Then I repeated out loud. “I give her props.” My friend agreed, “That was a bold move, but I am glad she did it.” “Me too.” I said.

gum
Sitting in class, while I tried to prop my head up with the palm of my hands so that if I did, at least, close my eyes, no one would suspect too much. I sat there while I felt my head become too heavy to support. I decided to lean back and set my hands in my lap, maybe if I had something supported my back, I could control my exhausted eyes from closing all the way. Just as my eyes had started to glaze over I heard the bell ring; startling me, my hands shook and hit the bottom of the desk. Gross! I thought, I had just touched someones stale gum.

suspects
I waited in the room with the double sided mirror as each of the suspects came. I watched each person carefully, the way they entered, where they placed their hands, the way their mouths moved to speak. Each and every little motion, and every move was being watched and analyzed by the detectives and myself.

stretcher
I worked out a lot today I heard something in my hip pop. My trainer laughed and said, “good, you’re making progress.” Was she kidding? They always say listen to your body. My body was not having a pleasant day. I could be wheeled out on a stretcher for all she knows and even then she’ll probably think I made progress.

sonar
Sometimes I wish I was dolphin, it would be pretty neat to swim and dive and do it all gracefully and beautifully. Then of course there’s the bad part about being a dolphin. The poor guys get brutally killed for their meat in other parts of the world. Did you know that Dolphin meat is actually high in cholesterol. So if you happen to be someone who knows someone, who knows someone, who knows someone who is associated with that type of illegal act. Then you may want to pass that along. There was a documentary film about it all! Respect Dolphins!

doorknob
I thought about opening the door myself. All I had to do was twist the doorknob. But I couldn’t. I couldn’t bring myself to do it. I stared at it for a few seconds, and gave up. Thinking if he wanted, if he really wanted me, he’d come out himself. I waited for a moment longer, and then walked away.

bandages
Once the bandages were removed I was able to finally open my eyes, and see my face for the first time in months. The scars were intense, but the doctors promised that they would be minimal after the whole process was complete.

adviser
“My adviser advised me not to speak officer.” ”You mean your lawyer.” “Does it matter?” I asked. “Are you being smart with me?” He asked me. “No officer, I am just doing what I am told. Am I free to leave now?” He nodded his head, but watched intently as I picked up my belongings and walked away.

suggestion
The suggestions he made, made me feel uncomfortable. I watched him move his hands up and down as if he was ‘teaching’ me something. I knew this was wrong, but I had just gotten the job, and I wasn’t yet ready to risk losing it, by reporting him.

turbine
first thing to come to mind was to look it up! So this is what I found: tur·bine n. a machine in which a moving fluid such as steam acts upon the blades of a rotor to produce rotational motion that can be transformed to electrical or mechanical power.

bucket
the silver bucket had fallen over, the milk spilled leaking onto the grass. The dirt was darkened in that area, and flies were circling around the bucket. The animals were gone, only footprints were left.

overalls
Rushing to flush the toilet I turn around looking for the last strap of my overalls. Quickly I snap it back in and open the door to meet my friend at the sink. She looks at me with a puzzling expression before asking, “what happened?” I look back at her just as confused. She points to the left strap of my overalls and I see it has been soaked. Oh my God! I think to myself, how embarrassing. It must have fell in the toilet as I was searching for the strap. “Oh, I, uh… I think my mom bleached it.” I replied while reaching for the soap. She didn’t seem to buy that. I reached for a paper towel and grabbed my back pack from her, thinking of something new to talk about while we walked to class.

detention
I stared at the clock, it was as if it was broken because I was staring and staring and nothing was happening. I must have glared at it for 30 minutes and yet no movement. I looked over and a kid was carving letters into the brown wooden desk. Another girl was chewing gum and texting. I just looked back at the clock and still had another 29 minutes left.
