end

Where do I begin talking about the end? That’s half the problem. You can’t start at the end. You always end with the end. All this middle part, that’s not the end. And how do you know where exactly the end IS? Exactly. You don’t. It could pop up at anytime, without you realising. And that’s what I don’t like about the end. It’s not very predictable.

satisfy

Hunger is the need to fully satisfy one’s desire for food. Food of a unique and wondrous complexity. I am hungry and as soon as I’m done with this sentence I will satisfy my hunger

combine

When you combine two people together, you create one magnificent whole being that can accomplish double the goals of a single person. When you combine two objects, you generally get a better object. Sometimes, when you combine two different foods, however, you end up with a much worse and stranger concoction.

breath

In out, Left right, Up down. Run away before they catch you, or else. Your breath is thin, your mind is blank, you run and run as your lose yourself. The sirens go off, the the gun shots are fired And you fall, just as you last breath ends.

afraid

I woke up afraid the other day. I didn’t know why or of what, but I felt the fear. The next thoughts that came were a quick sense of panic. Then I realized that anything I had to fear wasn’t real. It was my mind creating false visions of a world that didn’t exist.

fried

I can’t begin to describe the feeling. Fried. The moment when all the work you’ve done over the past days doesn’t feel worth it. It can’t be worth the horrible feeling and the stress of knowing your brain is turning against you in a swift moment. You feel like the food you eat. Fries or chicken.

A child being born against all odds is a miracle. Plain and simple. Parents carry these children for agonizing amounts of time having professionals tell them they are not well. Parents don’t care they love it anyhow.

half

HAlf my life gone. Maybe. I can never really be sure until it’s over. It feels like half. Like i only have a little more, but enough. Enough to make a difference. Start the better half of your life now.

icing

When I see the cake the icing is shimmering off the top of the splendid wonder. As it is brought down the isle and towards the oncoming consumers glows off the glare of the sunlight through the windows. It is placed on the table as the crowds look with awe.

doorknob

The doorknob led to places unknown. The house was warm and safe and known. The brass knob was cold to the touch. Like the snow outside that chilled Johnny to the bone. Yet something dragged him to the door, some promise of freedom that he never enjoyed.

“What a doorknob!” exclaimed Sally as Richard walked right into the unforgiving metal pole. As usual, Richard’s mind was lost in thought somewhere else, and his body paid the price.

bandages

Bandages. His leg was covered in them. Tan. Large. Soaked in blood and you could tell the bandages were not enough. You saw the hurt in his eyes, an animal-like pain, not quite knowing death but knowing he was close to it.

adviser

Somebody who’s been there. Hopefully a mentor, a coach. Everybody is an adviser, but not everybody can be the adviser you need. Sometimes, the adviser you want is not the adviser you need. You are your own best adviser. Somehow you always know best. It might just take somebody else to point that out for you.

turbine

The turbine was grey. Lashed against the green landscape, so blatantly out of place. But there was a certain beauty in its workmanship, it gave the people of the valley energy. So it was ugly grey and power or bright green and candles.

trunk

Junk in the trunk. Elephant trunk. I used to have an elephant stuffed animal. It had one of those noisemakers in it, so that when you shook it, it would squeal. His name was Henry.

pastel

Uhg. Unless of course you mean the media and not the color range. Then, pastels are pretty cool; but dry pastels, not oil pastels; those those are just too messy.

duration

For the duration of the concert I was rather uncomfortable. The warm, humid air rising on the mass of humanity surrounding me. The random toe crunching misstep of the dancing people. I swore I’d never go to another show again.

medical

Medical people have been really leading me a merry chase. It turns out that much of the advice they have given me isn’t strictly true, and certainly not often in my best interests. Overall, my trust in the medical profession has been eroded lately.

balloon

A balloon is something of a miracle. It flies because helium is lighter than air, which to be honest, I’ve never been able to wrap my head fully around. Balloons remind me of the Wizard of Oz, and his failed exodus from Oz. Bright, colourful balloons are something of a floating symbol for hope, easily lost if we’re not careful about holding on.

ants

I don’t know a whole lot about ants. I know that they survive by working as a team, and that they are governed by a queen matriarch. There are worker ants, soldier ants, and probably other types of ants as well. I tend to get my ant facts confused with my bee facts.

patent

This comes after somebody invents something. Eli Whitney patented the cotton gin. Patent reminds me of the word patience. Patents are hard to come by and only stick around for a little while. I don’t know much about them and I wish I did.

scout

the man and his partner walked towards the north side of the ridge. It was hot out that day and they were tired from the day’s trek. Portnoy, a healthy man of 37, had with him his nikon camera;the one his father had given before he passed away, dangling precariously from his neck. One step off balance and the half century old device with which he makes his living using goes to pieces. The man he hired to help him scout was “koutche”, a young fisherman who lived in the more populated part of the county, for a mere 500 francs koutche would accompany any paying party out into the bush.
