  11. Friendly or stinging, the bee always interested Annabelle. As a child, she watched them buzzing peacefully on summer days. Flower to flower. Happy as can be. She wondered what it would be like to be a bee. To have one duty and to focus on it and nothing else. If a human came near, she would die for that duty. Her duty for her queen. She would sting until she died.

  12. what is a bee? an insect. They used to say that it was scientifically impossible for bees to fly. They lied about it. If you will. Thats crazy. What didthey used to think that they now know is wrong? What do we think now that we will know is wrong?
What can be known surely in this world? Existentialism exists for a reason. The world is hard to fathom.

Always a Sherlock Holmes fan, now I get to enjoy him again as a supporting figure to the wonderful Mary Russell, who’s perhaps a little too perfect in her feminism, especially for the 1920’s, but maybe I don’t know as much as I think I do about that time. Anyway, it’s a wonderful book.

  20. Bee. Becca Bee. A nickname I was once given my someone who meant and still means a lot to me. I am trying to release the meaning from this person. I do not want to be attached any longer, but it isnt that simple. People say things and make it sound so easy, like I can just open my hand and drop something I loved. But it isnt that easy, SURPRISE. I know. I become frustrated, and sad. Emotions rush through my mind. A simple word. Bee. You wouldnt ever expect so much emotion to come out of three letters, would you?

  33. They told Kent that he couldn’t do it. His schoolmates, his teachers, even his best friend Pete tried to warn him that it was physically impossible. He couldn’t fly. But that didn’t stop him from putting on his black and yellow striped bee suit. He strapped on his gossamer wings. He climbed up on the top of the clock tower and jumped. Flapping furiously, Kent flew for approximately 2.3 seconds before cracking the concrete below. He walked home, and his Ma giggled at his broken antennae. “Now Clark,” she said, “when you stop growing, then I’ll make you a nice blue costume with a big red ‘S.’ Until then, try to refrain from flying. And no more bee suits.”
