  1. She had the most exquisite hair I had ever seen. Long and blonde, it fell into her face in a cascade of platinum — or, would have, had it not been tied into an indelicate braid. It made her seem much more humble, homely almost, than someone of the aristocracy. Certainly more humble than I had ever seen her before.

  2. A braid can be something that can be seen in hair or in ropes. It can be seen anywhere that combines strands of anything. I think that beyond being just a braid, the braid symbolizes unity. It unites three (or more) pieces together.

  3. Her hair hung down her back in one long braid. The handle of her sword disrupted the flow of her hair. She clutched her revolver firmly and pointed it straight at me.

  13. Angela sat down in front of her, so she could begin. “Thanks Sheril, I really am excited for them”. Sheril smiled. She’d always wanted to give Angela braids, she’d just never had the time to until now. As she began the braids she thought of all the things she loved in the world. Her mother, sister, flowers, the rain , and Angela. Angela had been her friend for years and anything she wanted, if Sheril could, she gave.

  15. when I was little my mom would braid my hair. They weren’t the cute little braids that you would see on those black girl at home perm boxes, they were the type of braids that stuck up, they stuck out, they stuck left they stuck right, they were not cute. I did, however, love those barrettes.

  16. A braid is an interesting thing. All of the strands are twined together in a long rope. In a way, a braid can represent the time everyone spends together – the longer we live, the more our lives twist and curl around eachother. Life together is a braid. Its pretty.

  17. A long braid, falling down her back. Making a stripe in the center of her plaid jacket.
Warm against the cool night. wind warm, but blowing swirling around her face. And lose hairs tickle her cheeks. The moon smiling down on her, as she sat staring out over the lake.

  18. My grandmother used to braid my hair as a kid. I used to love it, although sometimes it would hurt because she pulled on my hair so hard, but I would never make a sound, I’d just sit there and wait until it was over. They always looked so pretty. It was hard when she passed away. I always wonder how different things would be if she was still around. How different the people around me would be, how different I would be.

  19. there’s complexities and levels. Grieving is never clear cut. Mourning can’t be worn as a flat ironed hair do. Instead we weave together the components that death entails forming a most beautiful braid adorned only by those who have truly lost something.

  20. braid, it takes you back to elementary school. to the girl with the ribbon in her hair who checked everything twice and everybody loved her. but no one really knew her. that braid was more than just a hairstyle. it showed how she was keeping a facade, with everything in place, that distanced her from the world.

  21. A golden braid. Everything is connected in an eternal golden braid. That wording is from the title of a book I haven’t read, but it’s the first thing I thought of and took hold so strongly I couldn’t write or think about anything else.

  22. “Mommy, are you done yet?”
The little girl was wearing a little white dress with puffy ruffles at the sleeves. She was going to be a flower girl on her mother’s best friend’s wedding.
“Yes, dear. Just a little bit more.” The mother said soothingly, her fingers working on her daughter’s braid. Her hair was long and smooth, dark brown like her’s. Upon reaching the final loop, she tied it up with a silky white ribbon to match her dress.
“There.” Her daughter stood up from the stool that she was sitting on and looked at herself. “You look pretty.”
She smiled at her and said a quick thanks before grabbing the basket of pink petals. The mother watched her daughter as she traipsed outside of the room, her long braid trailing behind.

  23. Your braid. God. It was so long, so blonde. So you.

I know what you’re thinking, how can a braid be you?

    I just don’t know, becky, I just don’t.

Maybe because it was free, flowing, beautiful, contained. Maybe because they always reminded me of you. They still do.

  25. braids look nice and are specially good during summer, they help keep hair in place so it looks nice and collects all the hair for the heat not to bother so much. also at the beach the hair doesn’t get as messy. They are multifunction. Look good on casual wear and for the office. They are lots of different braids you can make so it never gets boring and you can always get a new hair style.

  26. i remember the little girls in ASP would braid my hair, for hours they would run their fingers through my curly locks, i loved it. It was the most relaxing feeling ever. But there was always a bad repercussion. My mom would freak out and yell because they messed up my hair, making it into a curly ball of doom.

  35. Braid. One single braid can be symbolic, or metaphorical. Its not just hair, its a pattern, a technique. Its an in-depth thing. Not simple, but quite complex. What a wonderful word.

  36. Her hair was tightly woven, I watched her watch the merchant raise his hands over the assorted fruits as he tried to up the price of their worth. It was obvious that most of them were worth nothing more then a few copper pieces, but still she seemed tempted enough to pay more then a few silver pieces.

  37. This is a dumb topic, but okay. I don’t really know how to make a good braid, and I blame my paper thin, soft, shiny hair for that because a braid will never stay. Braids do make me think of Lil Wayne though, so that’s a good thing right? Other than that, I have nothing memorable to say.

  38. Super trendy right now. Especially the front swoop across the face one, that a lot of bridesmaids are getting for up-dos. This is dumb. That’s all.
