  5. The had got rid of the old theatre, Manny’s books, and the drugstore, so that the street could be widened into its present state.

  6. In Mafia films you always see them referring to their women as “broads”. They’re not fat (although they might be later in life after all the comfort eating of pasta when their husbands are out on jobs) so why the word “broad”? I’d be quite offended if this was the word someone used to describe me!

  9. Broad in the road and wide is the gate that lead to life and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow is the road that lead to life and only a few find it. (Jesus’s sermon on the mountain)

  10. shoulders are broad, and so are boats. Are boats like a man’s shoulders? HM? This is a question I’ve never considered. Other broad thoughts that come to mind, are broad thoughts. When someone is not

  11. I stared across the broad expanse. The ocean simply shouted, “Power. Power. Power.” It was one moving, massive force… graceful, yet silently strong.

That imagery stayed in my mind even after we left Gulf Shores, Alabama. And it makes me happy even now. :D

  12. It was like a epic dream gone wrong. I wasn’t sure whether to embrace the mess before me, or the clean it up like any other person would. However, I continued to stand there still. unmoving- my eyes roaming and raving at the broad epitome of human existence that laid our before me, ready for dissection. Slowly, I cut down the middle of the mass with my scalpel, careful not to nick any passing veins or precious organs that barely functioned previously. Gently, i pulled back the tissue and reached for my notebook. Scribbling down notes furiously, i barely managed to notice a piece missing from the jigsaw- a child’s worst nightmare. I couldn’t already feel my eyebrows knitting themselves together, my tongue sticking out between my teeth. Why only a heart was necessary to fix this poor sucker. Too bad after the last civil war- they become rare and almost on the verge of extinction. The key word here being almost… ~

  13. He’s strong and beautiful; all muscles and broad, flat plains of skin she wants to touch and touch and touch–and if he lets her, she will. Oh, she doesn’t think she could stop herself even if she wanted to, because he’s her drug, and she loves it; she’s addicted, and she doesn’t want to give him up; not the taste of his lips, or the way he bites at her neck, or the way he winds his fingers in her hair and tugs so hard her head feels dizzy.

Not the way he kisses her like he’s drowning.

He’s beautiful, even with his finger on the trigger of a gun–he’s beautiful, even as she stares up at him through the barrel. He’s beautiful, she realises, even she splatters crimson and bloody across the wastelands of New York City.

  14. The country, the society that I live in are very narrow minded. They refuse to open up their minds and understand the reality of the situations. If they broaden their minds, they will be able to understand that people around them aren’t so bad.

  16. Overlapping the minimum do we meet, textures layered over singular edge. One venn diagram affixes two spheres of halves or thirds of counterparts. As I retract, expand, and respire, the liminal fades, ceasing to define. The sticky circumference of your protective film is pierced; the expanses of our plains are welded.

  17. You’re painting
    dem broads
    with a broad brush
    which is always a risk.

    Assuming that someone
    would always want to prioritize
    her civil rights
    over everything else
    will get you in trouble.

  18. I remember the exact words I had though: I want to study abroad.
At first I had no idea what the hell to do to achieve this spontaneous goal, but I shrugged it off as an obstacle I would find out how to overcome. And now, standing here in Italy, the old buildings looming over me while people speaking in Italian and English bustle about around me feels surreal. The golden daylight illuminates the alleyways and the open market places, shining on tourists and locals.

  19. The heavy steel broadsword slowly raised higher and higher. “This is it. T’was a good life, I suppose.” Thought the man on the execution block as he looked back to all that’s happened in his life. The difficult childhood, the introduction into the tight-knit group of pickpockets and thieves, the barn he called home, and his quest for vengeance fulfilled. Then the broadsword began its decent, and time seemed to slow. The man braced himself for the coming blow. He did not beg for his life, nor attempt to escape. He had accepted his fate.

    Yet Fate had other plans.

Right before the blade hit his neck, a deep, strangely familiar thrum was heard by everyone in the square where the execution was held, and a black-shafted crossbow bolt buried itself within the hilt of the executioner’s sword, knocking it back by several meters.
