  1. Put the tips of your fingers together, just the tips, and then press your lips to them, like you’re making an offering. Like you’re promising something to someone up above (maybe down below) and then set yourself on fire with possibility. Bring what can be into focus and let your mind wander as you go free.
Start singing. Start laughing. Start breathing again, because it’s time to accept that finally, you’re free.

  2. “In Zelebrationem wonibum kanonem.”

  16. There was a big party going on in the other room. You wonder why you aren’t inside, laughing and celebrating with the others. Well, it’s not so much a celebration, but a huge get-together with friends. And there it is, the truth smacks you in the face. Hard. Are they your friends? Aren’t friends supposed to be people you don’t feel awkward around? It seems as if every second you spend with them is a second wasted in awkwardness. So now, here you are, sitting alone outside a room full of “friends”, and you feel the least awkward you’ve felt in ages. It’s liberating.

  22. Some things are celebrated with a smile, others with a laugh.
some things are celebrated with a cry, others with a sob.
Still others are simply celebrated. Some aren’t celebrated at all.
And still I wonder… why am I trying to write poetry on a time limit, when I don’t know poetry? I don’t even know what rhymes with ‘sob’ though there’s probably ten other words in the English language that do. And so on and so forth.
    It’s kind of weird.

The floor was damp and sticky, covered in popped balloons and left-over cake. I looked up at Katie as she sat there, head in hands, sobbing uncontrollably. Her friends attempts to comfort her didn’t seem to be helping much.

I thought about saying good-bye, but, it wouldn’t help. Part of me is glad the Police are taking me away from here. There’s not much left to celebrate now anyway.
