So now, here you are, sitting alone outside a room full of “friends”, and you feel the least awkward you’ve felt in ages. It’s liberating.

birthday parties, fun and games, celebrating achievements and success. Balloons, champagne, mini pies and lemonade! When you’ve passed an exam, or performed a speech in front of millions – its your turn to celebrate!

Crap, all of it. This wasn’t a marriage. It was barely a friendship. She sat down heavily on her bed, her dress in her hand and started to cry.
That one little conversation was enough to make Jensen want to celebrate. But celebrate how? He lay there floating in his void waiting and wishing for another phone call, or anything that might signal that his journey was about to change.

The floor was damp and sticky, covered in popped balloons and left-over cake. I looked up at Katie as she sat there, head in hands, sobbing uncontrollably. Her friends attempts to comfort her didn’t seem to be helping much.
I thought about saying good-bye, but, it wouldn’t help. Part of me is glad the Police are taking me away from here. There’s not much left to celebrate now anyway.
