  1. conditioned hair. that makes me think of Augusten Burroughs, the boy in running with scissors. the author of that book. i read that book and wanted to fall in love with him. it’s funny. conditioned. to make things better. to be hardened. to prepare. to make softer what is already hardened. symbolic, everything is. i love to condition my hair after i shampoo it in the shower. i bet you do too.

  2. I am a Pavlov dog. I’ve been conditioned to think like this, and react like this. It began when I was a child, this conditioning. It will likely not end until I die. I’m encased by it, my life is driven by it, whether I choose to admit it or not. Every action is a direct result of this conditioning. It sucks, too. Sucks shit.

  3. This makes me think of dance. Well sports in general, but dance because that is what I’m experienced in. You must condition your body to be able to handle the physical stress.

  5. Hair? Body? The modern American is “conditioned” to think that if their appearance doesn’t meet with what the media thinks is perfectly “conditioned”, then he or she is unacceptable. I, myself, find that “condition” “unconditional”.

  6. The kids on the school bus are conditioned to stay put and not get up until the bus comes to their stop. They are conditioned not to question the bus driver as to why they must be transported in this fashion. Some try to bend minor rules by throwing wads of paper at and annoying fellow passengers, but most sit tight in their seats, unaware of an unknown reality.

  8. Conditioned. Like my hair? that stuff is bullshit, i’m sorry but it really is. I don’t have the best hair around but I don’t need some pansy SECOND hair product to throw around in the shower along with my Head and Shoulders. That increases my shower time by like 30%. Ridiculous. RIDICULOUS.

  14. Luxurious conditioned hair cascaded down her back, like a description straight out of a romance novel. But the death that smoldered in her eyes certainly was no work of fiction. Her lust for death shot through me, as did the bullet from her gun. Oh sweet death!

  21. conditioned to be smooth and straight. conditioned for as little time as possible at the kitchen sink, so i’m loading as quickly as i can. there’s more space at the table without the plant taking up th center, and there’s more space outside with the grass at exactly 2 inches, and we’re sure of this and i’m so sure of this. college starts in two weeks, and i’m already buying books, but i’m not even registered for class anymore.

  23. Conditioned? My hair is conditioned. In fact, i put so put conditioner in it that it’s way to sleeky. But it’s still frizzy. Hmpfh. I guess that’s what Florida weather can do to you. Shampoo an conditioner, and then towel dry but it’s still too poofy.

the gun was loaded, the earmuffs for set, the targeting system was in place.

    “go.”

ako’s voice came over the intercom and she raised her gun, pulling the trigger in rapid succession and nailing every target in precise timing.

she smiled, gun smoking, as ako grinned.

  27. Conditioned we are,
To act and be a certain way.
We think it is how supposed to be.
    But nay.
    One can change –
    Self and the surroundings.
    To become something,
    More than what is expected,
Out of you and out of me.

  32. I’ve been conditioned since the first moment I can remember to hide. to lie. to keep the vulnerable, accessible parts of me somewhere safe. somewhere where no one could hurt them. I guess I learned that from her, although things are so different now that it’s hard to remember why. you were the first person that ever cared enough to get through the armor I’ve been presenting without question since before I can remember. you were the first person that tried to break it down, to see what was inside of it. maybe that’s why I love you.

But years and years of this have made me stone — it is so hard to feel and so hard to care. Though, I’m under the impression that everyone else in this world is the same. It’s all about the self, all about “me, me, me”… we’re conditioned to think this way.

  39. I’ve been conditioned to think Romantic Love is real but never something I, or anyone else should expect. And when I think I have it, everyone else will put smiles on their faces and will present themselves as being as happy for me as I am for them… but the fact of the matter is, they’re faking it. Honestly, they don’t mean it. It’s all a lie. They aren’t jealous, they just don’t believe. Posers. Because behind my back they’re saying things like “it looks like she found love but I just don’t know…” and yet, I’ve been together with him exclusively for 14 years, and we’ve been married for the last 8 of them. I just don’t understand them. I doubt I ever will.
