  1. darlings of fate
    the sun is their crown
    the moon is their mirror
    the birds their personal orchestra

    and so it seems
    till you realize they have
    their own first world problems

they have a full closet but
nothing to wear for the party tomorrow night
    a full pantry
but have a host of lifestyle diseases that
    don’t let them eat

and in the end its all the same
    we worry because we must
    have something to fret about

if its not life itself that we try to hod on to
at least lets protect our vanity

    we are nobody’s darlings.

  3. Kill your darlings, it’s what stephen King told me about writing. If you kill your darlings your readers will cry. I’m sure there was a study once that proved you’ll have more readers this way. So kill your darlings… Always

  5. When I was a child you called me your darling duck and you were a child then too, do you remember? You liked to pretend you weren’t, of course, because that’s how you are. If you don’t wear rain boots when the weather man says rain, then it won’t rain.

  6. hello darlings! how are we doing today? I hope you all did the homework I assigned yesterday. If not, good luck trying to get through class.

  8. The daughters of the older man were darlings. Sweet and calm with bright toothy smile that could stop a man in his tracks and melt his heart. They were quick to laugh and quicker to serve.

  9. little darling is what they called her. mShe was supposed to be daddys little darling but he was never around so she searchs for a daddy in all the sta nge men that she meets. She doesnt know who she is anymore, but she knows that she is no longer darling. she is hard, jagged, rough around the edges like a broken tea cup or a skeleton keychain. missing peices. broken.

  10. Those darlings were too cute for words. It was amazing that they all had the same colour of eyes and same bobbed, blond hair cut. It was really too bad that inside those pretty blue eyes was a world of dangers, smoldering hatred and an uncanny secretiveness. Jessie, th

  11. little darling is what they called her. She was a sweet innocent girl and he took that from her. He took everything from her and she didnt even know it, she will never know the extent that he hurt her. As she becomes less of his little darling, she realizes just how much she needed him when he wasnt there.

  12. Children are such darlings. They play, they laugh, love, cry, scream. They have all the emotions he wished he were still capable of feeling. Somehow over the years, the world had gently numbed Chris’ heart and he wondered if it could ever be undone.

  18. “My precious little darlings,” She cooed. Her elegant fingers danced along the crib railings as she eyed the sleeping babes. “Mummy does so love you.” She sighed.

The darkness in the nursery left nothing to clear sight, but the soft glow of the nightlight over the diaper pail, helped to show the layout of the room. She resisted the urge to curve her finger around one chubby cheek and one dimpled fist.

    They were adorable.

“My precious little darlings.” She repeated, to the emptiness of the room. She wished, briefly, that she had time to cause a larger distraction than she originally had. But there was no time left as the lights in the hallway flipped on.

A muttered phrase left her lips and she retreated in a fizzle of silvery smoke, just as the nursery door clanged open.

    “…thank goodness, they’re safe!…”

“…are you sure? Did something happen?”

    “I don’t think so.”

    “Was anyone in there?”

“No. Thank goodness. They’re sleeping still.” A happy sob came from one young woman. “I thought that monster would come for them and….”

In the shadowed space between time and reality, the mother smiled, sadly. “Monster, is it?” She whispered. “I am a monster to want to see my own children?”

  19. The trees echoed with the darkly stirring laughter of the lost darlings. I could hear them through my walls as I tried to sleep at night. They cried in the forest, they played their ghostly games and made my dreams itch and writhe.

  20. Darlings are people who are cute :) they are someone we think of as innocent and loving. Darlings are all around if we just take the time to look for the good in people. I have yet to meet a perfect darling because you see none of us are perfect. We are all painting our canvases of life in different ways.

  21. Well, how many days do we think about how much we want to die. My,my, my darlings. You have some serious problems.

  22. “Welcome, my darlings,” The man purred, taking a sip from his scotch. He eyed my sister and I over one time, before setting the glass down. I let out a shudder, looking away from him and to the cinder-block wall. I didn’t like him. He gave off this…. evil, aura. That was the only word for it.

“Come into my parlor, said the spider to the fly,” He laughed, maniacally. We were screwed.

  23. “Welcome home, darlings!” The woman screamed at the top of her lungs. She was plump, and fat, and smelled of cats. I looked up at her from my place in the basket, and wrinkled my nose. Cats. I hated cats. They were evil.

“Look at how adorable they are! Wid dere widdle paws!” She screamed with laughter.

  25. “Come here darlings!” she called, jingling her keys and making strange noises with her mouth. The small animals ignored her efforts and the company around her snorted. They were highly amused by her ability to not just be ignored by the people in the room, but by her beloved pets as well.

  26. This is a term of endearment usually applied to spoiled little brats who people find adorable for some unfathomable reason. You know, the little blonde girls who want nothing less than the world and bitch about it for their entire lives. Shut up, kid. You’re not cute.

  27. I have a friend named darling, and when i hear the word i think of a girlfriend that i call “darling”

  28. “Oh my dear little darlings…”
    I blinked. Darlings. Plural.
    “What?” I asked.
The old man moved ducked his head down further to look me in the eye with his own rheumy blue ones.
“There’s only one of me,” I try to clarify.
He chuckles, showing yellow teeth normally hidden behind his wispy white Santa Claus beard. “I meant what I said, darlings. Someday you’ll both realize that.”

  29. + + little faces pressed against the glass roof looking up at the stars.

  35. “oh, my darlings, how lovely you will taste,” the vampire goaded his prisoners, stooping down to sniff each of his prisoners’ faces before moving on to the next. “tonight, you will leave the world of the living, and move into the world of the eternal.” Becca pulled against her bonds and her captor was there within the blink of an eye, holding her down and bringing his teeth dangerously close to her neck. “There is no use struggling, my dear. You will thank me for this gift eventually.”

  36. She scratched her head and sighed. the time was ticking and still the little darlings had failed to arrive. Getting up and peering out the window, she was sure she’d worn a path to the window in the carpet. When were they coming home? Would they ever?

  37. The darlings are a creature unknown to most men. They appear only at midday in certain arid parts of the world–which happen to be mostly uninhabitted. They are shy creatures, and as they tend to fly away when spotted descriptions of them are inconclusive.

  38. They ran around the park, like it was a wonderland. There was not a care among the three girls. Not a thought of what had happened early that day, or what was to come. They were three darlings, sitting on the park bench and soaking in the beautiful life they had made for themselves, here at the park.

    dancing on the floor

  40. Darling divas prance around as if they don’t have a care in the world. The world is full of evils but they still choose to focus their energy on those that matter most. We should all strive to be darling. Forget the care. Forget the worry. Do what feels right and prance.
