  2. When I need to secure my door, I use a deadbolt. It helps stop burglars and unwanted guests. I hope my deadbolt doesn’t stick because I like feeling protected. In reality, a deadbolt can only protect me against the common criminal. But there are a lot of those.

  4. Who knew your heart would deadbolt to another? Thats something that you had no chance of changing. So here I am deadbolted to your heart and watching it be chained to another unrequited love. Its to sad that I long to find the key to unlock this shit I’m tired.

  7. I try to fource myself to write about the word each day. The down side of this is that when I can’t think of something remotely interesting I just end up with this crap.   10. I locked the deadbolt and prayed they wouldn’t find me. I searched through every bag to find a weapon…all i could find was an umbrella, it was better than nothing. When the door crashed open i mustered up all my strength and i swung and…i missed.

  11. A lock on a door that you can never get out of. It’s physically and mentally impossible. Could also be a song name or a book. I never think of dead, though.

  16. I don’t know what this word means but I can guess that it means that your lazy and don’t do anything……I miss my old deadbolt… my deadbolt was the opposite of a deadbolt and cute really cute:)

  20. Deadbolts help keep you safe at night, you can lock your doors, and anything else you need to lock. criminals have no chance to break in if you are using a deadbolt to lock your doors. Deadbolts may save you loads of worry.

  21. The deadbolt rattled ferociously. She wasn’t sure if it would hold out much longer against the raging dogs that had found their way out of the shelter’s “problem” compound. If those dogs got into the office and got their teeth into those papers, it would all be over.

  25. Deadbolt is such a serious word. Maybe cause it has the word dead in it. If this was Mrs. Clarks class the Bj would tell us how he locked the deadbolt to keep the carnies out.

  30. Deadbolt is a lock that will keep most people out it is a simple machine and is used almost by everybody. your home is not safe without one..

  32. Well this is a curious word. it does something positive. It provides protection, yet the word itself is, well, deadened. Why not livebolt or soemthing that woud connote safety. I unserstand why the worbolt is used, but the prefix is odd. I wonder, in fact, about the dervation f the word. Is is borrowed from some other portmanteau that includes the word, “dead.”
