  3. I discovered the passing of my father on my birthday. It appeared to be that he had committed suicide, on my birthday. I just don’t understand. He was a great man. I loved my father. I examined his body first, the gun in his hand, the hole in his head, his head lying down on the desk. I did all this before calling, tears in my voice, for my mother. She came running, screamed once, and then called the police. They told me it was suicide, but I don’t believe them. My father was working on something big, something that would change the world, and there is no way in Hell that no one would want to kill him for that. I searched the room after he was taken away, and I couldn’t find his research anywhere. Figures. It wasn’t suicide. It was murder.

  11. Discover the reality of parenthood. The only way is to experience it first-hand. When you are a 30-something with a ticking biological clock, everyone else with kids looks so smug. Nobody talks about the loss of freedom and personal space, the sleepless nights, the eternal whinging, the 2am visits to A&E…or the fact that laughter doesn’t come as easy as it used to (both for physical and psychological reasons)! Discovering how to come to terms with this will be a lifelong journey.
