  13. Sometimes people think of Domestic in negative connotations when regarding women. Women can be domestic creatures, but so can men. In fact, n the present day century it is more common for a man to be domestic than for a woman, because of the changing societal structure that we are experiencing. Men will stay at home, take care of the kids, cook, clean and even take the dogs out for a walk. Society is re-adapting to the new found liberties that women have experienced recently.

  20. I don’t want to have kids. Ever. My mother has frequently insisted I will change my mind. It is her hoping, I know that. I love to cook. I hate cleaning. I could arrange a house all day long, decorate and design rooms. I have my domestic leanings, but the idea that one has to be entirely domestic or not at all just doesn’t seem to apply. I want to make a home, but I don’t want to be suzy homemaker. I want to cook meals for the person I love but I don’t want it to be expected at all times. I don’t want to offer someone a glass of scotch and a smoking jacket when they come home. It just doesn’t work that way. I can’t think of many people who actually enjoy being thoroughly domestic. Maybe they like to clean, or they like kids, but no one is the full package. That’s why we form homes and families with a couple as a base. They make up for what we lack. We operate as one.

  36. Don’t you hate being told you’ve been “domesticated.” It has all the wrong connotations- these ideas of limitations and control by other, often more civilized people. But what many people don’t realize is domestic isn’t bad- it’s utilities and civility and etiquette. Not being domestic results in many peoples’ pet peeves. Even pets need to be domesticated- you don’t want pet fur or other things on your furniture, now do you?

  37. Wives, and love and partnership. Huh. Being domesticated. What defines domesticality anyway? The fact that we control emotions and such or just the fact that we know when to not cross lines? Or maybe being domesticated just means we know not to go to the bathroom wherever we please. Domesticated isn’t even the word. Domestic. Tick tock. I don’t know much about being domestic, but I think I’m somewhat domesticated. I’d like to think so anyway.
